PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OCCITANE EN PROVENCE BRIGHTENING RANGE

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, I’d know that I adore the products from L’Occitane, so when I was asked to trial some products from the newly launched Immortelle Brightening Range, I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts on the L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Eye Care & Mask Duo Brightening Correction and the Immortelle Brightening Essence;

What They Say:

Eye Care & Mask Duo Brightening Correction: This triple-action formula works both as a daily eye cream and an eye-contour mask for visible results. First, the eye area is smoothed: skin looks firmer and the appearance of wrinkles is greatly reduced. Second, an even and luminous eye area emerges: the eye contour seems brightened with Bellis Perennis extract. Third, a fresh and rested look is achieved: puffiness and dark circles due to age, stress and fatigue appear minimized through the action of caffeine. As part of our Brightening Collection, this correction eye treatment contains extract from the Immortelle flower, which never fades, even after it has been picked. Organic Immortelle is rich in active molecules with unique anti-ageing results.
RRP: $60 (15ml) – Available from L’Occitane

Brightening Essence contains a concentrate of the flowers of light, Immortelle and Bellis Perennis to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, even out skin tone and illuminate the complexion. The reformulated serum helps to diminish the appearance of wrinkles while making the complexion more even-toned and brighter thanks to its ultra-concentrated formula. After seven days, a more luminous complexion emerges: skin better reflects light thanks to Wintergreen leaf and Garden Nasturtium extracts that help natural exfoliation and smooth skin micro-relief. Over time, skin becomes smoother and the appearance of wrinkles is visibly reduced. A combination of Bellis Perennis extract and a derivative of Vitamin C helps to unify and brighten the complexion.
RRP: $89 (30ml) – Available from L’Occitane

What I Say:

The Immortelle Brightening Eye Care & Mask Duo Brightening Correction has as the name suggests, two functions – it can be used either as an eye cream, or alternatively as an eye mask. It has the consistency of a gel cream that can be used both morning and evening, and it has a soothing and cooling applicator to help you gently spread the gel across they eye area, and give it a gentle massage.

Because of the light gel consistency, the cream absorbs instantly into the skin, which means that if use during the day, you can apply you makeup immediately afterwards.

After application the skin around the eye area instantly looks smoother, and after using if for a month or so, I generally feel that fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable, and bags under the eyes have reduced in appearance too, and hence the eye area simply looks fresher, brighter and more awake.
I have to admit to mostly having used it as an eye cream, but you can use it as a mask as well, simply by applying a thicker layer and leaving it on for 10 minutes or so, before wiping off any excess, without rinsing it off. When I have used it as a mask, I have done so at night, so that I can clearly see the benefits in the morning when I wake up too! And I do really love the effect of the cream when used as a mask, and the only reason I simply forget to use it as a mask, whereas it is such a habit applying an eye cream!

The Immortelle Brightening Essence is a very light serum that can be used both morning and evening to clean and dry skin, before your moisturiser. The serum has a dropper applicator that makes it easy to dispense just the few drops a required, and in fact you just need 2-3 drops to cover your full face, so the bottle will last you a long time. The essence has a beautiful gentle and fresh floral scent that does fade little after little.

The Essence is incredibly light, and it absorbs extremely fast into the skin, and leaves no greasiness or tackiness behind, so you wouldn’t even know you wearing it, if it wasn’t for the velvety soft skin you left with.

And already after using the Essence for a few days I started to notice a difference in my skin. My skin simply started to feel softer and smoother, thanks to ingredients that helps natural exfoliation. But my skin also looked brighter and more glowing, and more plumb too, which consequently means that fine lines and wrinkles seemed to have reduced in size too. And in addition, my combination skin, actually also started to feel less oily, especially in the t-zone area. As for minimising pigmentation, while I do feel that the Essence has left my skin with a nice glow, I am not sure that it has made any major difference to my pigmentation – however, here it is also important to mention that I am pregnant, and have noticed increased pigmentation during my pregnancy, so the Essence has also been fighting an up-hill impossible battle!

Overall, L’Occitane has managed to impress me yet again. Both the Brightening Essence and the Eye Care & Mask Duo are both beautiful products and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using them, and the fact that already after just a few days of use, I could see the improvement in my skin, means that I definitely wouldn’t hesitate purchasing these products again, as well as try the rest of the products available in the range!

PRODUCT REVIEW: DERMALOGICA AGE SMART

Today I’d like to put focus on a range of amazing products from the Dermalogica AGE Smart line;

Dermalogica AGE Smart Super Rich Repair

This Super Rich Repair cream is as name suggests a super nourishing, heavyweight skin treatment cream that helps combat chronically dry, dehydrated skin while replenishing critical moisture levels. It contains among others powerful peptides help stimulate collagen production while an acid-free smoothing complex helps improve elasticity and tone. It can be used both day and night, only it does not contain SPF, so you’ll need to add that on top during the day. The cream a little thicker than what I’m used to, and you can instantly feel how nourishing and moisturising it is. Because it is so rich it also takes a little while to absorb properly into the skin. I love that it has been made without artificial fragrances or colours, and as such, it also has next to no scent. However, unfortunately on my combination skin it is sadly a little too heavy, even for use only at night as I wake up feeling my skin is over greasy, but that said, it is also designed specifically for dry skin, so if that’s you, you’re going to love this one. RRP: $117/50ml

Dermalogica AGE Smart Overnight Repair Serum

This Overnight Repair Serum has specifically designed to use during nighttime to repair skin and minimise fine lines. It comes in a small bottle with just 15ml which may look tiny at first glance, however just few drops is more than sufficient pressed into the skin, or alternatively mixed into your moisturiser. It contains peptide serum that helps stimulate collagen production to help firm and renew resilience and smooth fine lines as well as Argan and Rose oils to revitalise dull skin and give it a new glow. Often intensive anti-ageing serums are too heavy for my before mentioned combination skin, so I’m always cautious when trying new products in the fear that it will make my acne prone skin go bonkers. But surprisingly, my skin doesn’t feel any greasier than usual after using this, and nor do I wake up in the mornings feeling that it is congested. I can definitely feel that my skin is getting a moisture boost and for that reason also looks healthier, but also I feel that I can notice that finer lines have been plumbed out I don’t feel that my skin as such needs this every night especially during the warmer summer months when my skin tends to be even greasier, but come winter it will be perfect. RRP: $95 /15ml

Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant

This Multivitamin Thermafoliant is a self-heating skin polisher that combines both physical and chemical exfoliants. The resurfacing microgranules gently polish dead and dull skin cells off to reveal a smoother and fresher skin. The thermal technology which activates upon contact with water, stimulates the chemical exfoliants including lactic acid and salicylic acid as well as retinol to cleanse deep down each pore and to refine the skin texture making it significantly smoother and softer and more radiant as well as promote firmness, and enhance penetration of age-fighting vitamins into skin. It also contains antioxidants to defend against free radicals. Of the line-up of products today, this is one of my favourites, as from the very first use I could see and feel that it is making a significantly difference to the look and feel of my skin. My skin simply not only feels cleaner, it is also smoother, and my pores seem smaller and my skin less greasy, and consequently I feel that I am getting less breakouts. RRP: $76 / 75ml

Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Power Serum
This Multivitamin Power Serum which is to be used before your moisturiser morning and night, contains micro encapsulated vitamins A, C and E to help retexture and revitalise the skin, increase skin recovery, decrease fine lines and age spots including hyperpigmentation, all while also defending against skin ageing. In addition to the vitamins, the serum also contains skin-strengthening protein peptide, which help boos elasticity levels and overrides biochemical triggers that lead to skin aging. Formulated without artificial fragrances and colours. The serum comes in a small 22ml tube, but just a tiny bit is sufficient, and the silky serum instantly makes the skin feel smooth and dewy like silk, and by easy use, I feel that my skin is looking better and better with some fine lines appearing decreased in size and my skin looking more glowing and radiant too. Simply the perfect supercharged anti-ageing product. RRP: $90 / 22ml

Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Power Rescue Masque
This Multivitamin Power Rescue Masque is designed help stressed and ageing skin, to combat dull, dehydrated, lacklustre and photo-damaged skin. The mask is jam-packed with among others vitamin A, C and E as well as botanicals extracts and linoleic acid to help rejuvenate the skin and help enhance barrier properties, soften and moisture the skin and increase elasticity. It also nourishes and repairs damaged skin. Unlike other masks that often seem to dry out the skin, this Rescue Mask doesn’t, but rather soothes my skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and with a healthy glow. I use it once or twice a weeks I feel is required, (and time permits), and after leaving it on for just 10 to 15 minutes, and the effects truly are amazing, even for days after use. RRP: $70/75ml

So there you go, some of the products from the Dermalogica AGE Smart range. And if you’re as serious about anti-ageing as I am, trying to correct already done and prevent further from occurring then you definitely cannot go past these products.

The Dermalogica products are available from select retailers, including
RY, Adore Beauty and Active Skin

PRODUCT REVIEW: BIODERMA HYDRABIO

Today I’d like to share with the Hydrabio Range from BioDerma...

What They Say:

The Bioderma Hydrabio range is designed for dehydrated sensitive skin. Every day, pollution, stress, cold weather, etc. disrupt the skin's cellular activity. It no longer knows how to deeply generate or retain on the surface the water it needs for its natural balance. The skin becomes dehydrated, uncomfortable and more sensitive and loses its radiance. Found in the full range of Hydrabio products, the Aquagenium patent stimulates the skin's cellular capacities and reactivates its natural hydration process.

What I Say:

I am relatively new to Bioderma having only tried a few smaller samples from beauty subscription boxes, but I do like the fact that the products are designed to treat skin conditions while working to treat and fix the issue.

The Bioderma Hydrabio range has been designed for dehydrated and sensitive skin, and I have to say that generally my skin is classified combination, although it is definitely more oily in the warmer months of the year, while it does tend to get a little drier in the winter months, probably from a combination of not drinking enough water, and spending too much time indoors with the heater going. So all in all it does mean that I do tend to use slightly heavier moisturisers and cleansers that are more gentle during those months.

Now onto the products..

The Bioderma Exfoliating Cream which is described as a gentle exfoliating scrub that contains tiny microbeads that gently cleanses the skin deep down every pore to get rid of build-up of dry skin, and excess oil, dirt and sebum. It is recommended to use this scrub at night time, once or twice per week, but as it is so gentle (and I don’t have sensitive skin), I do find that I can use it every second day without any issues. When you first use it, you may find that it is not doing much to your skin in terms of exfoliation, but after use, the skin is left soft and smooth and clearly more glowing. The scrub has an RRP of $39.95 (75ml) from Priceline, which you may find a little pricey, but if you need a gentle scrub, then it is definitely worth the price tag.

The Bioderma Hydrabio H20 Micelle Solution is a super gentle makeup remover that removes makeup including waterproof eye makeup. The micellar water contains fatty acid esters that help rebuild the skin's hydrolipidic film, activate the skins natural moisturising capabilities and retain the water the skin needs to be balanced. The Micelle Solution is best used by soaking a cotton pad, and as it is so gentle and non-greasy too, there is no need to rinse your face afterwards. And as it is so gentle, it also doesn’t sting in my sensitive eyes, unlike many other eye makeup removers. The Micelle Solution can also be used to cleanse your face in the morning to remove all any trace of excess sebum produced during the night, again, all while adding extra moisture to the skin. The Micelle Solution has an RRP of $29.99 (250ml), which I personally find great value, as even if it is just used to remove eye makeup up, it will last you a very long time!

Next is the Bioderma Hydrabio Moisturising Toning Lotion. I have to admit to not using a toner very often. Well, that is, I’ve been using one from Clinique for years when I’ve been prone to breakouts, but since I was pregnant last, I dropped that from my skincare routine. So a moisturising tone is new to me. This toner both removes any makeup and cleanser residue left on the skin, at the same time as adding extra moisture to the skin. I do quite like the feeling of the liquid lotion when I wipe it over my skin with a soaked cotton pad, and can see that my skin is enjoying it, especially not that the weather is getting colder. I also love that it is so gentle that I can even use it around my eyes. RRP: $29.99 (250ml)

The Bioderma Hydrabio Moisturising Concentrate has a lovely light gel consistency, and although it is intended for very dehydrated skin, I love the light refreshing texture on my skin and that it absorbs so quickly and easily. The serum contains a complex that simulates the skin’s cellular capabilities, and retrains it to generate in depth while locking in moisture and hydration to the skin. The serum can be used both morning and night, either alone or before a moisturiser. RRP: $42.99 (30ml)

Finally, there are two different moisturisers, the Hydrabio Riche for very hydrated skin, and the Hydrabio Legere for hydrated skin. With my combination skin, I prefer the Legere moisturiser, as it is simply lighter in consistency on my sink, and hence also seems to absorb quicker, all while still providing my skin with the moisture that it needs, and without making my skin feel greasy. So t is also perfect for using during the day under makeup, as well as at night. However, if you skin is normal to dry, you will no doubt like the Riche moisturiser. I have passed it on to my hubby who has a normal skin type, and he quite likes it, and that it also has a very subtle gentle scent. RRP: Each $39.99 (40ml)

The Serum and the Moisturisers all come in white bottles with a blue lid, and all have pumps , which makes them easy and convenient to use. The Exfoliating Scrub comes in a standard up-side-town squeeze tube, and the Micelle Lotion and the Toning Lotion both come in see-through bottles so you can easily see how much product that you have left. I also love the blue colour of the Toning Lotion that also makes it easy to distinguish from the clear Micelle Lotion.

All in all I really like this range, even in spite of not having neither dry nor sensitive skin. I like that the products are so gentle, as I believe that it never hurts to use gentle products, even without having sensitive skin. I really like that my skin feels thoroughly moisturised, even when I’ve just washed it, and consequently I also feel that it has a nice glow to it.

I can definitely see myself purchasing the Micelle Lotion, the Toning Lotion, the Exfoliating Scrub and the Serum again, as well as I am also enjoying the Legere Moisturiser and the fact that it doesn’t seem to make my skin break out, which is rare for an intense moisture – so overall, really, this is a big tick of approval!

All the Bioderma Hydrabio products are available from Priceline

BRAND FOCUS: JOHNSON'S BABY CARE

Today on the blog I’d like to put focus on the baby care products from Johnson’s.

Johnson's baby Bedtime Bath and Bedtime Lotion

This bath gel and moisturising lotion has been specifically been designed to use at night time. It contains a something Johnson’s calls ‘Naturalcalm’ essences, which is a unique blend of gentle ingredients and soothing aromas, including soothing lavender which is said to have been clinically proven to help calm your bay and make then sleep better.

I’ve been using the products on my toddler for quite a while, and have to admit that I’ve not noticed that he sleeps any better when we’ve used it in his nightly bath, but in saying that, he is a pretty good sleeper as it is. However, we’ve continued to use the products as they have such a lovely pleasant calming lavender scent that is gentle without being too overpowering.
Both the Bath Gel and the Moisturising Lotion are very gentle, and my little boy loves that the bath gel gives him lots of bubbles to play with in the bath, which I love that it gently cleanses his skin without drying it out. As for the Moisturising Lotion, it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave behind any greasy residue. RRP: $5.49 (200ml) each

Johnson's Baby Bath

According to the bottle, this Baby Bath is ‘as gentle to the skin as pure water’ which is what any mum wants to hear about the products used on her babies. The soap-free formula, has a tear-free formula that won’t irritate eyes, and will give your little one lots of soft bubbles to play with in the bath, all while gently cleansing the skin, without drying it out of irritating it. It has a very pleasant and gentle powdery scent. RRP: $5.49 (200ml) each

Johnson’s Baby Top-To-Toe

This is another tear-free soap that again is claimed to be as ‘gentle as water on the skin’, so it is even suitable for use on a newborns sensitive skin. It has a lovely mild scent that is gentle and perfect for a baby. I also love that it is an all-in-one product that can be used both as a body wash and a shampoo, and combined with the convenient pump that comes with the large bottle, makes it so much easier and quicker to use at bath time. It gently cleanses skin and hair without drying it out, and irritating, and the soap also makes soft bubbles in the bath, so it truly is a multi-tasking product. RRP: $8.59 (500ml)

Johnson's Baby Cleansing Wipes

We’ve never had any issues using baby wipes on our 2.5 year old’s bum, but for some reason they irritated our little newborn, so we’ve had to resort to using cotton balls and water only, and in no time his irritated skin cleared up. Unfortunately that is a little cumbersome when you’re out and about, and that’s where I love the fact that these Baby Cleansing Wipes are water-based, and again, as ‘mild on the skin as pure water’. This also means that the wipes are also ideal for use on messy hands, faces, which most other baby wipes are not. So the thick and big wipes are also perfect to keep in the car and in the nappy bag to deal with any messy situation from dirty bottoms to grotty fingers and faces. RRP: $4.49 (80 wipes)

Johnson's baby Oil

This baby oil has designed to soothe and condition the skin and it is perfect to use for baby massages. The oil is very concentrated so just a few drops is all that is needed, and afterwards your baby’s skin is left soft and moisturised, yet without any greasiness. My boys don’t normally suffer from dry skin, but as most others, their skin does tend to become drier during winter – and that’s when I like to add just a few drops to the bath water, and it instantly leaves the skin super soft – so it is also perfect when you’ve got an older toddler who no longer wants to sit still while you moisturise his body! The baby oil is also doubles as the perfect eye makeup remover. It is not only cheap, but it also quickly and easily removes even long-wearing waterproof eye makeup, including mascara! RRP: $5.49 (200ml)

Johnson's baby Lotion

This is a good basic baby moisturiser, that is not only gentle so it is perfect for sensitive skin but also very effective at keeping the baby’s skin soft and moisturised, without making it feel sticky or greasy – for up to 24 hours!! And of course it is just as suitable for use by adults too, also because as with the rest of the Johnson’s baby products, this baby Lotion has a very gentle scent that quickly fades once the cream has absorbed into the skin. RRP: $5.49 (200ml)

Johnson's baby Powder

I’ve been using baby powder on my 2.5 year old boy after most nappy changes, as it helps absorb any moisture from the nappy area and hence help protect against any nappy rash or irritations. The powder is very gentle and has a soft gentle powdery scent, and a little goes a very long way, so while it may not look much in the bottle it will last you a very long time. It is also perfect to use in the skin folds of a young baby, again to avoid any skin irritations caused by excess moisture. And I also know of several adults that frequently use this powder, to not only absorb any moisture and sweat from the body, hands and feet, to prevent and soothe chaffing, or as a volume powder for the hair!! RRP: $2.79 (200g)

So there you go, a selection of Johnson’s baby care products, which are all great products available at bargain prices. On the negative side, I do wish that the products would be free from artificial fragrances, and that they would be free from harsh chemicals. I had to pick my favourite products of the bunch, it would no doubt have to be the Bedtime Bath and Bedtime Lotion, the Baby Bath and the Baby Cleansing Wipes!

All the Johnson’s Baby products are available from Priceline, supermarkets, variety stores and pharmacies.

Have you ever used any of the Johnson’s Baby products? Any favourites?

PRODUCT REVIEW: MEDIK8 WHITE BALANCE DUO DAY & NIGHT MULTI-ACTION CREAMS

Today I’d like to share with you some newly launched products from the brand Medik8, one of my favourite cosmeceutical brands. The product, White Balance Duo contains 2 products that have been designed to target visible signs of UV induced pigmentation including dark spots, age spots, freckles, blotchiness, sun damage, uneven skin tone and melasma, and to prevent ongoing damage.

The first product is a brightening cream to use during the day, and the second one a cream for night-time use. These two products work together to target long lasting visible pigmentation and brightening benefits to the skin, all while also offering moisture and anti-ageing benefits to the skin.

The day cream has added sunscreen to protect your skin for further sun damage. It feels light on the skin, so also perfect for my combination skin. It quickly absorbs and makes the skin feel soft, and dewy as well as instantly more even and bright, thanks to the included light reflective pigments.

The White Balance Day Cream contains among others;

  • Oxy-R (Oxyresveratrol) , skin brightening agent which inhibits melanin production.
  • Reflective Pigments - for instant brightening and a more even skin tone upon application
  • Vitamin C: antioxidant, which has anti-inflammatory qualities and neutralises free radicals and protects the skin against UV-induced pigmentation.
  • Niacinamide: vitamin B3 improves skin moisturisation, and acts as an antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory action, and skin brightening properties.
  • Moisturise MagnetsTM - a trademarked combination of saccharide isomerate and isosorbide dicaprylate to drawn in and retain moisture in the skin.

The night-time cream is slightly thicker and more moisturising, yet still doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. It as most night creams, and it also works on brightening and evening the skin tone. Like the day cream, the night cream also contains Oxy-R (Oxyresveratrol), an skin brightening agent which inhibits melanin production. In addition, the night cream also contains niacinamide to help reduce dark spots and inflammation while improving the overall appearance of skin.

White Balance Night contains among others;

  • Oxy-R (Oxyresveratrol), a skin brightening agent which inhibits melanin production.
  • Gluconolactone - a polyhydroxy acid (PHA) which increases cell turnover to help blend away stubborn pigmentation areas overnight. Also acts as a humectant drawing moisture into the skin.
  • Liquorice & Mulberry Extract: Natural and powerful skin brightening extracts. Also provides antioxidant and antiseptic benefits to the skin.
  • Vitamin E: antioxidant, reduces UV-induced discolouration and has anti-ageing benefits.
  • Niacinamide: vitamin B3 improves skin moisturisation, acts as an antioxidant, has anti-inflammatory action, and skin brightening properties.

Years of sun worshipping and two pregnancies and my skin is sadly a lot more pigmented and blotchy than I like it to be, and consequently I rarely leave the house without wearing foundation. But after using this duo for a month or so, I am very pleased to say that I have noticed that my skin is a lot more even and brighter. Areas of pigmentation have definitely evened out, and my complexion is simply brighter and more glowing. So if you too are concerned with pigmentation and uneven skin tone, then I definitely recommend that you give these products a go!

Medik8 White Balance Duo contains 2 x 30mL tubes, RRP: $129 and is available from Medik8 here

PRODUCT REVIEW: DREAMBABY STROLLERBUDDY STROLLER ORGANISER

With a baby and a 2.5 year old toddler, when we leave the house, packing up takes forever as there simply are so many things to pack from nappies, spare clothes, toys, and not to mention snacks and bottles – and packing everything into my already overloaded nappy bag, which consequently is also always in a huge mess thanks to the sheer quantity of things it has to hold!

But with this Strollerbuddy Stroller Organiser from DreamBaby getting out and about is simply easier, as it quickly and easily attaches to all types of strollers and prams thanks to the thick and sturdy straps.

The Stroller organiser has pockets for two bottles, and also has a storage compartment in the centre between the two bottle compartments, where you can store your mobile phone or keys. It also has a convenient large mesh pouch where you can store things such as toys and the like.

While, again, with two kids both still needing nappies, this Stroller Organiser does not offer sufficient storage for us when we are going on longer trips, but even so, I like having it attached it to the handle of the pram so that the necessary items are within easy reach and I can then store my large and bulky nappy bag underneath the pram.

Used on its own, it is perfect for when you’re going for walks or for when going to the playground, as again, it easily stores the necessities such as drinks, snacks, hats and sunnies and other smaller essentials.

I am so enjoying using this Stroller Organiser that I wish I’d had one a lot earlier! Definitely highly recommended!

The Dreambaby Strollerbuddy™ Stroller Organiser has an RRP of $24.95 and is available from all Baby Goods Retailers.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LANCOME MIRACLE CUSHION FOUNDATION

Using the right foundation is vital to your whole makeup, so I am always on the quest to find the next big thing, so when I was offered to trial the newest one from Lancome, the Miracle Cushion, I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts;

What They Say;
A foundation revolution has arrived - liquid foundation in a compact. Finally, a liquid foundation you can take anywhere. A cushion releases the perfect amount of makeup for effortless application, creating a fresh glow in just seconds. This lightweight and refreshing formula contains SPF 23, hydrating, anti-ageing and brightening benefits. Available in 6 shades.

RRP: $60 – Available from Lancome

What I Say:
For some reason Koreans seem to be very innovative with the development of skincare and makeup, and hence, they have long been selling cushion compacts where the foundation is absorbed into a sponge, and now Lancome has also introduced Miracle Cushion. This foundation in the cushion is not just a foundation, but a combination of foundation and skincare, caring for the skin, both in terms of moisturising the skin, but also offering anti-ageing, and anti-pigmentation properties.

To apply, you simply press the applicator onto this soaked sponge, and the foundation spreads evenly onto the sponge, and consequently also onto the skin, without any mess. In short, this a liquid foundation in a portable compact. How clever!!

The actual foundation is very lightweight, and is so easy to apply with the sponge, and you can easily decide on the level of cover, from very light, to a more full coverage, depending on how much you apply and by adding another layer – all while still looking very natural.

The foundation leaves the skin looking fresh and with a healthy glow and a natural dewy finish. It easily blurs any minor pigmentation, redness and blemishes, and seems to minimise the size of my pores at the same time too. And it feels so comfortable on the skin, almost as if you’re not wearing any foundation at all, it simply leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, which is where you really realise that it is in fact part skincare too.
The foundation also lasts really well on the skin – I have combination skin, which admittedly is a little drier during these cold winter months, but still I often struggle getting my makeup to last past lunch time. But using a primer first, I found that the Miracle Cushion Foundation lasted well on my skin all day, without fading or changing colours, and without settling into fine lines either.

The actual compact, is sturdy and stylish, and has an inbuilt mirror which makes any touch-ups on the go very easy.
I tried the shade 03 Beige Peche, which is a little dark for my medium beige skin tone, which however is a little paler than it usually is during winter as being pregnant I simply couldn’t stand being in the sun during summer- but fingers crossed that by spring and summer where I’ll have a little more colour in my face, it will be the perfect shade.

Overall I really love this foundation. It feels so beautiful on the skin, and I love that you can easily build up the coverage where you need it to cover any imperfections, yet while maintaining that barely there look with a nice glow. And I love that it stays put on my skin all day, still looking almost freshly applied when I take it off at night! And of course, I love that it actually cares for and treats my skin while I wear it too. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate repurchasing this again!

PRODUCT REVIEW: SISLEY PARIS EAU TROPICALE EAU DE TOILETTE AND PERFUMED BODY LOTION

Not long ago Sisley Paris launched the Eau Tropicale Eau Toilette, and now to complement a matching Perfumed Body Lotion has also been introduced.

The fragrance is a fresh and floral scent with top notes of zesty Bergamot, lemon and Ginger, while floral touches in the middle notes from Tuberose, Violet and Rose have been added too. Finally, woody scents in the base notes include Patchouli, Ambrette seeds and cedar.

In spite of the woody notes, it is a very light fragrance, and the fresh zesty and floral scent makes it perfect for a summer scent.

As it is light, it consequently is not very strong, which I find is the norm with light fragrances, but yet, it does manage to last throughout even the hottest of days.

However, when using it together with the matching Perfumed Body Lotion, it will not only intensify the scent, it will also make it last even longer. And all while the light Body Lotion cares for the skin thanks to hibiscus extract , joih extract and glycerine instantly moisturises the skin, while phytosqualane comforts the skin. It also contains extract from frangipani to soothe the skin, Pro-Vitamin B5 to soften it, Vitamin E acetate to combat free radicals and Butcher’s Broom extract to tone.

And the cream is seriously divine. It absorbs instantly, and leaves the skin feeling silky soft and velvety smooth, and with that gorgeous scent lingering.

This is the first fragranced products from Sisley Paris that I’ve ever tried, but I’m really impressed and find that I’m reaching for them a lot, so it certainly won’t be the last ones, and there are several others from the brand that I’m pretty keen on checking out!

The Eau Tropicale Eau de Toilette (50ml), has an RRP of $110, while the Perfumed Body Lotion (150ml) is also $110.

The products are available from Sisley Paris Online or from David Jones

A little while ago I was lucky to be sent some of Physicians Formula’s newly launched products. Amongst these were a new range called Argan Wear. Here are my thoughts on the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Blush, Bronzer, BB Cream and Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil;

Infused with 100% Pure Argan Oil, known as liquid gold for its rich conditioning benefits that can improve skin's brightness, tone, texture and elasticity. Smoothing the appearance of fine lines, brightening dull skin and renewing suppleness, helping to enhance skin's youthful glow. RRP: $29.95 (11g)

What I Say:

With the Argan Wear range all the products are enriched with 100% pure argan oil from Morocco that is intended to have a nourishing effect on the skin.

The Physicians Formula Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil comes in a very cute glass bottle with a gold lid, and contains 100% Pure Argan Oil, and I really like that it is completely natural. It is also a true multi-tasking product as it can be used on face, body hair and nails. Unfortunately I instantly felt that it was too greasy to use on my combination skin, as it simply made it feel greasy within a few hours, so I cannot really comment on how it performed on smoothing the appearance of fine lines, brightening the skin and give it a nice glow. I did however enjoy using it in my hair to smooth down frizz, and add extra moisture to dry ends, and also enjoyed using on my nails and cuticles, which are very dry and neglected and clearly benefitted from the rich oil. That said, I am not sure that I would repurchase this again, for the pure reason that I believe that there are hair and nail oils available, at a budget friendlier price.

Physicians Formula BB Cream is a very light cream that has a light coverage, that however, can built up ever so slightly where needed, although I still find that I need to use a concealer to cover under eye circles, blemishes and darker areas of pigmentation. The BB Cream is easy to apply and blend with your fingers, although of course you can use a sponge or makeup brush too. And it leaves you with a nice natural finish and healthy glow. Personally I do prefer foundations with a slightly better coverage, but that’s probably mainly because I feel I’ve got a lot of pigmentation and scarring from past acne to cover. However, the BB cream is perfect for casual days or when you want a very natural ‘no-makeup’ look. It lasts fairly well on my combination skin although I do need to use a primer first to make it last the day.

Physicians Formula Argan Wear Blush

The first thing you notice when you see this Argan Wear Blush is the pretty Moroccan inspired design of the powder. Absolutely stunning with a mix of pink shades with gold glitter. The gold glitter on top is luckily just sitting on top of the powder and once you’ve used it a few times ,it is more or less gone, - although I have to admit to trying to scrape it off, as I have to say that I prefer it without the gold as I find it a little too much - well, at least I think it is on my ageing skin, and I much prefer just a subtle amount of shimmer and not the intense shine and glitter that the gold gives. The blush comes in two shades, Rose and Neutral with the Rose shade having slightly brighter shades of pink. At the moment I prefer the Neutral shade, but that is probably because I’m quite winter pale and hence find the more subtle shade suits my skin better, but come summer and I get a little more colour in my face, I’m sure that will change. The blush is fairly pigmented, so you can easily build up the colour, while also blend it out to be quite understated and sheer. Once you get rid of the golden glitter on top, the blush gives you a nice but subtle sheen and a healthy radiance thanks to light reflecting pigments

The blushes come in slightly bulky gold plastic compacts, which includes a mirror and also a small brush hidden in a compartment underneath the blush. Personally I prefer applying blush with my own better quality and larger brushes, and I rarely apply blush on the go, so I would have preferred to see a smaller more slimline packaging and not have the brush included.

Like the blush, the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Bronzer comes in a similar, although slightly larger, gold plastic compact with a mirror and a little brush hidden in a compartment underneath the powder. It comes in two different shades, light bronze and bronze, which are both warm toned, and at this point, having a winter-pale skin, I have preferred the lighter shade finding it a better match for my skin. The bronzer is also very pigmented, so you have to be cautious or you will be applying too much –but I find that easier to control with one of my own softer powder brushes, than one of the included brushes. And as with the blush, as I rarely apply makeup on the go, I would again prefer to see a slightly smaller compact and do without the brush – which by the way I also find a little stiff, so sadly I also found that it did scratch up the pretty pattern on the bronzer rather quickly.

But a light sweep gives your skin a nice healthy glow that still looks natural without looking too orange, unlike other bronzers. It also gives the skin a nice subtle sheen (once you get rid of the golden glitter overspray on the top of the bronzer), that gives you kind of a lit-from-within glow. The powder is also quite soft and fine, so it blends easily and sits nicely on the skin without looking cakey, and doesn’t tend to settle into fine lines during the day.

Overall these Argan Wear products from Physicians Formula are all quite lovely, and they not only look beautiful in their packaging, they also feel lovely on the skin and as a god wear. All the products are reasonably priced, on par with other drugstore products and they have a very high quality. While all four products are lovely, the standout products for me were definitely the blush and the bronzer – they are both very pigmented and I wouldn’t hesitate purchasing these again!

PRODUCT REVIEW: BURT'S BEES NEW FACIAL CLENSING TOWLETTES

I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I am not the biggest user of Facial Cleansing Wipes. I know they are very popular, but still, I just prefer to use a foaming cleanser and splash water in my face afterwards. But with a sick baby and a toddler, sometimes I am simply so tired at night that I just want to get to bed as quickly as possible, and I almost just cannot be bothered cleaning my face before bedtime – something that I never fail to do - and with my combination skin prone to breakouts simply cannot skip. And that’s where the Facial wipes come in handy. Here are my thoughts on the Facial Cleansing Towelettes from Burt’s Bees;

What They Say:

Facial Cleansing Towelettes – Cucumber & Sage. A soothing clean you can unwind to. Specially crafted for normal to dry skin. Our soothing Cucumber and Sage Towelettes remove makeup, cleanse, and tone in one easy step, leaving skin naturally clean without the need for rinsing. 99.1% Natural

RRP: $9.95 (30 Wipes) – Available from Myer and Burt’s Bees Online

Facial Cleansing Towelettes - Pink Grapefruit. From greasy to breezy, lickety split. Specially crafted for normal to oily skin, our invigorating pink grapefruit towelettes cleanse away pore-clogging dirt, oil and even makeup, for naturally clean skin with no heavy residue—and no rinsing. Gentle enough for daily use, even on acne-prone skin. 99.1 % Natural

RRP: $9.95 (30 Wipes) – Available from Myer and Burt’s Bees Online

What I Say:

I love the fact that the products from Burt’s Bees have been made using as natural ingredients as possible, which also means that they do not contain any parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS, and in fact, these wipes are 99.1% natural. My only hesitation was when I smelt the wipes, and realised how nice they smelt, and thought that they had added fragrance, so when I realised they in fact have been scented with natural fragrance too, I was very relieved! And they are definitely the nicest scented wipes I’ve come across.

There are two different types of wipes, a green pack with wipes for normal to dry skin, containing cucumber and Sage, as well as a pink pack with wipes for normal to oily skin containing pink grapefruit. And again, while both smell fantastic, I do prefer the fresh of the pink grapefruit.

Both types of wipes claim to remove dirt, oil and makeup without rinsing, and generally I can agree to that – although I did find that they were struggling a little one day I was wearing a 24HR makeup, but in saying that, even the best of makeup removers sometimes struggle with long wearing makeup. I also find that they are not quite sufficient to remove waterproof makeup, and in particularly mascara, but personally I don’t mind as I prefer to use a specific eye makeup remover anyway! And besides, I do also prefer to use the wipes at night on the days where I have not worn makeup, but still want to cleanse my face before going to bed.

The wipes have a good size and have just the right ‘wetness’, not too wet, and not too dry, and I have to admit that it can be convenient that you don’t have to rinse your face afterwards. This also means that they are perfect for long haul flights!

For my skin type I prefer the Pink Grapefruit wipes, although now we are heading towards winter, I am noticing my skin getting a little drier, so I am enjoying using both types. I also like that after use ,my skin feels soft and smooth, and not sticky or greasy at all, as well as it doesn’t feel dried out, even when using the wipes for oily skin.

The wipes comes in a small pack with a convenient plastic lid, that ensures your wipes wont dry out. At $9.95 for a pack of 30 wipes, they are probably amongst some of the more expensive wipes on the market, but if you are looking for more natural (and beautifully scented) wipes, then they are absolutely worth it!
