BRAND FOCUS: ARMOABABY

Today I’d like to put focus on an Australian-made skin care range for babies and pregnant mothers.

The range is rich in certified organic, natural oils and contain no petro-chemicals, added colour (artificial or otherwise), artificial fragrance, animal ingredients, propylene glycol, parabens, sulphates, alcohol, cocoamphodiacetate, talc, herbal extracts , synthetic vitamin e, silicones or vegetable oils, and hence the products are not only super pure, they are also super gentle and suitable for the most sensitive of baby skins.
Rather the products contain a certified organic and pesticide free and gmo free pure rosehip oil, natural vitamin e, avocado oil, jojoba, calendula, therapeutic-grade essential oils and more. soothing, certified organic oat and soy powders, edible-grade corn-starch and pure essential oils.

Stretched to the Limit Massage Oil for Pregnancy and Postnatal

This body oil has been designed to care for the skin during pregnancy and beyond when the skin is stretching. It helps moisture and nurture the skin, thanks to containing ingredients from cold pressed, organic avocado, jojoba, rosehip, sesame and evening primrose oils. The massage oil helps to soothe dry, irritated or rough skin, and can help encourage muscle tone and prevent stretchmarks on thighs, hips, buttocks, breast and the stomach, if used throughout the pregnancy and continued for a few months after giving birth. The light oil comes in an easy to use pump bottle, and has a slightly odd scent, which no doubt comes from the natural ingredients. But luckily it disappears rather quickly once the oil has absorbed into the skin. The oil does take a little while absorb into the skin, but once it has, it leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. As it is a little greasy, I like massaging it into my itchy tummy as I sit and watch TV at night, as that way it has plenty of time to absorb into my skin.

RRP: $24.95 (125ml) – Available from AromaBaby

Organic Aromabath Powder

This bath powder has been made from certified organic oatmeal, organic lavender flowers and a blend of certified organic pure essential oils to help relieve and soothe itchy, irritated and dry skin. It can be used both postnatal for Mum, or even for your baby’s bath, which proves just how gentle it is. The bath powder is very concentrated, and you only use to use about 2 teaspoons, or even less if for your baby, so the large tub will last you for a while. My little boy is at the age where he does love his bubble bath, and luckily his skin is not dry so it can tolerate it. However, I can feel that when I’ve used the bath powder instead of the usual bubble bath, his skin is super soft, and smells so lovely too! The Aromabath can also be used to relieve itching and soothe redness associated with stings, bites, chickenpox and sunburn, but luckily we are yet to have a need for that!

RRP: $24.95 (150g) – Available from AromaBaby

Baby Bath Gel

This Bath gel is extremely gentle and is also sulphate-free, so it is perfect for babies and toddlers. It contains certified organic pure essential oils of French lavender and German chamomile work together to relax baby and help soothe and care for delicate skin, as well as it also contains vitamin E to help add moisture to the skin. Thanks to the essential oils it has the most gorgeous gentle scent. Because it is sulphate free, it doesn’t foam up as easily as ‘standard’ bath gels containing sulphate, but don’t be fooled, it still cleanses your skin, leaving it soft and smooth, and with the lovely scent of chamomile and lavender lingering on the skin.

RRP: $12.95 (125ml) – Available from AromaBaby

Pure Hair Cleanse

This Hair Cleanse is another extremely mild product, free from sulphates. I contains certified organic geranium and sweet orange pure essential oils, and it has a beautiful mild orangey scent that I really love. It is intended to help with scalp dryness, while gently cleansing the without stripping the hair and scalp from essential oils. It leaves my little boy’s fine blonde hair feeling soft and looking so shiny and healthy. It can of course also be used by adults with dry and irritated scalp.

RRP: $10.95 (125ml) – Available from AromaBaby

Moisturising Nappy Change Cream

This Nappy Change Cream has been enriched with cold pressed pure sweet almond oil, cocoa butter and vitamin E, and also contains essential oils of chamomile and neroli. It not only helps clean and moisturise the baby’s skin, it also helps soothe and calm irritated. My little boy has luckily never been affected by any nappy rash irritations in the nappy area, but I am also always making sure to care for his sensitive skin as best as I can. And applying just a small amount of this Nappy Change Cream to the nappy area after each nappy change, keeps his skin soft and smooth and protected from skin irritations, and smelling beautifully too – in fact so beautiful that I find myself using a tad more than I really need to massage it into my own hands! Yep, that’s right, this cream is multi-functional so it can in fact also be used as a hand and nail cream or even as a makeup remover! How brilliant is that!

RRP: $12.95 (125ml) – Available from AromaBaby

Barrier Balm

Finally, the Barrier Balm is an intensive cream that has been formulated to provide a barrier on the baby’s skin in the nappy area to protect from any irritations. I always, without fail, use a barrier cream on my little boy’s bum after changing his nappies, and it has proven worthwhile as his skin is so soft and smooth, and has never had any irritations. I love that this one contains no chemical nasties, but rather is enriched with natural evening primrose, vitamin e and calendula, to soothe the skin and moisturise at the same time. And it is so gentle that it can also be used on sensitive skin affected by eczema, or even on your lips as a lip nourishing lipbalm. The jar is tiny, but the cream is very concentrated so you only need to use a tiny amount.

RRP: $15.95 (25g) - Available from AromaBaby

So there you go, a selection of skincare products from AromaBaby. The products are all amazing and I love how gentle they are on my little boy’s skin, and how beautiful they smell – the scents are so natural coming from the natural ingredients, which is a refreshing change from the artificial scents that you usually find in skincare products. If you have a baby or toddler, or you are pregnant, - or if you suffer from sensitive skin, then I can highly recommend that you check out the AromaBaby product range, you won’t be disappointed!

ALTER ECO ORGANIC CHOCOLATE

Being pregnant, I’ve given up on quite a few things. Red wine, blue cheese and brie are just some of the things not recommended during pregnancy, and in addition I have completely cut out coffee, which is a really tough one for someone who is otherwise a coffee addict. One thing that I however haven’t cut out is treating myself to a nice piece of chocolate every night. And my newest addicting is the chocolate from ALTER ECO...

ALTER ECO has just launched their new decadent Organic Sea Salt and Salted Caramel Truffles and new Dark Salted Burnt Caramel Bar, and let me tell you, they taste absolutely amazing!

The Dark Salted Burnt Caramel organic chocolate bar features dark Ecuadorian chocolate blended with a golden caramel of organic unrefined cane sugar, organic cream and heirloom butter, which gives a beautiful caramel crunch. Finally the chocolate bar has been sprinkled with sea salt.

The chocolate bar is made from 70% cocoa, giving it a nice rich slightly bitter taste. Dark chocolate is not normally known for being too sweet, which is why I guess I prefer dark chocolate. However, combined with the sweetness of the burnt caramel and the slightly salty taste, this combination is just to die for. With just 80g in the bar, it is smaller than most chocolate bars, however as the chocolate is so rich and intense, you only need a piece or two to satisfy your cravings.

The Dark Salted Brown Butter organic chocolate bar is also made from dark Ecuadorian chocolate and has due to the added butter naturally got a beautiful smooth buttery taste. It also has Celtic sea salt added, and it literally melts on your tongue.

Next we have the have the Sea Salt and the Salted Caramel Chocolate Truffles. These individually wrapped chocolate balls have a shell of dark Ecuadorian chocolate and a centre made of nourishing coconut oil and speckled with prized Fleur de Sel de Guerande, a sea salt hand-harvested from ancient salt villages in France. The Salted Caramel truffle has the addition of buttery, caramel blended throughout the creamy filling.

And both of these truffles are nothing short of amazing. A chocolate lovers dream. I cannot even say which one I prefer, as they are both so delicious.

I have to say that overall I didn’t really think that sea salt and chocolate would be a good mix, but I am so surprised at how nice the combination is. I wish I’d come across these sooner! And again, they are so concentrated and rich, that personally, just one truffle is sufficient, although if I don’t put them away immediately, I find it difficult to resist a second..

 What I also love is that all the chocolates from ALTER ECO are made from the highest quality ingredients from around the world. The chocolates are Certified Organic, Fairtrade Certified, Carbon Neutral Certified, and not made with any genetically modified ingredients or gluten ingredients. The company also works towards creating minimal waste products aiming for a 100% compostable packaging as well as offsetting carbon emissions. What’s not to love? I know that I’ve certainly found some new favourites and will be sure to check out the rest of the range when I’m next in the supermarket or health food store – there’s among others a Dark Twist with added tangy fruit and also a Dark Almond that I’ve got my eyes on…YUM!!

You can find more information about ALTER ECO Chocolates on their website

The products are available for purchase from major natural food retailers and health food stores, independent supermarket and pharmacies and Coles.

The Chocolate Bars have an RRP each of $5.99 (80g), while the Chocolate Truffles have an RRP each of $9.99 (108g)

PRODUCT REVIEW: SISLEY PARIS ECOLOGICAL COMPOUND NIGHT AND DAY

Today I’d like to introduce you to the Sisley Ecological Compound Day and Night;

What They Say:

Ecological Compound is an essential revitalizing and hydrating skincare product. Formulated with a synergistic compound of plants (centella asiatica, ginseng, rosemary, hops, and horsetail) selected for their stimulating and revitalizing actions, its composition hydrates the epidermis, and restores comfort and radiance. It also helps skin fight environmental stress (pollution, cigarette smoke etc) and restores the skin to a more toned, supple state enabling it to get maximum benefit from future treatments. Its fluid, non-greasy texture leaves skin with a matte appearance.

RRP: $165 (50ml) – Available from David Jones

What I Say:

The Ecological Compound is a very multi-functional product, suitable for both men and women for use both day and night. In fact, it is the brands flagship product and an international best seller!

The Compound has been developed to stimulate and regulate the skin when and where needed and hence the skin draws vital elements and ingredients from the cream depending on its condition at the time.

It works to combat external stress factors including pollution, cigarette smoke and UV rays, while helping to restore, tone, and keep the skin supple and elastic, all while helping it to rebuild its own defence system.

The compound is essentially a very light fluid moisturiser and it contains among others Ginseng to revitalise the skin, Rosemary and Hops to stimulate, Horsetail to re-mineralise and tone, and Centella Asiatica to regenerate and revitalise the skin.

Unfortunately the Compound doesn’t contain any SPF, which would have been ideal. However, I suspect that SPF is often what makes my skin break out, so on the other hand I actually don’t mind. Whenever I need it I can just use another SPF on top. It also means that it is suitable for use as a night cream, although personally I prefer to use it just as a day cream and use a thicker cream at night!

Again, the Compound is a very light moisturiser, and hence it absorbs instantly into the skin, leaving it feels incredibly thoroughly moisturised and so soft and smooth and with a matte feeling and a nice glowing sheen. It leaves absolutely no greasiness or stickiness behind. It is absolutely perfect for my combination skin, and works brilliantly under makeup.

Often intense moisturisers make my skin feel congested and make it break out, but I am very pleased to say that hasn’t been the case with the Ecological Compound for the month or so that I’ve been using it. On the contrary, I actually feel that my skin is not only thoroughly nourished, it actually also seems to have normalised, so that it feels less greasy. And overall my skin simply feels and looks healthy and radiant!

At $165 for 50ml this is without a doubt one of the more expensive moisturisers that I have used. However, this moisturiser not only feels so lovely on the skin, it is also as made for my skin – as most often I find that moisturiser either provide too much moisture and leave my skin greasy and congested, or alternatively not sufficient moisture – but this Sisley Ecological Compound Day and Night has managed to get the balance just right, and for that, the high price is more than worthwhile!

PRODUCT REVIEW: KIEHL'S SUPER MULTI-CORRECTIVE EYE-OPENING SERUM

Today I’m trying a new brand – well new to me! Yep, believe it or not, for some reason I have never actually tried any of the products from Kiehl’s before. So it is with excitement that I have been trialling the Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum. Here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

The new Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum is "super smart" 5 in 1, anti-aging solution to visibly smooth, visibly lift, visibly firm, and restore youthful shape to eyes imparting 360 degree correction and clinical results demonstrating 42% more open eyes after 4 week use

RRP: $62 (15ml) – Available from Kiehl’s Online, select Myer and David Jones Stores

What I Say:
As soon as I received the Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum I instantly fell in love with the cute little purple pump metal bottle. So adorable. And as you may know, I prefer creams in pump bottles, so right up my alley.

The eye cream, or rather eye serum, contains among others botanical extracts, and it claims to be a ‘super smart’ 5 in 1 cream, that lift, firm, smooth, hydrate, and restore youthful shape of the eye, leaving the skin around the eye are looking visible firmer, and lifted, and with the skin texture more refined, - and that is after just one week’s use! It also contains skin illuminating minerals that Light reflectors help improve skin luminosity.

The serum has a very light consistency, and it is very concentrated so you only need the tiniest amount, but luckily the pump bottle does make it easy to dispense just the right amount. It absorbs instantly into the skin, and without leaving behind any stickiness or greasy residue, but rather it the skin instantly feels incredibly soft and smooth, and it has a lovely glow to it as well, which I’m sure is due to the skin illuminating minerals.

The eye serum is also free from parabens, mineral oils, fragrances and colourants, which you can only love.

The Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum is intended to be used both morning and night, and used during the day it works perfectly under makeup as well. And it is very gentle too, causing absolutely no irritation at all to my sensitive eyes.

So how has the eye serum performed after using it for a few weeks? Well, I have to say that I am in love. I love how the skin around my eyes feels and looks immediately after application. And while I don’t feel that it has made a dramatic difference to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, I do feel that the eye serum has made a significant improvement in the puffiness and darkness of the circles under my eyes. In saying that, it is still early days, and I have heaps of serum left in the bottle (unfortunately the style of bottle makes it impossible to see exactly how much), so improvements may still happen. So overall I have to say that I am impressed. It makes me keen to explore the more of the products from Kiehl’s product range.

PRODUCT REVIEW: KATY PERRY KILLER QUEEN'S SPRING REIGN

It has only been a few short months since Katy Perry Launched her last fragrance, and not another new one, the fourth one in the royal fragrance family, Spring Reign is joining the ranks. Here are my thoughts on the *Katy Perry Killer Queen’s Spring Reign Eau de Parfum;

What They Say:

Spring Reign is for the vivacious girl that isn’t afraid to reign supreme. The fresh and fruity floral features notes of Pink Freesia, May Flower Rose and Violet Petals and is housed in a beautiful soft pink version of the Killer Queen jewel-shaped bottle, complete with a rose gold cap reminiscent of a queen’s crown.

RRP: $69 (100ml) – Available from Priceline, Myer, Chemist Warehouse and select pharmacies

What I say:

I have loved the previous Killer Queen fragrance releases from Katy Perry and this Spring Reign is no exception. It was launched just over a month ago, in the lead up to Valentine’s Day – which really, going by the Australian seasons, is closer to autumn. But such is the joy, spring is coming to Europe, and hence we also see the releases here, although slightly out of season. But at least it is being launched now, and not just until it is next spring in Australia!!

Being called Spring Reign, naturally means that the fragrance is a fresh and light fragrance – which is just how I prefer my fragrances – but some may find that it is too light and fresh as we head towards autumn and winter. Personally I will enjoy using it during autumn, and will then when winter hits probably store it away until spring.

Unlike the other Killer Queen fragrances, this one is very light – ok, the last one, Oh So Sheer, launched during summer was naturally a light one to. And out of the four in the range, Oh So Sheer and Spring Reign are definitely my favourites.

The fragrance contains;

  • Top Notes: Pink Freesia, Violet Petals, Cassis Buds
  • Middle Notes: Natural Davana, Gardenia, May Flower Rose
  • Base Notes: Benzoin Resinoid, Cedarwood Oil, Cashmeran

And especially the freesia, violet and the gardenia stands out to me as making it a light floral scent, while the cassis buds gives it a slightly fruity touch as well, without making it too sweet. It is a very feminine.

Because the fragrance is so light, it is the perfect scent for daytime casual wear, and for those who don’t like too strong fragrances.

Being light, I find that it naturally doesn’t last quite as long as the stronger and spicier scented Killer Queen’s, but still it does last quite a few hours on the skin. If I go out again at night, I do find that I need to reapply again to freshen up.

The Spring Reign comes in a cute pink box with a floral pattern, while the bottle has the same jewel-shaped shape as the previous Killer Queen fragrances. Only the colour is different, this one has a very feminine soft pink shade.

Overall this is a lovely fresh fruity scent that I’ll enjoy for months to come. And at just $69 for a large 100ml bottle, it is very reasonable priced too. If you enjoy fresh fruity and floral scents, then I’m sure you will enjoy Katy Perry’s Killer Queen’s Spring Reign too!

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUST HAVE IT FEBRUARY 2015

It seems Lust Have It continues to have some shipping issues. The January edition arrived on the 20th February, and well, the February edition arrived yesterday, the 16th March, so sadly again still close to a month late. As I’ve mentioned before, If I was a paying subscriber, I would be disappointed, regardless of the amount of communication regarding the delay, but again, as the box has been sent to me as a PR sample, I really cannot complain. But I still have my fingers crossed that Lust Have It will get back on track soon with the shipping and that the March Box will arrive soon, before subscribers get too frustrated! Anyway, here are my thoughts on the February Lust Have It Box;

What They Say:

Lust Have It boxes regularly contains products worth $60+ for only $19.95/month! Monthly box filled with 5 to 6 premium beauty samples. Delivered to your home or work each month for you to try.

RRP: Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box (quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but if you use my unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website, you are eligible for $5 off your first box from Lust Have It, and at the same time you’ll also be supporting Beauty & Lifestyle Hunter, as I will get a few dollars too if someone subscribes using this code.

Available from Lust Have It

What I Say:

Yet again the February goodies arrived in a see-through pink mesh bag, and these are the products in bag this month, and these were the products inside;

Ulta3 Plum Lip Liner – Full Size (RRP: $2.95)

This lip liner has a plum shade, which is right on trend for the autumn colours. I have to admit that I don’t often wear plum lipsticks – or use lipliners for that matter – yes, I know I really should! In saying that, I haven’t got this shade in my collection, so it certainly won’t go astray.

Natural Glamour 2GLO Line Treatment Concealer – Full Size (RRP: $27.95)

This is a dual ended product with a Line Treatment in one end, and a concealer in the other. It promises to both treat and hide flaws. The Line Treatment promises to tighten and moisturise the eye area, while the concealer covers any redness, dark circles under the eyes, and pigmentation. Again, this sounds perfect to me, and with a growing bump I rarely get a good night’s sleep these days, and consequently a little help under the eyes wouldn’t go astray – except, like the foundation, I received is in the medium shade, which unfortunately is a touch too dark for my skin tone.

Natural Glamour Illuminating Foundation SPF 15 – Full Size (RRP: $29.95/40ml)

This foundation promises a flawless glowing complexion with a radiant matte look. It also promises to conceal blemishes. I do get the odd breakout, and also have some scarring as well as increasing pregnancy pigmentation, so this sounds like the perfect foundation for me - if only I hadn’t received it in the Medium shade, which unfortunately is a tad too dark for my skin tone!

Designer Brands Black Liquid Eyeliner – Full Size (RRP: $8.99)

I always use black liquid eyeliner, so this one certainly won’t go astray. I have only tried a few products from Designer Brands, which considering their low price, have been surprisingly good in quality, so I cannot wait to put this one to the test.

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant – Sample, 30ml (RRP: $33.00/118ml)

This Skin Perfecting Exfoliant claims to exfoliate both the skin’s surface and inside the pores, unclogging the pores and improving cell turnover. With combination skin prone to breakouts, this sounds pretty awesome to me, and I’d love to give this a trial, right now – but sadly, being pregnant, I cannot use it right now, so I will have to wait until after I’ve given birth. Bummer!!

So all in all, unfortunately I am personally not particularly impressed with this month’s box, simply because there really is only one product that I will be using on a regular basis, the liquid eye liner. The foundation and the concealer, would have really excited me, if only I had received colours that better matched my skin tone. Luckily I am sure that a friend will happily take those products from me, so they are not completely wasted.

But in saying that, the box does contain four full sized products, and one deluxe sample, so in that respect it is good value for money – and especially if the foundation and concealer shades are right for you. I do find it a shame, as I can only imagine that I am not the only one to receive products that I won’t be able to use – if only Lust Have It was able to customise their boxes when including products that are for specific skin tones, then it would be an absolute winner.

Fingers crossed that the March box will be a little more my style….

PRODUCT REVIEW: MARY KAY ENDLESS PERFORMANCE CREME-TO-POWDER FOUNDATION

As you may be aware, the Beauty and Lifestyle Hunter is an official Beautydirectory Expert Panelist. The Beautydirectory the only online resource for the Australian and New Zealand beauty industry, including brands, PRs and media including beauty bloggers like myself, and this esteemed Expert Panel, includes a small selection of best bloggers/vloggers in Australia - and the Beauty and Lifestyle Hunter is one of those! I still so excited to be a part of that panel! And as a part of the Expert Panel, today I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the newly launched Mary Kay Endless Performance Crème-to-Powder Foundation;

What They Say:

Mary Kay Endless Performance Crème-to-Powder Foundation is your key to a long-lasting, flawless finish. Formulated with multiple technologies to help you achieve beautiful results, it glides on like a cream to hide imperfections and dries to a powdery matte finish. Available in 9 shades.

RRP:

Endless Performance Cr̬me-to-Powder Foundation: $30 (10g) РAvailable from Mary Kay

Mini refillable compact: RRP: $28 - Available from Mary Kay

What I Say:

To be honest, I have to admit to usually preferring liquid foundation. Not really sure why, just somehow usually find it easier to use. In saying that, I may have to admit that I’m wrong..

This crème to powder foundation is surprisingly easy to apply using the included makeup sponge (you actually get two included with the foundation), or any other makeup sponge or blender for that matter. The foundation glides easily over the skin, and is so easy to blend into an even natural finish. And if you want or need to, you can easily build up the coverage slightly to help cover dark circles under the eyes, redness, and pigmentation.

And in spite of having combination skin, that often tends to get a touch on the greasy side by the afternoon, this foundation actually stay put all day. And without fading, sliding, looking shiny, and very importantly too, without settling into fine lines and wrinkles.

The foundation has a matte finish, which, with combination skin I really like, as too dewy or shimmery foundations often makes me feel that my skin looks even greasier than it really is. Mary Kay also claims that the foundation is heat-, humidity- and transfer-resistant, and I did find that to be true, and that there was minimal transfer on i.e. my glasses and sunglasses when I too them off.

I also really like that the foundation is oil-free and non-comedogenic too, so it is suitable for combination and oily skin types. It has also been dermatologist tested, and tested for skin irritancy and allergy, so it is also suitable for sensitive skin types. In fact, it actually claims to be suitable for all skin types, but in saying that, I am not too sure how it would go on more dry skin types.

At $30, I find the foundation to be relatively well priced, but in saying that, it is also not particularly large with just 10g, so I am not too sure how long it will last before you hit the pan. In saying that, the foundation does come in just a simple plastic case, which as such is fine if you do to tend to take it with you – but it is intended to be put into one of Mary Kay’s special refillable compacts. This black sleek compact comes with a small mirror, and a hidden compartment underneath which holds the makeup sponge. The compact has a magnet making sure that the foundation is kept securely in place. And once you’ve finished up the foundation, you can of course re-use the compact, using it for a new foundation, or even for other makeup products such as eye shadows, blush, bronzer or the like! But essentially, the $28 for the compact does add to the cost of the foundation, essentially making it cost $58.

However, all in all, this is a lovely crème to powder foundation that is easy to apply, gives you a nice seamless matte finish, and lasts all day.

THREE OF A KIND: THERMAL HAIR STYLING PRODUCTS

Today on the blog I’m looking into three different products to help protect your hair from thermal damage when you are using heat styling products such as hair dryers, straighteners, and curlers. I have to be honest and admit that I do not heat style my hair on a daily basis. Not because I don’t want to. But as a stay-at-home mum, I simply see no need to. And besides, having long and thick hair, it does take quite a while, time I simply often have with a toddler running around my legs demanding attention. But on the days where I do style my hair, and not just put it up in the usual bun on top of my head, these are my current go to products;

Suigo Hairlook Arts S03 Thermal Protection

This Thermal Protection spray from Suigo, has the cutest bottle and packaging of the products I’m mentioning today, although at the same time, it is also the smallest. The Thermal Protector, is in actual fact a multi-tasking product, as it not only protects the hair from heat and UV damage, but at the same time, as it also contains aloe extract, it is also hydrating and moisturising on the hair. It leaves the hair feeling soft and shiny, with a flexible hold, and any sign of frizz is more or less eliminated, without leaving behind a greasy residue. The spray bottle makes it easy to dispense just the right amount, and I love the fresh fruity scent that smells a little like peaches, and it leaves the hair beautifully scented for hours.
RRP: $21.50 (100ml) – Available from Suigo

Muk Hot Muk Thermal Protection

This thermal protection spray from Muk provides the hair with protection from heat styling tools up to 230 degrees. You just need a few sprays of the fine mist, and after styling your hair is left with a nice non-greasy finish with a beautiful healthy shine. It also contains UV filters so it helps protect your hair from sun damage, and seals the hair to protect from frizz at the same time. Of today’s line-up it has the most beautiful scent of green apples, which I just can’t get enough of, so luckily it does linger around in the hair long after you’ve finished styling it. I love the silver bottle with the trigger nozzle that makes it easy to dispense. It comes in a huge bottle, and is hence also very reasonably priced, the cheapest of the three!

RRP: $24.95 (250ml) – Available from Hairhouse Warehouse and Price Attack

Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique

Finally, the Nutritive Nectar Thermique from Kerastase is the most expensive of the three products. And unlike the other two, it comes in a tube and has a creamy texture, much like a conditioner or a leave-in treatment. And as it has been formulated with Royal Jelly extract and contains carbohydrates, proteins and lipids, it actually doubles as a leave-in treatment as well, and I’ve found myself using it also on the days where I am not heat styling my hair, instead of my usual leave-in conditioner just after washing my hair. The treatment is extremely concentrated, so you only need a little, and you have to be very cautious not to use too much, as otherwise it will leave the hair feeling a little greasy, but really that is only a good things, as it will make the tube last so much longer. Used as a heat protectant, it leaves your hair so soft and healthy and shiny looking, even my ends are clearly benefitting from this treatment when used frequently.

RRP: $48 (150ml) – Available from Select Hair Salons

PRODUCT REVIEW: DREAMBABY PELI'S BATHTUB PLAY POUCH

Today on the blog I enlist the help of my little almost 21 month old boy again, this time to review the newly launched Peli's Bathtub Play Pouch from Dreambaby;

What They Say:

Dreambaby Peli's Bathtub Play Pouch is a delightful accessory to your bathroom. Surprise your children - next bath time - by attaching Peli to your bath tub. Watch the excitement on their faces as they start to play and interact with Peli – whose engaging eyes and happy disposition lovingly watches over your bathing bambinos! When their bath toys are packed away and stored, the mesh designed pelican 'bill" will allow them to nicely air dry, and will prevent the build-up of mould and water inside your little one's favourite bath time toys, keeping them well preserved and ready for their next bath.

RRP: $39.95 – Available from Babies r Us and
Dreambaby online

What Oliver Says:

Oliver loves his night-time bath. And he loves his bath toys. Sometimes he has some many toys in the bath that there is hardly room for himself! But he loves it that way, and wouldn’t have it any other way. What I don’t like, it the mess we’ve always got in the bathroom.

We are in the process building a new house, and the temporary house we live in right now until our new house is finished, has a very small bathroom (and don’t you just love the pink tiles you can see in the pictures! Hmmmm, can’t say that I will be missing them when we move!) I mean the bathroom is tiny. So storing heaps of bath toys there is almost impossible.

But thanks to this new Peli's Bathtub Play Pouch from Dreambaby, we’ve now got somewhere to store all his toys. The Peli doubles as toy storage, keeping the bathroom more tidy. The mesh net hanging from the peli’s huge beak, allows the toys to drain after the bath, and air-dry to prevent the build-up of mould in the toys. But it also doubles as an interactive toy, keeping the little ones entertained in the bath as they can pull out their toys and put them back into the Peli’s beak again.

And I've even found him playing with the Peli during the day if I am in the bathroom getting ready to go out. He simply sits down next to the bathtub and takes things out and puts them back again, which is definitely a win-win over him playing with my moisturisers as he has otherwise been doing!

The Peli is so cleverly designed it can face both ways, to either face inside the tub or outside, depending on your need. It also has adjustable brackets that fits most bath sides (up to 13cm in width), and it is so quick and easy to install, and also remove again.

Overall, we really like this Peli's Bathtub Play Pouch from Dreambaby – I love it as it keeps the bathroom a whole lot tidier, and I wish we’d had had one sooner! And Oliver loves the new play during the bath-time, and no doubt that it adds a cute element to the bathroom too! With a new bay on the way this Peli’ will without a doubt be a part of the bathroom décor for many many years to come, so definitely well worth its price of just $39.95!

THREE OF A KIND: SEA SALT SPRAYS

With long, thick and straight-ish hair, I don’t use sea salt spray very often, as I simply have too much hair for it to really have an effect and make a difference. Still, I like having some at hand. I like using it to spray generously through my long hair at night before going to bed. And while my hair is still damp from the spray, I put my hair into a tight plait. The next morning I wake with lovely loose casual curls, that with a quick mist of hairspray stay put all day. I also love using sea salt spray in my little boy’s hair. His blonde hair is so thin and fine that gel doesn’t do much, while the sea salt water adds a little texture and a tousled look to his hair. These are the Sea Salt Sprays I’ve enjoyed using lately;

MUK Beach MUK Sea Salt Spray

Out of today’s selection, the Beach MUK Sea Salt Spray is giving the hair the most matte texture, but I don’t mind, as it is a refreshing change, as if I am not using Sea Salt Sprays, I am usually using heaps hair oils that adds shine to the hair! I love that this one is both oil and silicone free, and it has the most gorgeous fruity scent. The spray can be used in both wet and dry hair, and just a few sprays into my straight and limp hair, and pronto, I’ve got some much needed volume and texture, yet without making my hair feel dry or sticky.

RRP: $24.95 (250ml) – Available from Hairhouse Warehouse and Price Attack

Bangstyle Light Sea Salt Mist

As the name suggests, the Bangstyle Light Sea Salt Mist is the lightest formula, so it only adds a touch of subtle definition and texture, that surprisingly lasts quite well in the hair throughout the day. As Bangstyle so nicely puts it “Imagine 10,000 mermaids blowing the ocean breeze from a cool banana leaf. This is sort of like that but without the leaf or the imaginary mermaids." Gotta love that! It is a non-sticky formula and unlike many other sea salt sprays it also gives the hair a nice natural shine. I also love that it is paraben free and that it contains sunscreen to help protect your hair from the sun’s harsh rays!

RRP: $25.95 (150ml) – Available from My Haircare

O&M Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray

I love using this Surf Bomb Sea Salt Spray in my little 20 month old boy. He has very fine blonde hair, and because it is so fine, I so far haven’t had much luck using other styling products in his hair, as being so fine it back to being flat in no time. But not with the Surf Bomb, it actually works. It adds a little volume to his hair, all while adding a nice texture and hold. It doesn’t go stiff in the hair, so even though me runs his hands through his hair, which he often does, trying to style his own hair, - you can continue to set it throughout the day into an effortless and casual look. I love that it doesn’t leave his hair feeling sticky, and it smells amazing too!

RRP: $23 (150ml) – Available from Miss Pearl Store

So there you go, three different Sea Salt Sprays, all with different formulas and benefits, and at different price points too, so there is something for everyone and for every occasion!

Do you ever use Sea Salt Sprays? Any recommendations? What do you use to add texture to your hair?

What I Say:

Before I start talking about these products, let me introduce you to nails Inc. London. The company was founded in 1999 by Thea Green, who was just 24 years old and working as a Fashion Editor in London. Thea spotted a gap in the market for professional high quality manicures and a more fashion forward range of products for women with little time to spare and she set about launching nails inc. With lots of hard work and plenty of creativity, nails inc was born. She began developing the nails inc product range and opening the first nails inc salon on South Molton Street near London’s Bond Street. The store opened to queues down the street, eager to try the now famous 15 minute manicure and the professional, fashion inspired product range.

nails inc is now stocked in some of the world’s most sought after stores including Selfridges, Liberty of London, Sephora and Kitson (USA).

All polishes are free of Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene, and named after iconic UK destinations and streets in London in order to really celebrate nails inc’s British and London heritage. The range includes everything from super glossy crème shades, liquid metals, sprinkles, shimmery metallic and glitter shades, magnetic polishes with wave, fishnet and star designs, Mirror Metallics in duo-chrome & multi-facetted metallic finishes, and 3D Glitter & Nail Jewellery finishes, Crackle topcoats, Holographic and Overglaze top coats – so nails inc really does have something for everyone, every outfit and every occasion.

The Gel Effect Nail Polish in Bond St is a rich dark purple shade, and it gives a nice streak-free high shine, glossy finish. The deep colour is gorgeous.

The Leather Effect Nail Polish in Dalston is a pale turquoise shade, a little ‘Tiffany’ style, which is absolutely stunning, and the perfect for spring and summer.

It applies glossy, but once dry, it is a matte leather-look texture, almost as if there is very fine sand put into the polish. It comes in a bottle with a leather-effect cap.

The Bermondsey Denim Effect is a indigo shaded polish that applies glossy and dries down to a matte textured denim effect finish. It is a perfect casual shade and effect, although it looks just a stunning for a special night out.

The Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Top coat is a top cot that not only extends the wear of your manicure preventing it from fading, chipping and breaking, but it also give it an wet look with the most incredible shine, almost as if you’ve got gel nails.

Overall I love these nail polishes. The quality is fantastic, and they are so easy to apply. And the wear is pretty good too, lasting 5+ days when using a top coat. Unfortunately, if you use a top coat on the Leather Effect and the Denim Effect, it means that you do lose the effect, which I think is such a shame. But it also means that the wear of these is slightly shorter too with about 3+ days, which however can be extended slightly if you use an undercoat prior to applying them.

In terms of cost, these polishes are amongst the more expensive ones on the market, but there are so many unique colours and textures in the range, and with the high quality, I find that they are completely worth it – and I’ve already got my eyes on some more shades..
