PRODUCT REVIEW: WOTNOT BABY LOTION, WIPES AND BIODEGRADABLE BAGS

My two little boys are very fair, and both suffer with very sensitive skin, so I find that using the gentle products on them is essential. And one of those brands I've always loved, is wotnot.

If you're not familiar with wotnot, you really should check them out. The Australian brand is making eco-friendly natural skin and baby care products, containing nothing but natural and certified organic ingredients, and without all the chemical nasties such as sulphates, alcohol, chlorine, petrochemicals, PEGs, parabens, artificial fragrances - with the slogan "100% wot's good, 0% wot's not". Gotta love that!

We've been using the Wotnot Biodegradable Wipes for the longest time, as I simply love that they are so super gentle that they are suitable even on newborns. My youngest one had so sensitive skin when he was first born, that within days, he got a bad rash on his bum, but within days of switching to these from wotnot, it cleared yo, and we’ve been using then since. The wipes contain certified organic aloe vera to help soothe the delicate skin, as well as vitamin E to help heal and protect - and they simply gently cleanses the baby skin without any irritation, and without drying it out. The wipes are slightly larger then most, and I also love that they are perfect for sticky little fingers and faces when you're out and about, feeling safe knowing that the wipes do not contain any harmful ingredients, should you boys lick their fingers afterwards. And the fact that hey are biodegradable and compostable makes then even better, so you can care about the environment at the same time.

Then there's the wotnot Baby Lotion, which is a lotion that again is so gentle that it can be used on newborns. The lotion contains among others certified organic flaxseed for its natural source of omega-3 and omega-6, along with certified organic aloe vera leaf juice and chamomile oil to help nourish, moisturise and soothe the skin, while also having antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and healing properties.. The lotion is light in consistency, and I love that it absorbs into my boys's skin immediately and without any greasiness, leaving them feeling so soft and smooth. I also love the gentle floral scent which no doubt comes from the chamomile along with the added sweet orange oil.

Finally, there's the wotnot Biodegradable Nappy Bags, and trust me, with a teething toddler, we use these by the bucket loads for dirty nappies at the moment. I love that these bags are environmentally friendly, made from 100 per cent biodegradable and compostable ingredients, including natural GM-free cornstarch, so again, you can make sure to care for the environment at the same time. Having two big dogs too, these are also perfect to bring, should your dogs decide they need to go while you're out.

These products really are fantastic, whether you have  baby, suffer with sensitive skin and looking for something super gentle, or even a doggie, these products are well worth checking out. I know they're a stable in our household, so very highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: 90DEGREES TEA

I admit it, I love a good coffee, and I actually find it hard to wake up in the mornings and function properly without a strong dose of it - but when it is cold, I reach for teas, and one of the amazing brands that have recently come to my attention, is 90degrees Tea.

90degrees Tea is an Australian brand, with all teas and herbals blended by hand locally, using organic ingredients where possible, and of course no added 'flavours' or preservatives.

The unique things about 90degrees Tea is also the way the teas have been blended, with minimal exposure to air throughout the whole process, to ensure the freshest tea of the highest quality.

All the teas come packaged in gorgeous matte black bags (and if you follow me, you'll know that I particularly love monochrome, including black and simplistic design), which are simply elegant and super stylish.

Even their special square metal canisters are matte black, and also have a stunning golden logo.

90degrees Tea has a large selection of blends, including classics such as Earl Grey and English Breakfast Tea, though personally I prefer herbal, fruity or floral teas - but they are a part of the range too.

I put a couple of different teas to the test, including 'Hers', which contains among others, Organic raspberry leaf, Organic hibiscus, Organic calendula flowers, Organic rose petals, Safflowers and Wild yam root.

It is such a pretty tea, looking almost like pot pourri, (which you could almost use it as too, as even un-brewed, it still smells incredible) - and once brewed, it gives you a gorgeous red'ish floral tea, that is just gorgeous, and somewhat refreshing at the same time.

I didn't mention above, that I also love how 90degrees Tea also include, not only the ingredients, but also the brewing instructions on the back of the packets, including how much tea to use, how long to brew, and the ideal temperature.

I also love that 90degrees Teas are aware that picking a tea can be tricky, and consequently they also sell samples, and very cheap too at just $1.50 per single serving sample - and that's with free shipping - so you can test out a few before getting a bigger bag.

I also tried a couple of samples, including a Chai, Smooth and Oasis. I always love a good chai, though do prefer them at café's, but think that's probably just because somehow a cuppa always tastes nice when someone has prepared for you, right!. But this one is gorgeous, and the perfect option for when you're at home, with all its herbs and spices. The Smooth is a very simple tea, containing just two ingredients, Organic Cinnamon Chips and Organic Peppermint Tea - and as Peppermint is one of my fave blends for mornings, this is a lovely spicy change. The Oasis contains Organic Himalayan Green Tea, Organic Rose Petals< organic Calendula Flowers and Corn Flowers, and is a beautiful green floral tea.

All in all these teas are really lovely, and truly of such high quality and with such lovely taste. I can't actually say which of these blends is my favourite - all I can say is that if you're a tea drinker, do go check these out, you'll absolutely love them!!

90 Degrees Tea Hers - RRP: $10.95 / 50g, $15.95 / 100g
90 Degrees Tea Samples, Single Serves - RRP: $1.50
90 Degrees Tea Storage Tin - RRP: $9.95

PRODUCT REVIEW: MEDIK8 HYDR8 B5 HAND CREAM SPF 15

You've no doubt heard me rave about Medik8 before, so needless to say that I was excited when the newest product launch, the Medik8 Hydr8™ B5 Hand Cream SPF 15 landed on my desk.

The hand cream is a nourishing formula that helps protect against environmental aggressors that lead to premature ageing, and it is taking a cue from anti-ageing face creams.

Thanks to being infused with moringa seed extract, it has an anti-pollution Technology that forms an invisible film on the surface of the skin to neutralises pollutants and prevent them from being absorbed into the epidermis, while also shielding the skin against other irritants such as carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide from industrial fumes and car

Emissions, along with particles from i.e. cigarette smoke, and thereby deminishing pollution-caused ageing effects such as redness, irritation and dull, devitalised skin.

The cream also contains SPF15 with broad spectrum UV filters to protect against both UVA and UVB rays and thus sun damage too.

The hand cream also has a unique Rehydration Technology, containing hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5, which combined help draw moisture into the skin and add intense nourishment for tired and overworked hands while improving the moisture retention and stimulating regeneration and healing to keep the skin plump and the hands soft and smooth, while also benefitting dry cuticles and nails which are conditioned and strengthened too.

This hand cream is a thick and rich hand cream, yet it absorbs into the hands fairly quickly, without any greasiness, so you can get on with things. And it leaves them feeling velvety soft and smooth. And you really only need to use a little bit, about a pea-size is sufficient for both hands.

This cream really is a winner for me, and already after the first application, I was in love. It really does leave my hands incredibly soft, gone is that winter dryness, and even my neglected nails and cuticles improved dramatically immediately.
I also love that this hand cream comes with SPF so I know my hands are protected from further sun damage throughout the day, plus the subtle citrus is absolutely gorgeous too. Like all other products from Medik8, this one is a sure winner and highly recommended.

Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Hand Cream SFP15 - RRP: $49

Available from Active Skin, Adore Beauty, Facial Co, RY, Medik8 Online and select other stockists.

PRODUCT REVIEW: FLOCKMEN WOODEN KIDS TOYS

Today I have a very simple and basic, yet very cool toy to share with you - Flockmen. These cool little timber men are designed to encourage kids to be creative and imaginative, and they can grow with the child, as their abilities develop.

When they are little, 2-3 years of age, and starting to develop their construction skills, these Flockmen are perfect. And my two year old is so into building towers as tall as possible at the moment, and these little men a cool way of helping him learn balancing and coordination skills, along with more precise hand and eye coordination and a more controlled body movement. At this young age, the Flockmen are also great for basic numeracy and learning to count.

As the kids get older, they start to build more complex construction projects, which my 4 year old is a clear testament to. If we had more Flockmen, He'd be sure to use them in one of his elaborate constructions. But at this age they are also fantastic to use for more advanced numeracy, and create various games, and of course role playing too.

But between them, my two boys have thought of countless other things they can do and games they can play with the Flockmen, such as;

  • Building towers of various shapes
  • Domino game, lining them up in a row and see then all fall one after one
  • Game of seeing who can use the most in a tower
  • Counting and maths
  • Coming up fun names for them all
  • Using them as little people playing with various other toys they have

The Flockmen are made for Baltic Birch, so they are extremely durable, but as they are made from timber, it also means that the men may look slightly different due to the natural colouring of the wood, but personally I just find that more charming. Being made from timber also means that they are not only strong, but also very durable, being able to resist drops to the floor etc.

Their raw look also means that you can personalise them, but drawing on them, colouring them, or even making clothes for them, but personally I prefer their natural look.

The Flockmen are 50mm wide, 70mm tall, 15mm thick, which also means that they are large enough, for it to be almost impossible to swallow, so they are also a safe toy for little ones. They also come in a gorgeous, reinforced natural linen drawstring bag, so it is easy to store them when not in use.

These Flockmen may look basic and perhaps a tad old-school compared to some of the new toys on the market today, but this very basic nature is what makes them so unique and what helps inspire kids and trigger their imagination for new and fun ways of playing with them, and all while learning new and important developmental skills.

Flockmen Baby Set - RRP: $39.99 / 16 pieces
Flockmen Preschool Set - RRP: $59.99 / 32 pieces
Flockmen Classroom Set - RRP: $149.99 / 100 pieces

Available from Flockmen with free shipping and 30 day returns

PRODUCT REVIEW: YOUNGBLOOD MINERAL COSMETICS

One of those brands that I have long had my eyes on, has been Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, so when a selection of their newest products landed on my desk, I was naturally very excited putting them to the test.

I have only recently started to get more into mineral cosmetics, and this US mineral cosmetics brand is made with natural active botanicals. The products are also talc free and does not contain any ingredients that can irritate, clog pores or prevent the skin's natural healthy glow from shining through. In addition, the products are also eco-friendly and cruelty-free, which immediately give them bonus points.

Let's start with the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics CC Perfecting Primer, which is nothing short of amazing. This is a serious multi-tasking product that is rich in peptides, and it not only helps minimise the appearance of uneven skin tone and texture and controlling shine throughout, while also blurring dark circles, uneven skin tone and redness. It has a super light formula that is so perfect for my combinations skin, and it is so easy to apply and blend, and it simply feels so lovely on the skin, making it feel so soft and smooth too leaving the skin with a beautiful satin matte finish. You can use it on its own if you're just after a light coverage, or as a priming base - and in that case following makeup apply so much easier, and stay put looking nice for so much longer. The primer is not cheap, but you only need a tiny amount, and seriously incredible, and without a doubt the best primer that I have used!!

Then there's the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad. I tried the Eternity, which contains 4 earthy shades in a combination of matte, pearl and shimmery finishes. The compact contains;

  • Silken - a pale pink with a pearl finish (top left)
  • Quartz - a dusty Pink with a matte finish (top right)
  • Spice - an apricot/golden shade with a pearl finish (bottom left)
  • Mink - a dark brown with a matte finish (bottom right)

The Silken shade is perfect to use on the brow bone or inner corner for a touch of sheen, while the Quartz is great as a base shade. The Spice is great to use as a touch of glow, and the Mink on the outer corner and the lower lash line to define.

All the shades are soft and easy to apply and blend, and as they are very pigmented, it is also very easy to create an intense look. They can also be used both dry, or slightly damp for a more intense look, although personally they have enough intensity for me to only ever use them dry. They are made with rice starch and mica for a long wear, and are also free from perfumes and chemical dyes.

You can of course use them in any combination or individually on their own, but I really love every single shade in the compact, which is rare for me. And all these shades are so gorgeous, and perfect for a someone like me, preferring neutral and earthy shades. They come in a gorgeous and stylish black slimline compact with an internal mirror and a magnetic closure. It doesn't come with brushes included, but personally I don't mind, usually preferring to use my own anyway. The eye shadow compact is available in seven different shade combinations, so there's sure to be one that you like.

The Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Brow Artiste Sculpting Pencil, is an amazing double-ended brow tool. This pencil has a superfine angled tip that makes it so easy to fill in any gaps in your brows and make them appear more natural - which is essential for me, having gone through the 80s and 90s with a serious case of over-plucking!! This pencil immediately makes the brows look fuller, and I can then use the nifty spoolie brush in the other to both distribute and smudge the colour as well as comb them into shape, and thanks to the added wax, vitamin E and skin conditioners, it also helps my brows stay in place all day long. I also love that this pencil is smudge proof. It is available in three shades, and I tried the natural brunette, which is a perfect match for my medium brown brows.

Then there's the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Illuminate Palette. This palette contains 6 different pearlescent cream shades that you can use for pretty much anything you like, from strobing, highlight blush, or contouring for a more radiant look. The palette contains the following shades;

Top Row;

  • Pink - for cheeks and lips
  • Pearl - as a highlighter, or on top of your blush
  • Natural - as a highlighter or to contour
Bottom Row
  • Bronze - to contour or as bronzer or blush
  • Gold - to contour or as bronzer or blush
  • Peach - for cheeks and lips

But if you're not sure, the palette comes with a little instruction booklet to make everything so easy.

These cream shades are so light, and as it is an oil-free formula, it almost has a cream to powder formula. The shades are all very pigmented, and apply and blend so easily with you fingers, but you can of course also use a brush. I've enjoyed using these shades as highlights on my brow bones and top of my cheeks, the bronze to contour, and the pink and the apricot shades as a touch of flush on my cheeks, and I've even used a few of the shades on my lips for a touch of colour with a clear gloss on top. Or why not use a few as eye shadows. And regardless they wear well, without fading throughout the day, leaving my skin look radiant and glowing.

This is seriously a fantastic highlighting palette of such high quality The shade combination is so good that every single colour is a great match for my medium beige skin tone, so I will actually use every single shade. I also love the black leather-look compact with magnetic closure that is not only functional, but also looks so luxurious and stylish.

Finally, there's the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Lipstick. These lipsticks made using candellila wax and sun flower oil for moisture and shine and they are also enriched with Vitamin E, and green tea extract to protect the lips and offer a conditioning yet non-sticky formula, and feels so gorgeous on the lips. They have a nice sheen and supposedly offer sheer colour, but personally I actually feel that they offer a quite good coverage, that you can build up to quite intense, although you can of course just blot it on if you're after just a touch of colour. Often moisturising lipsticks haven't got the longest of wear, but they do actually stay on for 3+ hours, which I find reasonable, and even when thy do fade, they leave a gorgeous stain behind. There are a massive 34 shades in the range, so definitely something for every taste and occasion. I tried the shade Envy, which is a gorgeous berry plum shade, perfect for both day and evening wear.

So there you go, a selection of Youngblood Mineral Cosmetic, all of which is so incredible - these products are so luxurious and beautiful to use and wear, that it's impossible to not to love it all - I know I do, and that I'll be reaching for these product again and again over the coming months - and the product range is so huge, so I certainly wouldn’t mind adding a few more products to my collection, including some of their beautiful looking bronzers and blushes, foundations and concealers as well as a few more lip products wouldn’t go astray!! Definitely highly recommended.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics CC Perfecting Primer - RRP: $54 / 20ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: THE SAK PAX LEATHER CROSSBODY HANDBAG

Having two toddlers I have long been used to carting around a huge, and not particular feminine nappy bag. So when I am out on my own, I do love a great handbag, and lately I've been using nothing but this stunner from The Sak.

If you have not heard of The Sak before, it is one of the USA’s largest handbag companies that have been around for over two decades, and today are sold in over 850 speciality stores across 24 countries – including Australia, talk about a global success.

The Sak has a simple philosophy, to be happy & free, I love that! And hence, the company and designers believe in peace and harmony, and they interweave this into their handbags styles and designs. The Sak handbags are made from a combination of hand-crocheted and casual leather bags and mini bags. In addition, The Sak also makes some accessories, including stunning jewellery.

I have been loving The Sak handbag in the Pax Crossbody model, in the colour slate. This handbag is such a versatile handbag as it has a long strap so you can use it crossbody (and have your hands free, which is a lifesaver when you do have little kids with you!!), and you can alter the strap to make it shorter or longer to fit your need. But what's even better, is that you can actually also remove this strap, and fold the handbag over, so it turns into a clutch, and within seconds the handbag takes you from daytime to a night out.

The handbag is made from the softest leather and measures 30.4cm in height, and 27.9cm in length, while it is 5cm wide, so it can hold a fair bit, besides the usual purse, mobile and keys (and in my case, a large selection of lipsticks to suit my changing moods!!)

The handbag has a gorgeous printed cotton lining, and also has several internal, as well as one external zipper pocket to make organising your thing so easy.

I also love all the details of the handbag, from the beautiful stitching at the bottom, the little letter tag to pull the front zipper and the tassel with the The Sak logo, which has a modern, yet raw edge. And the colour Slate, is a beautiful and very functional dark grey colour too that is perfect to use throughout the year.

I am really impressed with this handbag. The design is not only nice, it is also of such high quality that it will literally last you forever, and you'll enjoy it each time you use it. I know that it has quickly become my favourite handbag - and I've already go my eyes set on a few other models. So if you're looking for a beautiful high-quality handbag, you really must check out The Sak, I know you won't regret it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: EYE OF HORUS FROM ACTIVESKIN

One of those brands that I've seen around a lot lately, and heard so much hype about, yet never had an opportunity to try, I Eye Of Horus - so when beautiful parcel arrived from Activeskin with a selection of their product, I was naturally very excited.

Eye of Horus is an Australian brand of eye makeup based from Australia, with product formulas based on the formulas of the Ancient Egyptians, the originators of beauty and mystique, with sacred ingredients including Organic Moringa Oil “Oil of the Pharaohs”, claimed by the gods for its beautifying and regenerating powers and the ancient oil of Castor Oil.

The Eye of Horus range takes its inspiration from the ancient Egyptians who wore eye makeup because they believed that it offered magical power and protection to the wearer. They lined their eyes with black Kohl, creating an almond-shaped eye - The Eye of Horus - which was believed to protect their eyes as well as providing a statement of beauty.

I tried a selection of products including the Eye Of Horus Luminous Isis Sun Goddess Eye Shadow Palette. This palette contains three Italian baked eye shadows, in satin metallic shades, which include;

  • Enigma Mist - peachy Pink Metallic Satin
  • Chalice Bronze - Golden Bronze Metallic Satin
  • Sacred Husk- Deep Golden Copper Metallic Satin

These shades are so lovely, and just the type of earthy shades that I reach for on a daily basis. The shades are quite pigmented, and they are soft and silky and quick and easy to apply and blend within minimum fallout. As promised they are also long wearing, staying put all day without fading or settling into fine lines.

The shades can be used both wet and dry. Dry for a more subtle day time look, or wet for a more intense and radiant finish, although I personally find them sufficiently intense and shimmery. But I do love that you can amplify them further for an intense look for a night out.

The eye shadow comes in a card box, as many other eye palettes at the moment, which has a magnetic closure. The palette is black and has a gorgeous golden goddess printed on the cover. Inside there's a mirror and it also comes with a double ended brush, with a rounded brush in one end, and an angled one in the other end.

Then there's the Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil in Nubian Brown, which is a eyeliner pencil in a dark matte brown shade - and personally I much prefer to use a dark brown over a black, as it is not as harsh looking. This eyeliner is really creamy and rich thanks to containing among others waxes from Beeswax, Carnuba and Candelilla as well as Organic Moringa Oil for a creamy rich formula. This eyeliner is so easy to use, without dragging and pulling at the sensitive eye area. And as promised it is so long lasting, staying put, without smudging or fading during the day, it is even waterproof, so it also stays put when my sensitive eyes water. I also love that it comes with a smudger in the other end, so I can use it for smoky eyes too.

The Eye of Horus Ultimate Brow Define, which is a superfine pointed pen to help contour and fill in colour for perfectly shaped brows. The pen is formulated using Coconut and Candelilla wax as a foundation, which also helps groom the brows, as well as caster oil for strengthening and growth. And this twist up pen is so easy to use, and gives such a natural look, also thanks to the spoolie brush in the other end which is useful for combing through the colour afterwards and smudge it. Whilst using it, I have not noticed any difference in the health of my brows, but regardless I still love using this.

Finally there's the Eye of Horus Bio Lash Lift Mascara, which is 100% Vegan and contains a massive 98% Organic ingredients including botanicals such as Marine Algae and plant derived Collagen, along with Omega 9, Vitamin E and castor seed oil to help add length, volume and nourishment to lashes while promoting natural growth.

The mascara has a double sided comb brush that makes it easy to apply and comb through the lashes to avoid any clumps, and give longer and more voluminous lashes, that are nicely separated with a nice lift and curl too. The smaller side is great for the lower lashes and the corners of the eyes, while the larger side of the comb is great for the upper lashes. I am also yet to see any difference in overall health of my lashes, but I still really enjoy this mascara. From the every first use it has given my lashes a nice look (unlike those mascaras you need to use countless times before they expense too much product onto your lashes), and I really love that it is made using natural and organic ingredients.

These products from Eye Of Horus really are lovely, and saying which product would be my favourite, would be impossible, although I absolutely adore the eye shadow palette, and wouldn't mind getting hold of a few of the other shade combinations, and that Goddess eyeliner pencil is also amazing.

Eye of Horus Eye Shadow Palette - RRP: $41.40
Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil - RRP: $27
Eye of Horus Brow Define Pencil - RRP: $22.50
Eye of Horus Bio Lash Lift Mascara - RRP: $34.20

PRODUCT REVIEW: HYDROSKIN SKINCARE

I have combination skin, which is always slightly greasy, and with a tendency to break out too, but each winter it does become a tad drier. It simply doesn't like the constant change of temperature from chilling winter winds, to being inside with the heater going - so in spite of its greasiness, I always have to up my skincare and use something that is more hydrating. So when I was offered to trial a selection of products from HydroSkin Skincare, I naturally said yes.

HydroSkin is an Australian boutique skincare range that believes less is more and consequently the products are made without all the unnecessary toxins including no parabens, sulphates, fragrances or other chemical nasties that can irritate the skin. Rather the products contain beneficial ingredients, of which 95% have been sourced locally from Australia.

One of HydroSkin key ranges, is the 3, which aims to soothe, plump, hydrate and brighten skin, reduce redness, fade age spots, reduce little wrinkles and refresh healthy skin tone, - and essentially HydroSkin says that these are the only products you need, no need for 'eye creams, neck creams, rejuvenating creams'.

The 3 Steps Set contains:
  • Hydro Mist for brighter, less pigmented skin
  • HA Serum for increased collagen production and plump, wrinkle-free skin
  • C Moisturiser to lock in hydration, fade age spots and defend skin from free radical
In addition to the 3 Step range of products, I was also sent the HydroSkin Cleanser, which is a very gentle no-fuss cleanser, that still removes all my makeup (except for my waterproof eye makeup, but I always prefer to use a specific eye makeup remover anyway!), without drying out my skin or making it feel irritated. It contains among others Chamomile Roman to calm acne, rashes, eczema, wounds, dermatitis, and dry and itchy skin, as well as water-soluble olive oil to hydrate and prevent the skin from becoming dry or tense after cleansing. Polyglucosen derived from sugar starch, which is an alternative to sulphates, only it is very mild and non-toxic.

After cleansing you follow with the first step of the 3 Steps routine, which is the Hydro Mist, which contains among others Vitamins B3 and B5 to help lightening the skin and fading age spits, while humectants penetrates deep into the skin to help retain moisture. It also contains aloe vera to help soothe and calm the skin, and hyaluronic acid to help nourish the skin, preventing moisture loss and improving hydration. Overall, the Hydramist aims to help reduce hyper-pigmentation, hydrate, brighten and lighten the skin, and also fade age spots, reduce red blotchiness, improve hydration and soften wrinkles.

The Hydro Mist is used morning and evening after cleansing by applying 10-12 pumps to the face, neck and chest, personally I find that a bit much, and have feel about 6 or so pumps is sufficient. The Hydro Mist feels lovely and cooling on the skin, and leaves the skin lovely to touch, and I love that it has next to no scent. While the skin is still damp from the Hydro Mist, you apply the next step, the HA Serum,

The HydroSkin HA Serum contains miniHA™ and Hyaluronic Acid, to help add rapid hydration and increased plumpness, firmness and luminosity to the skin. You apply 3-4 pumps to the palm of your hand, rub together an apply evenly to the damp. The serum is very light in consistency (so perfect for my combination skin!), and spreads easily, and absorbs very quickly into the skin, without any greasiness. Again, it has next to no fragrance.

While the skin is still damp from the HA Serum, you apply the final step, the C Moisturiser. This moisturiser contains a stable form of vitamin C that helps reduce redness and minimises fine lines and wrinkles, increase collagen, lightens the skin and defends against free radicals, all, without irritating the skin. In addition, the moisturiser among others also contains Vitamin B3, and hyaluronic acid to help lighten the skin and fade age spots as well as add increase skin hydration.
The C Moisturiser is to be used twice daily, morning and night, after they Hydro Mist and HA Serum, by applying 3-4 pumps to face, neck, and chest. Follow with UV protection in the morning.

This moisturiser is slightly thicker than I personally prefer for my skin type and it consequently also take a few moments to absorb into the skin. But once it has, it does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. It has a slightly odd scent, but it is very faint, and fades quickly, so certainly nothing that bothers me.

Finally, I also tried out the HydroSkin Salt Scrub with Alaea Red Clay, a volcanic red clay that is a purifying, all natural exfoliant. This facial scrub helps give the skin a deep cleanse, and detoxify the skin from pollutants and toxins, encouraging the production of new skin cells, to leave the smoother, brighter and more glowing.

From the infusion in the volcanic pools, it contains up to 80 natural minerals and electrolytes, including potassium and magnesium, as well as it has an added base of avocado oil and olives.

It is super quick and simple to use, just take a scoop and massage gently into the dry face, neck and decollete for 30 seconds, before rinsing it off, although if you want a deeper cleanse, or have oily/problem skin you can leave it on for up to five minutes, which I have been doing.

The mask also has a slightly odd scent, but again, nothing you can't tolerate, and it has a gorgeous red colour from the clay, which also means that it is slightly messy, so personally I prefer to simply rinse it off in the shower!! And afterwards my skin is definitely feeling and looking clearer and brighter, with my skin less greasy and pores clearly refined.

But what were my overall thoughts on the skincare range… I have to say that I am really enjoying them. My skin is clearly loving the intense moisture, and thankfully it has tolerated it without breaking out, something it often does when exposed to new and rich skincare products. It did take a little getting used to that you have to apply the next step while the skin is still damp from the previous product. I do have quite a bit of increasing pigmentation and also more and more lines and wrinkles, and while neither has reduced dramatically, I can tell a difference and that my skin generally is looking and feeling softer, smoother and plumper, and dare I say also more radiant.

I've enjoyed using all the products, and they are definitely perfect to help combat any winter dryness, but come spring and summer when my skin again tends to become a little greasier, I could suspect that especially the moisturiser will become a little too rich and heavy for my skin.

The products come in stylish silver and white bottles with pumps that makes them easy to use too - and they look so stylish and luxurious, and I do love that the products are not only Aussie, but also free from all the nasties too. If you want to up your skin care this winter, then you really should check out these products.

PRODUCT REVIEW: FIREMAN SAM TOYS

As I told you the other day, my two little boys are so typical boys, absolutely loving playing police and fire men, so needless to say that they are huge fans of the TV Show Fireman Sam.

To celebrate that this year it's Fireman Sam's 30-year anniversary, a new range of toys have been released, which are all available through Australia Post.

The Firemen Sam program takes place in a fictitious rural village of Pontypandy in Wales, where it helps teach young children all about bravery, safety and the values of community spirit.

And it is not just fire emergencies that Fireman Sam comes to the rescue. He helps with all kinds of safety incidents in the town, from sea-borne or cliff-top disaster to barbecue fiascos. Fireman Sam can man the lifeboat and help with mountain rescues and even assist medical emergency team. Fireman Sam is always there, and he is such a true hero, it's no wonder he is loved by kids.

First up is the Fireman Sam Backpack, which is such a great backpack for kids. It has heaps of pockets throughout, on the sides for i.e. a water bottle, and on the front for some toys or snacks. And it has the cutest Fireman Sam print. It also has adjustable straps, so it is suitable for kids in a range of sizes, and can of course be used for kinder or school. My boys are not quite that old yet, but they have been loving taking it with them when we go out, and they packing their toys to take with them.

Then there's the Fireman Sam Helmet. This cool bright yellow fireman hat is sure to spark imaginative play. The helmet has a plastic visor and also comes with a microphone, for hours of endless fun. It can be adjusted internally to fit a different sizes, and also has a velcro strap to secure it on the head.

Then there's the Fireman Sam Vehicles, which includes boat, ship, helicopter, car and firetruck, and my boys have been testing out the fire car and the fire truck. The push along fire car, also called Venus, has lots of features, including a rotatable water nozzle on the room, and doors of the car can be opened for extra fun. The push along Firetruck, also called Jupiter, comes with even more features. The doors can be opened, and it has an extendable rescue platform. And on each side of the car, other doors can be opened too, one revealing the rescue equipment, and the other side the fire hose, which can even be unwind and pulled out. My boys really love these car and trucks, and have spent hours and hours putting out the fire around the house!! The only thing that would have been a great addition, also considering the doors to the vehicles can be opened, would be some little firemen figurines (which are also pictured on the back of the packaging), but you must be able to purchase these separately, which we will definitely be looking into, as I know my boys would love this.

However, all in all, these are really great toys, and I love watching them play with them after watching a Fireman Sam episode on TV, as it sparks their imagination further, and they clearly try to reenact what they've just watched.

Fireman Sam Backpack - RRP: $24.99
Fireman Sam Helmet - RRP: $16.99
Fireman Sam Vehicles - RRP: $24.95 each

Available from participating Australia Post Office outlets and select toy stores

PRODUCT REVIEW: HERBAL ESSENCES DAILY DETOX VOLUME SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

When it comes to budget hair care, one of those brands I've always loved, is Herbal Essences, so I was excited when I got the opportunity to put the newest products to the test, the Herbal Essences Daily Detox Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.

These products are intended for daily use and I love the fact that they are made free from silicones, parabens and colorants. They are very gentle, and in fact so gentle, that they are also safe enough to use on colour treated hair, without the risk of fading the colour.

The shampoo is also free from silicones and PH balanced, and it gently cleanses the hair, while the conditioner adds a good dose of essential moisture back into my hair. And these products really do feel like they give both my hair and scalp a detox, refreshing dull and lifeless locks, and leaving them feeling silky soft and looking shiny and healthy.

The conditioner is also PH balanced, though does unfortunately contain silicones, although I do not feel that it causes any build up in my hair, or makes it feel weighed down, which some products with silicones seem to do in my hair. But rather, as these product seem to actually help remove any build up of i.e excess styling products in my hair, they actually seem to give my otherwise flat hair a little more volume and bounce.

As usual, Herbal Essences has brought out products that smell incredible, and these Daily Detox products are certainly no exception, as they simply smell divine thanks to the extracts and oils from crimson orange, grapefruit, bergamot, peppermint and mint. And I really like that even once my hair is dry, this beautiful and natural scent continues to linger in my hair.

If you're looking for a great every day shampoo and conditioner, then you really must check out these Daily Detox products from Herbal Essences.

Herbal Essences Daily Detox Shampoo - RRP: $6.49 / 300ml
Herbal Essences Daily Detox Conditioner - RRP: $6.49 / 300ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: HASBRO TOILET TROUBLE

Having two kids, we are forever trying to keep them entertained, and they are now starting to be at an age where they think family games are lots of fun. And lately we've all had so many giggles over the new Toilet Trouble..

I am not sure if it something about they yukky-ness with it being a toilet, or the mere fact that you get squirted with toilet water, but my two boys love this game so much, and I love hearing them laugh hysterically because they think it is so hilarious.

This game is the perfect game for the whole family, and will literally make everyone laugh. The game is suitable for kids aged 5+, but our 4 year old absolutely loves it too, and have no issues playing and understanding the rules, and even our 2 year old loves it too, and you just need to be a minimum of two players to play.

Toilet Trouble is a suspense filled game, where the players take turn to place the toilet bowl immediately in front of them, open the toilet seat/lid, spin the toilet paper roll, and flush the toilet hoping they wont get squirted with water.

The rules are simple, so perfect for little kids too - and it simply says that the number that turns up on the toilet roll spinner dictates how many times each player must flush the toilet. And of course, the more times you need to flush, the bigger chances of getting sprayed. It's all about which flush will cause the gush…. and if you're sprayed with water, then you're out.

When you hear the flushing sound and no water squirted, then the player is safe, and the next player is up. And you simply continue to take turns spinning the toilet roll and flushing the toilet until the last player has not been sprayed, and that's how wins the game.

The game does need to be assembled before you can play, but it is quick and easy to do - the only thing is, that once the toilet is put together, it is a little tricky to be pulled apart (I didn't want to risk breaking it), and sadly it doesn't fit into the box once assembled. The actual toilet looks like a miniature version of an actual old-style toilet and the flushing sound is also very realistic. To make the flushing sound and spray, the toilet does require a coupe of batteries, but they are included with the game to get you started. You then put clean tap water into the toilet bowl up to the line, and then you can let all the toilet troubles begin..

So much fun, so highly recommended if you're after a different and fun game to play with the family.

Hasbro Toilet Trouble - RRP: $29

PRODUCT REVIEW: CLARINS HYDRA-ESSENTIEL BI-PHASE SERUM, MILKY LOTION, COOLING GEL, SILKY CREAM AND RICH CREAM

One of the first luxe brand I used as a teenager was Clarins. I absolutely loved their gentle products, which made such a tremendous difference to my blemish prone skin at the time. Since then, I've used a large selection of their products (you can see all my features via my product directory or through the labels on), and in fact, my most popular post of all time is of the Clarins Double Serum, which is incredible product, so make sure to check it out too. Anyway, this is all about a new range of products that Clarins has just launched, the Hydra-Essentials range.

This range is all about daily thermic shocks, which include the changes in temperature and environment, from chilling winter winds to indoor heating - and how these impact on skin’s natural hydration levels. The key ingredient of the new Clarins Hydra-Essentials range is the organic leaf of life, a plant found in Madagascar, which has succulent leaves and the ability to retain water despite the extreme temperature changes, and with the products, Clarins aims to

help restore the skin’s capacity to retain water to leave it Intensely hydrated, looking radiant, fresh and smooth all day long. I've put a selection of the product to the test, here are my thoughts.

The Hydra-Essential Intensive Moisture Quenching Bi-Phase Serum is a very lightweight, and slightly runny serum intended for normal to dry and 'thirsty' skin giving it a moisture boost, while also addressing enlarged pores and dullness. As the name suggests, it is made up of two phases, so you need to give it a little shake before pumping it out. I use about two pumps, which I apply to my face in dabbing motions, and it instantly absorbs into my skin, immediately making it feel refreshed, soft and moisturised, and without any greasiness. The serum also contains organic Mary's thistle oil to improve the skin's protective hydrolipidic film, along with orthosiphon extract to help refine the skin's texture for a smoother complexion and 'beautyberry' extract to help revive radiance. The serum can be used morning and evening after cleansing and prior to your usual moisturiser.

For the daytime, I've been really loving the Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizes and Quenches Milky Lotion SPF, which I intended for normal to combination skin, and thus perfect for my skin. This milky lotion is so light and gorgeous on the skin, also absorbing quickly into the skin, leaving it so smooth and velvety soft - and as there is no greasiness, and thanks to containing an ingredient to help regulate sebum production, it keeps my otherwise greasy skin looking matte all day, so it is also the perfect foundation for makeup too. I also love that it comes Anti-pollution complex to guard my skin against external harm, as well as SPF to protect my skin from any harmful UV rays throughout the day.

For those with drier skin types, there's the Hydra-Essential Silky Cream SPF 15, which is for normal to dry skin - a slightly thicker day-time cream suitable, which also has the added Anti-pollution complex to guard my skin against external harm, as well as SPF to protect my skin from any harmful UV rays throughout the day.

Next up there's the Hydra-Essentiel Rich Cream for Very Dry Skin, and I have to admit here that I have not tested this one out, as it is not really suitable for my combination skin prone to breakouts, also as I fear that anything too rich will make my skin congested and make it break out. So I will be hanging on to this cream, and pulling it out as the weather drops further and my skin generally drier. Anyway, this cream also contains among others nourishing fatty acids from cupuassu butter to add comfort to dry skin or skin exposed to extreme cold, and it is seriously thick and rich, so if you have dry skin (or perhaps planning a trip to the snow), this is one for you.

Finally, there's the Hydra-Essentiel Cooling Gel for Normal to Combination skin, which I've been using as a night cream (as it doesn't contain SPF). As you'd expect, it has a very light gel consistency, and immediately absorbs into the skin, leaving it feeling so refreshed. I love that it gives my skin such intense moisture, but hanks to also containing the sebum regulating ingredient, I don't wake in the morning with a skin that is greasy or oily.

These products all come in the most stunning bright blue bottles and jars, and the creams and lotions have the most divine floral scents that I just cannot get enough off.

And overall I am really enjoying using these Hydra-Essentiel products, with my favourites being the Bi-Phase Serum morning and evening, the Milky Lotion during the day, and the Cooling Gel at night - simply because these products are so great for my skin type.

While my skin is combination, and as such I do not feel they need extra moisture, using these products for a few weeks has really benefitted my skin, and it has clearly loved the extra moisture and nourishment, as I feel it is looking so much plumper, and consequently I also feel that smaller lines and wrinkles are less visible. My skin also both looks softer and smoother, and more radiant and glowing too.

Without thinking about it, our daily commute to and from work and the shops, and spending time indoors in a heated house, all has such a huge impact on our skin, and even more so during winter, when the extreme between indoor and outdoor temperatures is bigger. So regardless your skin type, your skin will really thank you for giving it an intense boost of hydration and protection with these Clarins Hydra-Essentiel products, so be sure to go check them out.

Hydra-Essential Intensive Moisture Quenching Bi-Phase Serum - RRP: $72 / 30ml
Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizes and Quenches Milky Lotion SPF - RRP: $70 / 50ml
Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizes and Quenches Silky Cream SPF 15 - RRP: $70 / 50ml
Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizes and Quenches Rich Cream - RRP: $70 / 50ml
Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizes and Quenches Cooling Gel - RRP: $70 / 50ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: ULTIMATE EARS WONDERBOOM SPEAKER

I always have music playing throughout the day, as even with two noisy toddlers, the house simply feels so quiet without it. And two little boys actually love it too, often singling and dancing along to the latest hits. And thanks to the cool Wonderboom Speaker from Ultimate Ears we have the best sound….

The incredible Wonderboom Speaker from Ultimate Ears, is quite small - about the size of a large coffee mug, but don't be fooled by its little size, as this portable wireless speaker has incredible big sound that is so clear and crisp, and with a big and full bass too - and it easily gets the beat going in my huge family room.

It also has an incredible blue tooth reach too, easily connecting with my phone at the other end of the house too. It comes with a little nifty hook, so you can take it with you every where and hang it just where you need it, such as in the garden, or even in the shower as it is also completely waterproof, or perhaps a trip in the pool where it will float!

The Wonderboom is also super simple to operate, turning the volume up or down, just gently press the 'plus' or 'minus' signs on the front, and you can of course also pause or skip till you get to your favourite song. The Wonderboom is also quickly and easy to charge, and once you have fully charged it - it comes with a USB cable so you can do it via your computer - you have a massive 10 hours of non-stop music.

The Wonderboom is available in a cool range of colours including an adorable pink, purple, and black or grey as the one I've got.

This is seriously an incredible speaker, with such a great sound, and it looks pretty awesome too, so it’s a great buy regardless if you put it in your family room, your kids' room, or its for the garden or shed, you're absolutely going to love it.

Ultimate Ears Wonderboom - RRP: $129

PRODUCT REVIEW: VONBLU LIPSTICKS

Today I'm going to share with you one of my newest discoveries, VonBlu lipsticks. VonBlu is an Australian brand, with all products designed, produced and tested (but not on animals!!) in Sydney. And what makes these lipsticks even better, is that they are 100% vegan friendly and made using only natural ingredients, free from all the nasty chemicals and synthetics, but still loaded with vitamin e to heel the lips soft and hydrated.

I love how the name VonBlu originates from a military leader named Gebhard Leberecht Von BlĂĽcher, who was best known for the defeat of Emperor Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo in 1815, such a great touch. And this is even further accentuated as the 12 lipsticks in the range are all have Swedish names in homage to BlĂĽcher’s first service in the Swedish army. And while I don’t speak Swedish, being Danish, I do have some understanding or what these names mean..

Again, the VonBlu lipstick range consists of 12 gorgeous semi-matte lipsticks, and I put two of them to the test, the Flamma (which means Flame) and the Brasa (which means bonfire).

Flamma is a dark red shade, while Brasa is a brighter and more classic red shade - but both of these are so stunning they are very pigmented and you just need a single swipe for a full coverage of gorgeous semi-matte shade - and while many matte lipsticks often leave the lips feeling dry and uncomfortable, this is far from the case with these. They are so lovely wear, and makes the lips feel soft and smooth. The dark shade also means that they have a good wear, lasting well over 4+ hours, and even when they fade, they leave behind a lovely stain on the lips.

So I've really enjoyed using these lipsticks, as they are lovely to wear, and the colours are so beautiful too, regardless if you're going out, or just want to brighten up your face on a dull day.

I also really love the simple gunmetal grey packaging of these lipsticks. They come in a unique 'pop' tube that you click to open and 'pop out' which means they are more secure in the handbag. The simple white logo branding on the tube looks along with the unique triangle boxes the lipsticks come in looks fantastic, and do make them look very luxe too.
If you looking for a lipstick that is not only beautiful, but also natural and good for you, then you really should check out these VonBlu lipsticks

VonBlu Lipstick - RRP: $29 / 3.6g

I've put a few things to the test, including some Triumph and Curvy Kate. I have grown up in Europe, so I am well aware of Triumphs great quality and fits, whether you prefer simple styles, are after maternity bras, sports bras, minimiser bras, or simply pretty bras - and these pieces I tried are definitely no exception, full of pretty details, and with the perfect fit. I picked some grey styles as they are perfect for the darker winter clothes I'm currently wearing.

I hadn't come across Curvy Kate before, but the brand is designed for those with fuller busts, available up to K cups in sizes up to 22. And I have to say that I am so impressed with the black set I've put to the test. It has the prettiest black dotted lace design, and a great supportive design, that simply feels so comfortable to wear.

After breastfeeding my two boys, my body shape has changed and I need to re-fill my lingerie drawer with styles to fit my now changed 'body and boob' shape, and I have no doubt that I will be checking back in at Curvy Bras regularly, as again, they have so many gorgeous styles and brands, and even a great sale section too where you can pick up some great bargains.
