PRODUCT REVIEW: MEDIK8 BLEMISH CONTROL PADS - CLEAR SKIN WITH A SINGLE WIPE

My skin has always been a little temperamental, and lately gone through another stage of breakouts. One of those brands that I've really loved lately has been Medik8, as their products are of premium quality, and so effective, while being gentle on the skin. I've among others put some of their blemish products to the test recently, which you can check out here.
Anyway when the newest addition, the Medik8 Blemish Control Pads landed on my desk, I was naturally excited, as timing again couldn’t be any better with the current state of my skin. And what better time to put a blemish product to the test to.

The Medik8 Blemish Control Pads are pre-soaked pads that you use morning and/or evening on a thoroughly cleansed skin, by wiping a pad all over the specific affected area, avoiding the eye area. The pads can be used on the face, but also on other areas such as neck and back etc. Once the skin has dried, you simply apply your usual serum and moisturiser on top, without rinsing.

The Medik8 Blemish Control Pad are designed for blemish prone skin, and the pads are alcohol-free, and hence very gentle on the skin, so unlike other blemish treatment they do not dry out the skin or irritate.

The Medik8 Blemish Control Pads contain among others:
  • 2% Salicylic Acid (BHA) to exfoliate the skin surface, unclogs and penetrates deep inside pores to dissolve dirt and oil, and balances sebum secretion, for a smoother and more even skin
  • Allantoin to help soothe and heal inflamed, irritated skin and support the stimulation of healthy new skin tissue Glycerin to help to moisturise and enhance skin barrier function, and reduce transepidermal water loss
  • Natural spearmint for a fresh smell

This means that the Blemish Control Pads helps to both clarify and improve the appearance of problematic skin and help prevent future breakouts.

The pads are super easy to use, and really doesn’t add much extra time to your regime. My skin is used to high strength products, but I still felt a touch of a tingling in my skin at the first few uses, but nothing that was irritating, and to me, just a sign that the products are working. And after just a few uses I have to say that I am impressed. I've had a few larger breakouts that have taken forever to clear, even with my trusted breakout treatments, but after using these pads twice a day, those breakouts quickly started to clear up.

I guess that some may experience an increase in breakouts after starting to use the pads, as the skin is purging, but personally I didn't experience that. Rather, my skin appeared less greasy and more refined, and as well as I found that existing breakouts cleared faster and I actually didn't get as many either after introducing the Blemish Control Pads into my skincare regimen.

I am not surprisingly very impressed with this new addition to the Medik8 range - and while I am hopeful that my skin will completely clear up and I will perhaps not need these on a daily basis, then I can see myself wanting them at hand for sudden breakout, or at that time of month where my skin always starts to play up.

If your skin is prone to breakouts, then you really must try these!!

MOTHERS DAY GIFT IDEAS - PART TWO

The other day I started my series of gift ideas for Mother's Day, if you missed the first part, you see it here. Anyway, here's the second part with even more suggestions within electrics, beauty and lifestyle products, so there something for every budget and taste…

She's sure to fall head of heels over this super cool and super girlie bright Oral-B PRO 500 Electric Toothbrush Pink Edition. The Oral-B PRO 500 electric toothbrush has been designed so it is on a slight angle for a better clean of each individual tooth. It has a 3D movement cleaning system that oscillates 7,600 times per minute and pulsates 20,000 times per minute, while it also rotates to break up and remove more plaque, and combined with the round CrossAction toothbrush head, which is inspired by professional cleaning tools, it delivers a clean that is so much better than using a regular manual toothbrush, as it helps lift and clean away more dental plaque as the round brush surrounds each tooth and deep cleanses between the teeth too. In fact, it promises to remove up to 100% more plaque than a regular manual toothbrush.

The toothbrush has a handy two-minute timer which buzzes every seconds so you know when it is time to move onto the next quadrant of your teeth, to ensure that all get a good clean. It also has a very long battery life, lasting up to 7 days on a full charge. It is super light in the hand, and so easy to use, and your teeth feel so clean after each use. It also comes with a charging station, and comes with a 2 year warranty.

Or perhaps you’d like to gift her something a little more intimate, such as these gorgeous bamboo Sensual Boy Leg knickers from Modibodi. They are incredibly soft thanks to the natural fibres, and they not only look very stylish and glamourous, they are so incredibly comfortable to wear that you actually almost forget you've got them on. But what's more, is that they are also very high-tech that they actually double as absorbent underwear too as they feature a 3mm inbuilt panty liner, that offers you better protection than any pair of regular undies and disposable sanitary products, so they help protect you from light bladder leakage, periods etc. this inbuilt panty liner uses moisture-wicking technology to draw sweat and discharge away from the skin, while being leak proof, antibacterial, breathable and stain resistant. And you simply wash them like any other underwear. So how good is that, stylish and comfortable underwear that makes you feel confident and give you peace of mind from leaks, periods, sweat and odour, while making you feel great about yourself too.

Want to give her something that's so practical that she'll absolutely love, then you cannot go past this Hair Towel Wrap from Freestyle. The Hair Towel Wrap, is made from super absorbent microfibre, that helps dry the hair so much faster, and with my very long and thick hair, I can really notice a difference. I also love that you can wrap your hair in the towel and safely secure it with the button - something I really love. I am so fed up trying to wrap my wet hair up in a normal towel while I do my makeup, as it always only stays put for a few moments, and I then end up giving up, and my hair is still dripping wet and subsequent drying takes so much longer. So this towel wrap is really a godsend. And you can simply pop it in the washing machine with the rest of your towels and use again and again. Seriously such a time-saver, and the lavender-pink shade is so gorgeous too. It is available in two sizes, a small for those with shorter hair styles, and large, if you like me have got a lot of hair!

Or what about a Freestyle Detangler Brush, which has flexible bristles that makes it so easy to comb out and detangle your hair whether it is wet or dry, as it glides through the hair smoothly and gently without pulling or dragging the hair, thanks to the epoxy tips, which also helps smooth down the hair and prevent frizz and flyaways. This hairbrush is super lightweight, and has an ergonomic handle too, so it is easy to hold, and it is also heat resistant so you can use it when heat styling it. And because it is so lightweight it is also perfect to pop into your handbag as it wont weigh it down either.

Another suggestion would be some body pampering products from Natural Instinct such as the Uplifting Body Wash with Lemon Grass and Ginko, and the Silky Hydrating Body Lotion with Triple Nourishing Complex. These products from Natural Instinct are not only made in Australia, but they are also made from natural plant ingredients and free from all the chemical nasties including petrochemicals, PEGs, mineral oils, sulphates, silicones, parabens, PABA, and artificial fragrances and colours, as well as they of course have not been tested on animals.

The Natural Instinct Uplifting Body Wash with Lemongrass and Ginseng is an invigorating shower gel. It has added ginko to help regenerate the skin and stimulate circulation breaking down lipids commonly associated with cellulite, while the Vitamin C helps smooth and even the skin tone with antioxidant properties leaving skin feeling soft, supple & youthful, and finally energising lemon grass which stimulates and helps tone the skin leaving it feeling smooth & revitalised. It is so gentle on the skin, leaving it clean without drying out the skin or making it itchy, and it has the most beautiful fresh and zesty scent thanks to the ginseng and the lemon grass, and it is hence the perfect soap to use in the morning when you need a bit of a kick start, and I love that this scent lingers in my bathroom after use, making it smell like a spa!

Pair that with the Natural Instinct Silky Hydrating Body Lotion which contains a triple nourishing complex boosted by among others sweet almond, rosehip and jojoba oils to add intense moisture and nourishment to the skin, leaving it so silky soft and supple. But the ingredients natural also have other purposes, and so the sweet almond oil also helps improve the skin's barrier function, the rosehip oil rich in fatty acids and vitamin c helps heal and has anti-ageing properties, while the jojoba oil has moisturising and protecting properties. In addition it also contains other nourishing ingredients including avocado oil and mango seed butter, as well as lavender oil and chamomile flower extract, which is likely contributing to its slightly floral scent. This body lotion leaves the skin silky soft and so smooth, and is perfect to combat dry winter skin too.

Or what about spoiling her to a few perfume such as the newly launched Calvin Klein Deep Euphoria Eau de Toilette. This perfume is a new version of the Euphoria scent which was launched some years ago. The Deep Euphoria contains among others cascalone, mandarin leaf and white pepper in the top notes, black rose, geranium and jasmine sambac in the middle notes, and in the base notes it has musk, pachouli and woody notes

Deep Euphoria is a fruity rose scent that dries down to a warm floral and very feminine scent. I am not a huge fan of rose scents on their own, finding them somewhat 'old-woman'ish", but that is far from the case with Deep Euphoria.

I find it such a gorgeous scent, as it is neither too spicy, or too sweet, but a beautiful sophisticated scent with just the rose scent lingering. It is 'just' an EDT, but still, I find that it lasts well on the skin, as if I put it on in the morning, I can still detect it at the end of the day, although if I do go out at night again, I do find that a refreshing top-up squirt is nice. It comes sin the most stunning deep dark pinky-purple bottle, which apart from the shade is like the original one, but although it was launched years ago, it is as modern and stunning now as it was then. For me Deep Euphoria is sure to be a autumn and winter favourite.

Regardless of what you decide to gift her, don't forget to include a handwritten personal note, such as in one of the gorgeous Hallmark's Signature Collection Cards, which she'll be sure to love and treasure.

PRODUCT REVIEW: SATURDAY SKIN BALANCING ACT LOTION, WIDE AWAKE, QUENCH MASK AND SPOTLIGHT MASK

Today I am going to talk a little about Saturday Skin. If you haven't heard of the brand before, let me quickly give you the rundown.

The brand says "we live for Saturdays, for sleeping in, staying up… and they believe your skin should feel as good as you do when you wake up refreshed; happy, healthy and bright…. Saturday Skin is a weekend in a bottle!!". And in spite of the pretty pastel pink bottle and turquoise satchels, but don't be fooled and think we're talking teen-age products here - as we're not - as these products are in actual fact developed with scientists at an internationally respected wellness centre, Chaum, in Seoul, Korea, using a signature patented ingredient called Cha-7 es Complex which is engineered through fermentation technology from 7 recombinant peptides that are powerful in combatting skin ageing, helping to regenerate the skin, increasing collagen and elasticity, while reducing melanin production. And what's more, the products are free from parabens, sulfates, artificial colours and fragrances.

The Saturday Skin Balancing Act Skin-Smoothing Lotion, which is another fabulous multi-tasker helping to fight the signs of ageing. The lotion contains among others magnolia vine extracts to help soothe and restore the skin's oil and water balance, adding moisture and hydration while smoothing and refining the skin's texture and improving elasticity. It also contains citrus oils to help brighten the skin as well as shea butter to create a supple finish and luminious glow.

The lotion is quite light and while the bottle comes with a pump, so you need to pump it into your hands, and before applying it to you face with tapping circular motions.

This daily moisturier is very lightweight and it absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves it so soft and smooth, ready for makeup, or to hit the bed. And it has the most divine floral scent too. After just a few uses, I can see that my skin is enjoying this lotion, as it makes it feel soft and smooth, and clearly glowing and radiant. Everything about this lotion is gorgeous, from the packaging, the beautiful scent, to the quick apparent results, so this is already a favourite too, and I'm keen to explore more of the product range.

Then there's the Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream, which is a kin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream, which is a eye cream that promises to firm, lift and smooth the apperance of fine lines and wrinkles, brighten the eye area, minimising dark circles, reducing puffiness while recovering a youthful, healthy apperance. It contains among others date seed extract to illuminate and refresh the delicate skin around the eyes

The cream has such a beautiful and fresh scent that I just cannot get enough off, and as it doesn't contain any artificial fragrances, it naturally comes from some of the added ingredients which also include apple seed oil and water, orange, lemon and grapefruit oil, and lavender and rosemary oil.

This eye cream is so incredibly light, that I'd actually classify it more as serum than a cream. It absorbs into the skin immediately, and in spite of its lightness, it is clearly very moisturising, and immediately leaves my skin clearly deeply moisturised, and looking and feeling refreshed. And because it absorbs so quickly, and without any greasiness or tackiness, it is also the perfect base for makeup during the day. After having used the cream for several weeks, I have to say that I am impressed with the results, as I have definitely noticed that my eye area seems brighter and smoother, less puffy and dark circles less noticeable. I haven't yet noticed any major difference in the amount of wrinkles and lines, but I also didn’t expect that to happen in such a short period of time.

The cream comes in a gorgeous pink pump bottle, and it holds a massive 30ml, which is a lot for an eye cream, so it will last you forever. You naturally also need to take this larger size into account when you look at the price, as it does make it great value too.

The range also contain two different sheet masks, Quench and Spotlight, both are bio-cellulose sheet masks, which adheres to your skin like second skin, to help the fermentation process where amino acids, vitamins and anti oxidants are formed. These masks, like most other sheet masks, need to be left on the skin for about 20 minutes, before any remaining essence is tapped into the skin. And unlike other masks, these do not need to be rinsed off.

The Saturday Skin Quench Intense Hydration Mask is a deeply hydrating mask that contains Hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture, as well as watermelon and aloe to naturally hydrate and refresh, while improving uneven skin tone and texture and give the skin a radiant glow.

I have combination skin so it is not usually moisture that my skin lacks, but even so it, it left my skin feeling soft and smooth, and glowingly radiant, and it is hence the perfect mask to use for instance prior to going out for an instant pick me up.

Alternatively, there's the Saturday Skin Spotlight Intense Hydration Mask, which is a hydrating and soothing mask that also helps revitalise dull and tired skin, while diminishing dark spots and brightening the skin's over all apperance thanks to containing among others bilberry, licorice and lotus extracts diminish dark spots to uncover natural radiance. This mask is my favourite of the two, and a perfect match for my pigmented and tired dull skin. While I didn't notice any difference in the apperance of my pigmentation, after using just one mask, my skin is still looking clearer and brighter, and is looking refreshed and glowing.

So there you go, a selection of products from Saturday Skin. My fave of these would have to be the eye serum, but that said I have enjoyed all of them, and I certainly wouldn't mind trying a few more from the range, in particularly I've got my eyes on the

Saturday Skin Balancing Act Skin-Smoothing Lotion - RRP: $59.95 / 120ml
Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Eye Cream - RRP: $69.95 / 30ml
Saturday Skin Quench Intense Hydration Mask - RRP: $44.95 / 5 masks

PRODUCT REVIEW: ROOMMATES WALL DECALS FROM CHILDSMART - SPIDER-MAN AND MARVEL AVENGERS

..Spider-man, Spider-man…Does whatever a spider can…Spins a web, any size…Catches thieves, just like flies…Look out! Here comes the Spider-man….!!!

I am not sure if it is a boy thing, but my two little boys are so into super heroes, including Spider-man and the Marvels. I can understand the older one, who will be turning 4 years old in two months time, but the little one yet to turn 2, would surely be more into the likes of Winnnie the Pooh - but no, he wants to do what big brother does - so when we decorated big brothers room and walls with Spider-man and Marvels Avengers, needless to say that his had to be done too. And thanks to Roommates Wall stickers from Childsmart, you can do pretty anything you like and create any theme your little one likes.

I will never forget that in our old house, we decorated the nursery with some cute wall decals - and when we sold the house, we wanted to remove the decals and take them with us - but quickly gave up when we discovered that removing them would mean damaging the wall!

The Roommates Wall Stickers are very different - they are of a premium quality and unique in that they have been designed using a special adhesive that grip the wall tightly, but without leaving behind residue or damage once removed. This innovative feature allows Roommates wall stickers to be removed easily and repositioned on any smooth surface, including walls, cabinets and doors, without reducing the quality of the design, or damaging the walls in the process. Now how brilliant is that.

That means that you can decorate with one character now, and once the kid grows, you can quickly and easily remove and replace with something else the kid may be into at the time.

We placed the Ultimate Spider-Man Peel & Stick Wall Decal above our big boys bed (see first picture). And now he is huge, measuring over 1.3 meters tall and almost 86 centimetres wide, so he makes such a huge impact when you walk into the room.

The huge decal includes a 7-pieces which makes it easier to put together, than managing one large one. And it also comes with 2 smaller Spider-Man graphics, a Spider-Man head-shot, three spiders, and decals with "Ultimate Spider-Man" in 2 different fonts.

Above little brother's cot, we placed the Spider-Man Webhead, which is equally impressive, measuring 66 centimetres tall and almost 80 centimetres wide. This wall decal is made up of large head in the centre, while the web surrounding it, is made from several parts to make applying it so much easier. The pack also comes with several extra parts including smaller Spider-Men, Spiders, and wording such as "Web Head", "Crime Fighter" and "Spider Man".

We generally mixed and matched the two sets, as we found it best, and also leaving the small spiders off the walls for now, until we know for sure that big black spiders wont be scaring them off.

Finally, around their wardrobe doors, we also applied a pack with some Marvel Avengers. The pack comes with 28 smaller decals, which is a lot, so we did apply the majority onto big brother's, but still made sure to give little brother a few too, so he didn't feel left out. This particular pack includes individual decals of among others Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, several 'group decals' as well as their names in writing and symbols too. This is a fantastic pack too, as it will transform a room within minutes

Overall we are so impressed with these wall decals from Roommates, as they are really of premium quality, and we really like that we can easily remove them, and even replace them again and again if we like. Not that that is likely to be required for quite some time, as both boys love their 'new' rooms so much, and won't stop talking about how cool the characters are.

We can only highly recommend these, regardless of the theme you are after. And there are so many different characters available including Winnie The Pooh, Buzz, Lightyear, Tinkerbell, Cars, pirates, princesses, flowers, you name it! And the best part is that you can apply them as you like as they are individual stickers, and you can add different sets that can be mixed and matched together too, to fit the room and create a customised space. And when you, or your kid don't like anymore, simply remove them again.

Knowing that there are heaps of the other smaller coordinating packs available with both Spider-Man and the Avengers, I have no doubt that we’ll need to add more to our two boys' rooms in the very near future.

Roommates Ultimate Spider-Man Peel & Stick Wall Decal - RRP: $44.95
Roommates Ultimate Spider-Man Web Head Giant Sticker - RRP: $44.95
Roommates Avengers Assemble Peel & Stick Wall Decal - RRP: $24.95

PRODUCT REVIEW: BURTS BEES CLEANSING OIL, FACIAL WATER, HAND REPAIR CREAM, CUTICLE CREAM AND DARK SPOT CORRECTOR

If you regularly tune visit BLH, you'll know that one of those brands that I really love is Burt's Bees. Simply because their products are not only super efficient, and very budget friendly too, but they are also close to being 100% natural and of course free from all the chemical nasties, including parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS, and the only the only fragrance comes from the natural ingredients. I have put a handful of the Burt's Bees products to the test..

The Burt's Bee's Cleansing Oil is enriched with coconut that acts as a natural moisturiser to help keep the skin soft and smooth, as well as argan oil which is rich in antioxidants to nourish the skin. The cleanser gently removes my long-wearing makeup, and without irritating my skin. I admit to not using it on my eyes, where I prefer to use a specific eye makeup remover, but I do like that it can be used on the eyes too. And as for the rest of the makeup on my face, it gently removes absolutely everything - and without leaving my skin feeling sticky or tacky, something that I with my combination skin prone to breakouts always worry about when using cleansing oils. That said, I usually double cleanse my skin, as it helps keep breakout prone skin more blemish free, and have been using the Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil as the first cleanse to remove my makeup. The cleanser is also very gentle, so suitable for all skin types, including those that are dry. I really like this Cleansing Oil and can see myself repurchasing it again and again.

The Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Nourishing Facial Water with Clary Sage is a nutrient-infused drink for your skin to help it restore lost hydration and prepare the skin for moisturisation. It contains among others clary Sage, kiwi fruit water and willow bark extract, and .is used by soaking a cotton pad and smoothing it over the face morning and night after cleansing, and before moisturising. The Facial Water absorbs quickly into the skin and without leaving behind a greasy residue, and it not only helps improve the skin's texture and balance the skin skin’s pH level, it helps it look softer and smoother and fresher too. My skin is combination, so generally not lacking moisture, but coming into the colder months where my skin tends to become drier, it will be a welcome addition to my skincare regimen.

Now that the weather is getting colder, my hands are already starting to feel drier and it has been time to reach for more intensive skincare products, including the Burt's Bees Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream. This intense cream contains among others shea butter, bees wax, cocoa butter and sesame and sunflower oil to help keep hands soft and moisturised. And thanks to the added essential botanical oils such as macadamia nut, rosehip, lavender, neroli and borage, it has a light lovely natural scent, which does linger for a while.

The cream is rich and creamy, yet it immediately absorbs into my skin without leaving the hands feeling greasy, so I can get on with things without leaving greasy fingerprints everywhere. And already after the first use, I can tell that it still so intense that it keeps any dryness at bay, but rather leaves my hands softer and smoother. A must try product!

Then there's the Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream is a longtime favourite of mine and I've actually lost count of how many of these cute little tins I've used up. The cuticle cream has the most amazing zesty lemon scent – my favourite scent, but it is also so effective at keeping your cuticles soft and hence your nails looking nicer. Yes, it is a little greasy, but I love massaging it into my nails at night when I sit on the couch watching TV as it makes such a huge difference for healthier nails. The small tin looks tiny, but it is so concentrated, that it will last you forever, and the small size is perfect for popping into your handbag too when you're on the go.

Finally, there's the Burt's Bees Brightening Dark Spot Corrector. This skin corrector promises to visibly diminish the apperance of dark spots, evening out the skin tone, and create a righter and more luminous complexion. This treatment contains among others aloe leaf juice, mallow leaf, peppermint and lemon and orange extract, as well as daisy extract, and it has a slightly odd scent coming from these natural ingredients. The treatment comes in a pump bottle and it is rather thin, so you do have to be cautious not to spill it. It is to be used morning and night, after cleansing, and prior to serum and moisturiser. The treatment is quite light too, and absorbs into the skin quickly without any greasiness, after using it for a few weeks my skin is definitely looking more even. Darker patches of pigmentation are still noticeable, but the smaller ones, including redness and marks from recent breakouts have faded. This is a great treatment, and I really like that it is so gentle that it is suitable for all skin types, and also my combination skin prone to breakouts. I also love that it is made from 99% natural ingredients and compared to other pigmentation treatments, very budget friendly too.

So there you go, a selection of products from Burt's Bees which I've been enjoying lately. Favourites will continue to be the Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream and the Shea Butter Hand Repair along with the Cleansing Oil.

Have you tried any of these, or recommend other products from the brand.

PRODUCT REVIEW: WHITE GLO DEEP STAIN REMOVER ACTIVATED CHARCOAL WHITENING TOOTHPASTE

I love coffee, and I admit that I drink way too much of it. And I guess it is sadly starting to show on the pearly whites, that perhaps are not so white anymore. So when the newest addition to the White Glo range, the new Deep Stain Remover Activated Charcoal Whitening Toothpaste landed on my doorstep, I could wait to start trialling it.

This toothpaste is an advanced extra strength whitening toothpaste that has been made with highly absorbent activated charcoal, which deoxifies to helps whiten enamel by penetrating and drawing out stubborn stains, discolouration, as well as fighting germs, and bad breath odour.

Having slightly sensitive teeth, this did concern me a little, however the toothpaste has a very low abrasive formula that so it is safe for the enamel and gentle too as it has been developed for daily use.

The actual toothpaste is a clear grey shade, and despite what you might thing, it still has a pleasant fresh minty taste, and it froths up white like any other toothpaste.

The toothpaste also comes with a special black and orange White Glo X-Action toothbrush, which has bristles infused with charcoal and the criss-cross action bristles on the brush has been designed to work more effectively with the micro particles in the toothpaste for a better result. The pack also comes with a small bonus pack of little brushes designed to be used between the gap of the teeth.

I admit to generally preferring an electric toothbrush, but was still excited about using the 'manual' brush along with the toothpaste. I didn't really know what to expect from this budget-friendly toothpaste, but having slightly yellow teeth to start with, I was hoping for an improvement. Yes, my teeth did feel very clean and smooth after each use, but usually using a high quality powerful electrical toothbrush I am used to that feeling. However, after just a uses I started noticing my teeth seemed less yellow and so much brighter, and so far I am also pleased to say that the toothpaste hasn’t made my teeth any more sensitive. So overall I am actually enjoying this toothpaste. I admit to missing my electric toothbrush, so I will likely go back using it along with the toothpaste, and regardless hopeful that continued use with continue to keep my teeth stain-free and whiter.

If you're concerned with your teeth staining and yellowing, then I highly recommend you try this new toothpaste from White Glo - At the low bargain price really have nothing to lose.

PRODUCT REVIEW: BIO OIL FOR SCARS, STRETCHMARKS AND CELLULITE

I think we all have marks, including scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone that we are not too fond off - and that's where Bio-Oil comes in, as it is a specialist skincare oil that helps improve the appearance of all of those imperfections, while also being great for dehydrated skin and as an anti-ageing product.

Bio-Oil was launched some 15 years ago, and has since then won countless skincare awards for its scar and stretchmark effectiveness. It is made from a range of plant extracts and vitamins including calendula oil, lavender, lavender, rosemary and chamomile oils, along with vitamins E and A, in an oil base also containing an ingredient called PurCellin Oil™, which makes the oil light and non-greasy, and helps the ingredients being absorbed into the skin.

And it promises to among others;
  • Improve the appearance of new and old scars
  • Keep the skin supple and moist and reduce the possibility of stretch marks during pregnancy, teenage growth spurts and rapid weight gain
  • Improve the appearance of existing stretch marks
  • Improve the appearance of uneven skin tone
  • Smooth and tone ageing and wrinkled skin on face and body
  • Help supplement the skin's natural oils stripped away

The oil can be used as an intensive moisturiser, soothing after-sun treatment or even as a bath oil.
Personally, after two kids, I am very blessed to not have any stretch marks worth mentioning, but that said, I did also massage Bio-Oil into my belly at least once, if not twice daily, which I am convinced has made a difference. And not having any stretch marks, or any cellulite for that matter either, does mean that I cannot speak of the Bio-Oil's effectiveness there.

However, I can speak of the Bio-Oil as a scar treatment - a few years ago, I also used Bio-Oil as a 'spot' treatment on a surgery scar, and I am convinced that it has helped minimise its appearance to the point that if you didn't know if was there, you'd hardly see it. My husband has also been successfully been using it on a few scars where he has had moles etc cut out, and he also persistently applying it as he too believes that it makes such a difference. Unfortunately I am so unfortunate that mozzies seem to like me, and often I will end up with red marks once the bite has gone down, and I've made it a habit of applying the Bio-Oil afterwards, which again I am convinced helps speed up the healing and reduce future marks. So we always have a bottle handy in the bathroom cabinet, as you just never know when you need it.
The Bio-Oil comes in several different sizes, but unless you use it as a bath-oil, even the smallest bottle will last you forever as it is so concentrate that you only need to use a tiny bit, so it is also exceptional value.

It has a pleasant subtle scent, but does contain some added fragrance - Personally I don't mind this added fragrance, but it has meant that I've sadly been advised against using it on my 1.5 year old's surgery scar, so it would be fantastic if there was also a non-fragranced version available for those with sensitive skin types as well as kids.

Bio-Oil - RRP: $14.99 /60ml, $24.99 / 125ml, $34.99 / 200ml
Available from Priceline and select pharmacies

PRODUCT REVIEW: BELLABOX APRIL 2017

Another month has very quickly passed, and I've teamed up with Bellabox again for the second month in a row. I was very impressed with the contents of last months' box, my very first Bellabox ever, so was excited for this one to arrive. Here's what was in the Bellabox April 2017 box..

BB Summer Trio - Full Size (RRP: $9.95)
This is a small round compact containing three cream highlighters in three different shades. It has been created exclusively for Bellabox and supposedly there are different options, but I got one that contains a white shimmer, pale pink shimmer and a apricot shimmer shade. I have (naturally) never tried any of the Bellabox products before, so I don't really know what to think of the quality of this yet, but it does look lovely, and especially the apricot shade looks like something I’d usually wear.

Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo - 50ml (RRP: $4.95 / 50ml)
I can't live without dry shampoo, and Batiste is without a doubt one of my favourite brands, as they are so affordable and smell amazing. This particular version has a gorgeous tropical coconutty scent that will make you day dream of an island holiday, and it will instantly freshen up your hair, while giving it body and smell amazing at the same time.

Avene Tolerance Extreme Cream - 5ml (RRP: $58.95 / 50ml)
This cream is offering intense moisture for dry, allergic and very sensitive skin. I don't really have either, but that said, my combination skin always tend to get a little drier as we head towards the winter months, and as I really do love the products from Avene, I still look forward to testing this one out.

Avene Tolerance Extreme Cleansing Lotion - 5ml (RRP: $58.95 / 50ml)
This is a no-rinse facial cleanser that is gentle while protecting and soothing the skin. I do generally prefer a foaming cleanser as I love splashing water in my face, but again, do look forward to trying this one out.

Nutraplus Barrier Hand Cream - 10ml (RRP: $7.50 / 50ml)
Winter has hardly hit, and my hands are already feeling it, and are so dry, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. It promises to help protect the hands by giving them an invisible protective barrier, to prevent dryness while keeping the hands moisturised and soft.

BONUS - Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Hair Nourish Shampoo and Conditioner - Sachet samples, 10ml each
I have never tried any of the Nutrimetics hair products before, so I am looking forward to putting these to the test. Also because these are formulated to help protect and repair dry and damaged hair, while locking in moisture, so they are perfect for my long chemically treated hair.

So there you go, the contents of the April '17 Bellabox. And again I am quite impressed with both the variety and amount of samples in this box and not to mention quality. What I really like is that I will actually use every single item in the box, which makes it good value on its own, and at the same time, I get to try out Bellabox own brand, and more products from one of my fave French brands, Avene. I am also always on the lookout for treatment products for my long hair, and a hand cream never goes astray, and this one is the perfect size to pop into the handbag too!).
Another thing, and again Bellabox is still new to me, but compared to other subscription boxes where the contents is much the same for all subscribers in any given month (except for perhaps difference in colours of makeup products), Bellabox, from what I've noticed by reading other reviews over the past two months, contents seem to vary a lot more. And personally I actually like that. Yes, I've seen products in other peoples boxes I would have liked, but have received products myself I wouldn't swap in return. But what's more, as a subscriber, for me, one of the fun things about this type of boxes is the surprise element of what you'll find in your box - and with many people posting sneak peaks of their boxes, with other boxes that surprise will often be ruined before you get your box. But not with Bellabox!

$17.95 ($15.00+ $2.95 P&H) on a subscription plan, billed monthly, but you can cancel anytime.
Available from Bellabox

PRODUCT REVIEW: BRIO POLICE STATION 33813 FROM CHILDSMART

It's time for another toy review, so I've yet again called upon my boys, who are almost 2 years old and 4 years old, to assist and test… Today it is all about the newly launched Police Station from Brio. As you may recall, we've previously put several other Brio items to the test from Childsmart (Click on the labels tab for easy access all the reviews!). Anyway, onto the new Brio Police Station.

Nothing has changed since our last Brio feature a few months ago - my boys still love playing Brio, as it always spark their imaginative play. And when there's heroes included, such as firemen or police men, it's even better, so the new Police Station was an instant hit.

Needless to say that the Brio Police Station fits perfectly into any Brio collection. It comes with special tracks so you can add it on to your existing track, and it also comes with a little ramp so the included police car van drive straight into the police station garage.

From there the police men - it comes with one police man and one thief, - can take the elevator directly to the prison cell, which is on the second floor. Then you can lock the grill gate as the elevator door also functions as the prison door, and then leave the prisoner on his bunk bed to think about his bad ways.

The bottom level of the Police Station functions as both garage for the police van, but also as office and desk for the busy police men.

The included police car fits one police man, and it is easy to put him into the van, even for little hands, as the roof lifts up - so even my not even 2 year old can do this! Both boys also love that you can turn on the siren and lights on the police car, that are activated when pushing a button on the top of the truck, - and then speed off to rescue citizens in need and stop the bad guys from pinching things that are not theirs.

Like all other Brio toys, this two storey Police Station has the same stylish and modern design, and it is made from a combination of timber and plastic, and it is sturdy and clearly a quality product, that can survive a few drops on the floor.

This Police Station is intended for kids aged 3+, and our little boy, aged almost 4 years, is having so much fun role-playing with it, and adding it to his existing Brio playsets, and his imagination quickly off, as he chases the bad guy and tries to catch him. He also love the elevator element, which adds just another element of fun.

And in spite of being below the intended age-group, my youngest, yet to turn two, is also having so much fun playing with it. I appreciate that the age bracket has also been put in place due to the smaller parts in the playset, but personally I find that the smallest parts, the little people, are big enough for him to play with without a concern, although he is naturally being monitored.

As with all other Brio toys, this quality is fantastic and it really is amazing for role play and imagination, and keeps my boys entertained time and time again. So if your little one is into heroes and police too, then this is highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: WELEDA TINTED LIP BALMS

It's no secret that I lately have been exploring some more natural beauty products, so when these new Tinted Lip Balms from Weleda landed on my door step, I couldn't wait to put them to the test.

These new lip balms are 100% certified natural, and combines colour & care in one. They are made using Shea butter, jojoba oil and olive oil to care for and protect the lips, while sunflower seed wax helps form a protective layer to protect the lips. They also contain rose and vanilla to help give them the most divine gentle scent.
The balms are light and soft on the lips, making them very comfortable to wear throughout the day, as they are non sticky. And I love that they give the lips a touch of tint and a subtle shimmer a the same time.

They are available in three shades, Nude, Rose, and Berry Red - and I put the first two to the test.

Nude has a very pale pearlescent pinky-nude that gives the lips a lovely look, and actually also would be perfect on top of any lipstick for extra sheen and dimension, as well as I can actually imagine that it could double as a highlighter on the top of your cheeks!!
Rose is a pale pink shade, that is a gorgeous shade for everyday casual wear.

I really enjoy using these, and love the fact that they are natural and give my lips a touch of tint while caring for them. I know I'll be reaching for these in the coming winter months as my lips tend to become drier, and I pretty keen to get my hands on the final shade, the Berry Red, the darkest of the shades available.

If you're looking for a very moisturising balm, that's natural, I definitely recommend that you check out these new Tinted Lip Balm from Weleda.

Weleda Tinted Lip Balm - RRP: $15.95 / 10ml
Available from David Jones and selected pharmacies and health food stores, and Weleda Online

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA - BELLA BOX LIMITED EDITION MOTHER'S DAY BOX 2017

Does your mum love beauty products and needs to be spoilt a little extra this Mother's Day? Then why not treat her to the ultimate pampering gift this year. Bella Box have the most amazing limited edition Mother's Day Box, which is chock full of pampering goodies including skincare and makeup, that every woman will love. This special Mother's Day box, is a again a limited edition once off box, (and not part of the regular subscription service), and it contains a massive 12 products, valued at over $160, but you can get it for the bargain price of $49.95 (with free shipping).

Unlike the 'regular' monthly boxes, this Mother's Day box comes in a navy blue box, and the products in the box include:

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral & Flirty Blush - 50ml
I absolutely love the Batiste Dry Shampoos, and actually couldn’t be without them as they are such a lifesaver, when you want to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock once more in the mornings. This particular one has a gorgeous fresh floral scent, and the small size also makes it perfect to pop into the handbag.

Nuxe Nirvanesque Smoothing Eye Contour Cream - 15ml (full size) Another brand I absolutely love, so this eye cream doesn’t go astray, - and being full sized it is valued at approx $45.95, already making this box exceptionally good value. The eye cream contains among others hyaluronic acid and optical correcting pigments to help smoothe away wrinkles and expression lines, while also reducing dark circles. Sounds incredible, and cant wait to put this one to the test.

Sukin Renewing Body Scrub with Green Tea an Jojoba - 50ml Yet another brand that I like, as it is high quality and efficient, while being so budget friendly. This body scrub contains micro jojoba beads and green tea leaves and ground walnut shells to help polish the skin and buff away dead skin cells, while leaving the skin soft and smooth thanks to containing among others coconut oil, jojoba oil and aloe vera, and rosehip oils. I also love the fact that it is free from all the chemical nasties, including no parabens and sulphates.

Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Hand Wash - 30ml One of my favourite scents, is citrus, so this orange scented hand wash is right up my alley, as it smells so gorgeous. Molton Brown is known for their luxurious bath products, and this hand wash doesn’t fail to impress me either, and I'm almost looking for an excuse to wash my hands.

Thankyou Hand Cream with Botanical Geranium & Rosewood - 70ml I have the biggest respect for the brand Thankyou, who donates to help water and sanitary programs around the world. Their products are extremely well priced, yet are so good, and look incredible too. I already have several of them around the house, so very happy with the inclusion of this hand cream. It smells absolutely amazing, and leaves the hands feeling soft and smooth.

Momma Pure Rosehip & Jojoba Butter Rejuvenating Raw Sugar Face Scrub This face scrub is made using 100% natural pure essential oils, which immediately appeals to me. I am also excited about getting the opportunity to try a new brand that I've never heard of before.

Beach Road Naturals Body Bar with Coconut Oil & Kaffir Lime - 100g I admit that I am not the biggest user or fan of soap bars, for the pure reason that I do find they become a little messy after a while. That said, this one does sound pretty good, made from triple milled soap, and infused with coconut husk, and kaffir lime leaf to help gently exfoliate dead skin, to leave it soft and smooth.

Sarah Jean False Lashes - one set Then there's these false synthetic lashes from Sarah Jean, which looks absolutely stunning, and will be perfect for a special night out.

Sarah Jean Waterproof Clear Eyelash Adhesive - 4ml And what's false lashes without adhesive, so Bella Box has been so insightful as to also make sure to include a pack with clear adhesive.

PONi Cosmetics Pegasus Liquid Liner in black - Full Size
This is another product I am extremely excited about. I have a couple of PONi products which I so love, and using black liquid liner daily, I cannot wait to try this one. Another full sized product valued at around $29!

One Seed Organic Perfumery Freedom Organic Perfum - Sample vial I have heard of One Seed fragrances, but never had an opportunity to try, so this is another one that really excites me. The brand makes organic perfume, and this one smells so lovely, and the small vial spray is also the perfect little size to pop into the handbag.

Embasan Candles Fragrance Diffuser in Green Tea, Guava, and Tangerine - 10ml This little hanging fragrance diffuser is so adorable. It is made with stunning rose gold with a timber lid and a black cord, and it is perfect to hang in smaller spaces such as the wardrobe or in the bathroom. The Green Tea, Guava and Tangerine scent smells divine, and will keep your room smelling lovely for up to 4 months, will looking amazing too.

Finally, there is also a cute Sweet Mickie Quote Cookie included in the box, and who can resist that!!

So there you have it, a selection of amazing goodies in this limited edition Bella Box Mother's Day box. It is truly good value as just the Nuxe eye cream on its own, and the box is basically paid for, and the remainder of the items are bonuses, and there is literally everything in the box for skin, body and home. So treat your mum, and perhaps yourself too to this box, you both deserve it, and will love discovering and pampering yourselves with these beautiful products.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD WITH GLYCOLIC ACID FROM ACTIVESKIN

One of those products that has claimed cult status amongst bloggers and beauty writers is the Alpha-H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid, so when a bottle of it landed on my desk courtesy of Activeskin, I couldn't wait to try it out.

The Alpha-H Liquid Gold is a resurfacing treatment that contains glycolic acid to help diminish wrinkles, pigmentation and sun damage, while brightening and revitalising tired, ageing skin, and it is suitable for anyone with mature, sun damaged, prematurely ageing and acne-scarred skin. The product helps regenerate the skin and force the stimulation of wound healing, for a skin that is visibly clearer, brighter and more even toned.

The Liquid Gold comes in a bottle, and is to be used alternative evenings on cleansed skin, for an intensive treatment you can use it on its own, or alternatively with a serum or moisturiser on top. And you use it by moistening a cotton pad and wiping it over the face, neck and decolletage. Struggling with both pigmentation, ageing and breakouts, I found that my skin needed that little bit extra, so I have been using it on its own. Also, personally I find that I 'waste' a lot of the product by letting it absorb into the cotton pad, so I prefer putting a few drops onto the palm of my hand, and dabbing it into the skin from there.

When you firs apply it, the skin does tingle for a few moments, but that is just a sign that it is working.

I have combination skin prone to breakouts and I have really been enjoying using the Liquid Gold. The 5% glycolic acid contents means that it doesn’t clog up the pores, on the contrary, it helps gently exfoliate and slug away dead skin cells and excess sebum and impurities. And each morning after use, my skin is looking so much clearer and brighter, and any existing breakouts also minimised. And after having used if for a while, I am really impressed with the overall result too, as my skin is looking less dull, but rather fresher, brighter and more even, with in particular minor pigmentation and residual marks from past acne clearly minimised. I also find that my large pores appear smaller in size, and I tend to get less breakouts too, and those that I have been getting are generally smaller in size and seem to clear up a lot faster too.
The solution is very concentrated, so if used every second night it will last you a long time. I now know what all the hype is about as it is clearly making my skin look better, so I will continue to use this as a part of my skincare routine, and can see myself repurchasing again and again.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid - RRP: $46.13 / 100ml
Available from Activeskin
