PRODUCT REVIEW: GRAMPIANS OLIVE CO SKINCARE

Today I'm super excited to share some local hand-made olive oil based skin care with you, from the Grampians Olive Co.

As the name suggests, the Grampians Olive Co. Is a 100% family owned business that makes olive oil, infused olive oils, condiments, olives, artisan vinegars, as well as some hand-made olive oil based skincare too.

I've put the Grampians Olive Co. Organic Hand & Body Butter to the test, along with the lavender scented olive oil soap.

The Grampians Olive Co. Organic Hand & Body Butter is large, 400ml jar of rich un-fragranced and hand-crafted cream made using organic olive oil and organic shea butter. The cream is thick and rich and has a slightly whipped formula. And because it is so rich, it does take a few moments to absorb into the skin, but its worth the wait, as once it has, the skin is left feeling so soft and smooth and thoroughly hydrated, which lasts throughout the day with no need to reapply. It also works perfectly as a hand cream, or even on your feet with a pair of socks on top, if they need a little extra TLC. It is the perfect cream for those with dry skin, and as it doesn't any fragrance, it is also perfect for those with sensitive skin types. The large tub comes with a gorgeous golden lid, which makes it look simple, yet luxurious at the same time.

Then there's the Grampians Olive Co. Organic Lavender Olive Oil Soap. I admit here that I am not a huge user of soap blocks, as I feel they tend to become messy very quickly. But that said, I have enjoyed using this one, as the soft lather cleanses the skin so gently, without drying it out, and leaves it feeling soft. I also like that each time I go to the toilet, the gorgeous natural scent of lavender fills the room, and the uneven block shape of the soap, gives it character and makes it even more unique.

These products are seriously lovely, and I am especially addicted to the Hand & Body Butter, and love how soft and intensely moisturised it leaves my skin.

Grampians Olive Co. Skincare Pack - RRP: $50 / includes 1x Hand & Body Butter, 400g and 2 x organic olive oil soaps (unscented and lavender)

Available from Grampians Olive Co. and select stockists

PRODUCT REVIEW: CLARINS INSTANT LIGHT LIP COMFORT OILS

As a beauty blogger, needless to say that I use a large variety of different beauty products, aimed at different areas from top to toe. But every so often you come across a new type of product that really gets you excited like no other - and that's exactly what the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils did to me..

These Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oils are infused with 100% pure plant oils to nourish, soothe and plump lips, while leaving them with a just a touch a colour, and giving them a gorgeous scent at the same time. They can be used on their own for soft and hydrated lips, before lipstick for a smoother look, or on top of lipstick for added shine and gloss.

There are 7 different shades in the range, of which 4 of them have just been added to the range;

  • Honey Glam, for a pop of shimmer
  • Mint for a cool, natural look
  • Candy, which react to the PH of your lips creating a personalised shade of pink
  • Tangerine, which react to the PH of your lips creating a personalised shade of pink or coral
The Lip Oils come in square lipgloss-style tube, with the signature golden Clarins lid. And what I really love, is the large foot doe applicator, which makes it so easy to apply the oil across the lips in a single stroke.

As for the shades, each of them are not only different in terms of their shade, but also in their unique star ingredient, scent, and thus also in its benefits to the lips.

Lets start with the Candy, which is also one my favourites. This one contains organic aramanth flower extract, which is a native South American flower, which not only smells gorgeous, as well as it has hydrating and nourishing properties. This shade also has the unique feature that it will react to the PH of your lips creating a very personalised shade of pink with varies from person to person. How cool! In the tube it looks a slightly fluro pink, but on my lips it turns a pale soft pink which is enhancing the natural shade of the lips. It has a slightly sweet, floral candy scent.

Then there's Tangerine, which is also a favourite. It has the same unique PH technology, and while it has a orangy-red tint in the packaging, it gives my lips a lovely coral tint. It contains buriti extract to enhance and nourish and maintain the moisture in the lips, and it has sweet orange, or guess I should say, tangerine scent.

Next is the Mint, which initially did make me pause for a second, as I am really not one for green lips, as it looks in the tube. But thankfully it doesn't make your lips green, it actually has next to no tint leaving the lips with just a glossy look. As the name suggests, the star ingredient is menthe des champ, or menthol, to stimulate blood flow, which gives a cooling sensation, but also leaves the lips nourished while also having a plumping effect. I personally didn't see a major plumping effect, but love mint, and also the cooling and refreshing feeling on my lips. Unexpectedly, it doesn't actually smell that minty, but is rather sweet too.

Finally, there's Honey Glam, which contains tiny golden shimmer particles. On the lips it leaves a golden sheen with the glitter, and once it gloss wears off, the glitter particles tend to stay on the lips. I am not personally that fond of glitter, which is why this one is my least favourite of the bunch. That said, it is lovely to use on top of a lipstick for that extra radiance. Its star ingredient is hazelnut oil with the purpose of adding nourishment and hydration to the lips. It has a lovely warm honey scent.

Overall I am really loving these lip oils - not really because of their shades, as they are so subtle, but because they simply feel so lovely and non sticky on my lips and instantly make my lips feel so soft and smooth, and for hours after they've worn off. These lip oils have completely won me over, and I find myself reaching for them instead of my usual lip balm during the day, or in the casual situations when I'd usually use a neutral lip gloss. I can see myself repurchasing these again and again. So there are 7 shades in the range, the above four new shades along with existing Honey, Raspberry and Red Berry - I think I'll definitely need to go check out especially Raspberry and Red Berry... And you too should check them out, as they seriously are incredible, and as their name suggests, they really are so comfortable to wear.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil - RRP: $33.00 ea / 7ml

Available from Clarins, Myer, David Jones and select pharmacies

CONFIDENT IN YOUR OWN SKIN WITH QV SKINCARE

One of those brands I've always loved, is QV Skincare. Their products are super gentle, so perfect for anyone with sensitive skin.

And as my husband's skin easily gets irritated, and our two little boys, who both have very fair and sensitive skin, we pretty much always have a selection of QV Skincare products in the house. Our 2 year old has had some skin issues with rashes and skin irritation to the point we took him to hospital, and he following saw a dermatologist - and on top of their recommendation is always gentle skincare, with QV on the top of the specialists' list.

But apart from sensitive skin, in a recent study undertaken by QV Skincare about how people feel about their skin and how it can impact them day-to-day, it was discovered that a massive 82% of Australian women lack the skin confidence and 67% aren't confident the products they use are the best for their skin type. The survey also revealed that 61% of women make changes to their lifestyle if they are having a bad skin day, lifestyle changes that respondents reported included wearing more makeup than usual, avoiding socialising or being in photos, wearing over-sized sunglasses and hats.

The survey also showed that only 33% of women can confidently say they know which products are best for their skin, while a massive 84% of millennials are unaware!

And frankly speaking, I can certainly nod at these findings, always struggling with my skin and breakouts, trying out a myriad of products over the years, and most definitely piling on the makeup to try to cover up!

QV Skincare has acknowledged this, and has a range of different products to provide a variety of solutions, depending on your skins need at the time. And common for all, is that these products are super gentle for and suitable for both sensitive and dry skin types too. The products are all pH balanced and dermatologically tested, and do not contain potential irritants such as colour, fragrance, lanolin or propylene glycol. And what's more is that they are Australian owned and made - and very close to where l live in Melbourne too.

I have put a selection of their products to the test, including both old favourites and others new to the QV
Skincare range...

First up is the QV Shower Milk, which is like a lightweight body lotion designed to work in the shower to gently cleanse dry skin while rehydrating it. It contains light liquid paraffin to promote rehydration and gelled paraffin to reduce epidermal water loss and is also designed to help relieve the symptoms of atopic eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, xerosis, dermatitis and sun-damaged skin. If you're feeling 'very dirty' after for instance being in the garden and is covered in dirt and oil, then I am not sure that it is intense enough, but for me it is certainly giving my skin sufficient cleanse on a daily basis - and the same or our two little boys.

The non-greasy formula contains light liquid paraffin to promote rehydration and gelled paraffin to reduce epidermal water loss. It is low-irritant and free from fragrance, colour, lanolin and propylene glycol.

Afterwards the shower, we use one of our trusted faves, the QV Skin Lotion. This is a very light moisturising lotion designed to soothe and repair dry skin, seal in the moisture and act as a protective barrier. The lotion absorbs super quick into the skin, without any greasiness, so you can get dressed immediately. This is one of my favourite moisturisers to use on my little boys, along with the slightly thicker and more intense version when their skin is extra dry.

On my face, new to me is the QV Face Gentle Foaming Cleanser, which is a soap-free liquid to foam cleanser designed to remove makeup and gently cleanse the skin, while preventing it from drying out. I love how gentle it is on my skin, leaving it so soft, but do find that it is struggling a little removing my long-wearing makeup, but I've been enjoying using it in the morning before applying my makeup, to remove the nights' oil build up.

Then there's the QV Face Cleansing Wipes, and I have to admit that I am not a huge user of facial wipes, mainly because I just love splashing water in my face, and regardless of how tired I am or how late I get to bed, I will always remove my makeup and cleanse my face with a 'proper' facial cleanser. So the only time I will usually use facial wipes is when I am on the go, or on long-haul flights, and feel my skin needs a cleanse and a pick-me-up mid-flight. That said, I do like that these are designed with vitamin E and safflower oil to replenish moisture levels, and are claim to be strong enough to remove waterproof makeup. I'll keep these handy for my next overseas trip.

Then there's the QV Face Ultra Calming Moisturiser, which is a moisturiser made with oat kernel extract, vitamins B3 and E, pro-vitamin B5 and glycerin to leave the skin feeling fresh and hydrated for up to 24 hours. The moisturise is quite lightweight and specifically designed to calm and soothe sensitive skin. I don't really have sensitive skin on my face, but my husband has really taken to this moisturiser, as it helps calm his skin after his morning shave, and keeps his skin soft and hydrated throughout the day, without giving him that greasy look. Being sensitive to strongly scented products on his face, he also loves the fact that this is non-fragranced.

Finally, onto another one of my favourites, the QV Face Purifying Mask. This mask is made with kaolin, panthanol, safflower oil and vitamin E, and it is designed to smooth, hydrate, purify and cleanse skin, and thanks to the clay base it helps draw out excess oils and dirt from the pores. The mask is so gentle that it can be used daily, which is pretty rare for a clay mask - but this one manages to give the skin a deep clean, while leaving the skin soft and moisturised. The mask is to be left on the skin for 5-10 minutes, and after being rinsed off, I can both see and feel that my skin is looking less greasy and my skin is simply more clearer. I don't usually need to use a mask daily, but at that special time each month, my skin always gets greasier and is more blemish prone, and using the mask daily during this period, always helps keep my skin healthier.

QV Skincare Shower Milk - RRP: $11.20 / 250ml
QV Skincare Skin Lotion - RRP: $11.20 / 250ml
QV Skincare Face Gentle Foaming Cleanser - RRP: $13.50 / 150ml
QV Skincare Face Cleansing Wipes - RRP: $7.15 / 25wipes
QV Skincare Face Ultra Calming Moisturiser - RRP: $17.95 / 75g
QV Skincare Face Purifying Mask - RRP: $13.95 / 75g

BOBBI BROWN PINK PEONY ILLUMINATING BRONZING SET FOR BREAST CANCER // PRODUCT REVIEW

October marks the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as always, there are an increasing number of companies that bring out pink products, and donate a large percentage of the proceeds of their sales to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). One brand that is huge supporter, is Bobbi Brown Cosmetics who continues to empower women and as a part of the Estée Lauder Companies group, and over the years, the group has raised over $US70 million globally to support breast cancer education and research. This year, Bobbi Brown is honouring Breast Cancer Campaign’s 25th Anniversary. So this year Bobbi Brown supports the campaign, with the Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzing Powder Set...

The limited edition Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzing Set is available from today, September 25th, and 20% of the purchase price, equivalent to $16 will be donated to NBCF.

The Bobbi Brown Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzing Set includes a rosy pink shade of Illuminating Bronzing Powder and a cute pink mini Face Blender Brush. And the powder is seriously pretty. The round black signature compact has a large internal mirror and the pretty powder is embossed with the symbol for breast cancer awareness, the ribbon. The actual powder is super soft and fine.

I am not really sure why it is called a bronzer.. Yes, you can dust it lightly over the skin for a shimmering look, but in my opinion it serves better as a blush. And I absolutely love it as a blush. The pink shade is a medium shade, and on the lips, it gives a gorgeous natural rosy pink flush, with a nice shimmering glow, yet without being too shiny or glittery. It is quite pigmented, so you can either sweep it on for a light look, or build it up as you like.

This ultra-soft and smooth pressed powder delivers a shimmering, sun-kissed glow and flatters a wide range of skin tones. It is such a gorgeous shade that is perfect for everyday use.

The cute little brush has a pink handle and super soft white hairs, and it is just such a gorgeous addition to the set.

I am so in love with this set, and I already know it will be my go-to blush as we head towards summer. You can get your hands on one too, but hurry, as remember that this is limited edition, and they will without a doubt sell out fast, as who can resist a pretty blush that support an amazing cause at the same time.

Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzing Set - RRP: $80.00 - of which Bobbi Brown will donate $16.00 National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Available from Bobbi Brown

PRODUCT REVIEW: BEAN BODY COCONUT COFFEE SCRUB

Coffee Scrubs are all the rave at the moment, and as a coffee lover, I have naturally jumped on on board too, and love not only the gorgeous coffee scent, and what they do to my skin. So when a pack of Bean Body Coffee Scrub landed on my desk, I couldn't wait to try..

Bean Body Coffee Scrub, is an Australian brand, who believes that we should all feel beautiful inside and out - and note that while they are Australian, they do have offices overseas too, and ships worldwide!. And hence they have created Bean Body, a range of affordable, organic, and natural body products, made with the highest quality premium ingredients.

I tried the Bean Body Coconut Coffee Scrub, which contains among others;

  • Caffeine from the Arabica Seed Powder to stimulate blood flow and help reduce the appearance of cellulite, eczema, stretch marks, age spots, varicose veins and psoriasis
  • Demerara Sugar and Himalayan Salt to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin, acne, whiteheads, blackheads, breakouts and other skin blemishes
  • Coconut Oil and jojoba seed oil and almond oil to hydrate and moisturise the skin
  • Cocoa and Vitamin E which are high in antioxidants to nourish and protect the skin, promoting cell repair and rejuvenation

This coffee scrub essentially looks like most other coffee scrubs - like the used coffee beans in your coffee machine! But in addition, the added ingredients including the coconut oil, gives this the most divine scent.

To use, you simply scrub a handful onto damp skin, and massage in circular motions, focusing on problem areas, such as areas with stretchmarks, age spots or where you have breakouts. You then leave it to dry on the skin for about 5 minutes before rinsing it off. Personally I wash my hair, and after I've rinsed it, and applied my conditioner or hair treatment, I use the scrub, and once done, I use the time waiting for both the conditioner and the body scrub to do its magic, by shaving my armpits or using my Clairsonic on my face, is before rinsing everything off.

The actual scrub is a little coarse, so I am not sure how you'd go if you have very sensitive skin, but personally I do not have any issues, and quit like the gritty feel as I massage it over my skin. And after each use, I can clearly feel my skin is so soft and smooth, all dead skin cells gently buffed away, while the oils have added moisture and nourishment to my skin. And leaving my skin - and my bathroom smelling rather nice of coffee too, giving me a much needed caffeine kick at the same time.

I am not - and if you regularly tune into BLH, you'll know this -the biggest lover of coconut scented products, but thankfully this is still quite subtle, so I actually don't mind, but there are so many other varieties in the Bean Body range, that there is something for everyone, including me, - and I already got my eyes on the Mandarin Coffee Scrub as well as the Peppermint Coffee Scrub!

If I have to be negative, - and this would go for all coffee scrubs, but I don't enjoy that I feel have to clean my shower afterwards, as it really does tend to become a little messy. Also, I do find the packaging a little tricky to use when in the shower with wet hands, and do not really find it ideal sticking my wet hands into the pack, as I feel I not only add water to the product, but also drop so much of the scrub in the process. I would much prefer it if could come in some type of plastic bottle allowing you to easily tip out the amount of product needed without wasting or diluting the product.

But all of that said, it is a fantastic scrub. It is efficient, yet gentle, and with regular use it clearly leaves the skin looking and feeling softer, smoother and more glowing too. I have not got a lot of stretchmarks, but I have noticed that breakouts on especially my shoulders and back have reduced, so clearly the sugar, which contains naturally occurring AHA is having a positive effect on my skin, in removing clearing up my skin. I also love the fact that it is an Aussie brand, and that it is made with natural vegan friendly organic ingredients, without any of the nasties such as parabens or GMO. It is also so affordable that everyone can afford to try.

Bean Body Coconut Coffee Scrub - RRP: $6.95 / 50g, $10.95 / 100g, $19.95 / 220g

Available from Bean Body Australia and Bean Body Global, and select stockists, see websites for more details.

PRODUCT REVIEW: SAVE THE WATER WHILE USING ME

Today I'm going to introduce you to the coolest brand ever... Stop The Water While Using Me...

Yes, that's their name, Stop The Water While Using Me. Why...Water is the essence of all life and we have to protect this precious resource. We need it, yet it gets wasted by those who have 'enough', while in other parts of the world there are water shortages and drought. So the brand has been named Stop The Water While Using Me, to essentially encourages people to use water more intelligently and sustainably. And who's not guilty of for instance letting the water run in the shower as we soap up or wait for the conditioner to work. I'm certainly guilty. Food for thought..

Stop The Water While Using Me has a range of 100% natural bathroom products made in Germany, with all products made to the highest of quality, without chemical nasties such as synthetic ingredients, silicones, paraffins or mineral oils, but using only the highest of standards for certified natural cosmetics. And using fully recyclable packaging too, along with a percentage of the revenue donated to water aid projects to help provide fresh and clean water to areas where its needed the most. Pretty amazing right!

But let's talk about the products I've put to the test... First up is the cutest little
Stop The Water While Using Me Travel Kit, that comes in the coolest little paper cosmetic bag, containing;
  • All Natural Orange Wild Herbs Shower Gel, 60ml
  • All Natural Sesame Sage Body Lotion, 60ml
  • All Natural Lavender Sandalwood Regenerating Shampoo, 60ml
  • All Natural Lavender Sandalwood Regenerating Conditioner, 60ml

The
Stop The Water While Using Me Orange Wild Herbs Shower Gel has the most gorgeous sweet orange scent thanks to the added fragrant oil and organic orange blossom water, that helps give you a mild kick-start in the mornings. And the soft lather gently cleanses the skin, without drying it out, thanks to the added nourishing lipids.

Following with the
Stop The Water While Using Me Sesame Sage Body Lotion, this light lotion absorbs quick and easily into the skin, without any greasiness. It is made using healing sage and premium sesame oil combined with shea butter and organic jojoba and soya oils to add intense moisture to the skin, and leave it feeling soft and smooth. It has a slight spicy scent, which is a refreshing change from products which are often very sweet and girly, and that also makes it perfect for the man in the house too.

Moving on to the
Stop The Water While Using Me Lavender Sandalwood Regenerating Shampoo and Conditioner, which has a calming and relaxing effect thanks to the added lavender. It has a lovely warm scent from the lavender and sandal wood. It quickly and easily cleanses my hair without stripping it of its oils, while the conditioner is quickly absorbed into my long thick hair and once rinsed out, it is quick and easy to comb out and is left feeling so soft and looking shiny and healthy.

Finally, there's the
Stop The Water While Using Me Cucumber Lime Hand Balm, which is made using Vitamin-rich organic soybean oil and organic olive oil to leave hands soft, along with cucumber extract, rose flower water, shea butter and jojoba oil really moisturises the skin and strengthens its natural function. It has the most divine slightly sweet zesty lime scent which I really love, and it absorbs quickly and easily into the hands, immediately making them feel soft again.

This is such a great travel kit, perfect weekend away, or to put into your gym bag, containing absolutely everything you'll need.

In addition, I also put the Stop The Water While Using Me All Natural Lemon Honey Soap to the test, which is a fresh zesty hand soap, containing organic acacia honey contains enzymes and amino acids which strengthen and moisturise the skin, along with high vitamin C content and the fruit acid from the organically grown lemons to gently cleanse the hands and leave them feeling clean and soft, and gently scented.

Overall, I have to say that I really enjoy using these products from Stop The Water While Using Me and the fact that they support such a great cause too. They are beautiful to use, smell gorgeous, and I love the fact that the products are all natural and contain no nasties either. And probably needless to say, but their black and white packaging and branding is not just simple, it is also super stylish and modern and definitely less is more. They'll look amazing in any bathroom.

PRODUCT REVIEW: KATY PERRY INDI EDP - #WHATMAKESYOUINDI

Today its all about a newly launched fragrance, the Katy Perry’s INDI...

This new Katy Perry fragrance is all about embracing your individuality, and inspired by the one thing we all have in common: our individuality, about celebrating being different, together.

Katy Perry’s INDI is a musk fragrance that elevates the senses, and in fact it has been crafted using eleven different musks, and contain the following notes:

  • Top Notes: White Tea, Oriental Plum, Italian Bergamot
  • Middle Notes: Fresh Muguet, Cyclamen, White Cedar Wood
  • Base Notes: Amber Sultan, Vanilla Tonka, Seductive Musks

I admit that I am not usually one for too musky scents as can find them very overpowering and even at times giving me a headache. But surprisingly, considering all the different musks included in this fragrance, it is actually rather light. Perhaps it is the added note of plum and bergamot that still gives it a slight fruity scent, while the vanilla gives it a soft powdery feel.

that blend beautifully with top notes of oriental plum and Italian bergamot. The combination of fresh muguet and white cedar wood mingle with the velvety warmth of amber and vanilla in the background. Regardless, it is actually a very lovey scent, and as it is still very light, I can already tell that I'll find myself reaching for it again and again.

My only negative is that considering it is an eau de parfum, it is not very long lasting, and I do find that I have to reapply again in the middle of the day - but on the other hand, if it had been longer lasting, I would probably have complained that it would be to strong for my liking, so actually prefer it this way.

The INDI fragrance comes in a tall rectangular, monochromatic bottle, with a white glass bottle and black lid, which is so sleek and stylish, and instantly appeals to my minimalistic style and preference of clean simple lines, along with the black and white which is my favourite combination. The white bottle has Katy Perry's message “Put the U in Individual” embossed down two of the sides of the bottle, while the black lid has “KPINDI” running down two of the sides. This bottle may have 'a less is more', but in my opinion, it makes a huge impact, and looks stunning out on display.

For the fragrance launch, Katy Perry has teamed up with five influential bloggers to get them to explain what makes them indi, with their notes about diversity, and self-expression and community. And everyone can join in, as the campaign is open to all, encouraging everyone to draw on their own individual experiences of self-empowerment and growth by posting their #whatmakesyouINDI uploads here. And you can also join via social media using #WhatMakesYouINDI

But all in all a lovely fragrance that in my opinion is definitely worth sniffing out.

Katy Perry’s INDI Eau de Parfum - RRP: $39 / 30ml, $49 / 50ml, $69 / 100ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: BRAUN FACESPA BEAUTY EDITION 831

With troublesome skin, prone to breakouts, I rely on giving my skin a though clean daily - and needless to say, that as a girl, I am not fond of facial hairs either - so when I got the opportunity to put the new Braun FaceSpa Beauty Edition Facial Cleansing Brush and Epilator, to the test, I was naturally excited.

This Braun FaceSpa is a cool is a dual function device, which has inter-changeable facial cleansing brush and mini facial epilator head.

Let's start talking about the epilator part. I admit here that I do not really suffer with facial hair, and just not comfortable using it on my brows (they've been through enough over-plugging in their time) so apart from a small test to remove some of the fluffy fine hair on the side of my hair, I haven't thoroughly tested this one. But what I did try, it worked quickly and easily, and without any pain.

The epilator head is quite small, which helps give you maximum control and precision when removing hairs, and it is perfect for using on the chin, upper lip, forehead, on the hair line, or the eyebrows - and like when you're using an epilator on the rest of your body (I love using one on my legs), it removes hair with the root, (and not cutting them off at the skin, shavers using blades) so you'll be hair free for up to 4 weeks.

And as it has 10 micro-tweezers, it has 200 plucking motions per second, so you can shave a lot quicker, plus it can capture hairs as small as 0.02mm! And what I generally like about an epilator, is that when the hairs do eventually grow out again, they do not feel as 'stubbly' as they do when you've used a shaver with a blade.

Then there's the Sonic Facial Brush, which is a facial brush that promises to give your skin a deep clean. The brush is waterproof and can be used in the shower, which I love as I can use it while I wait for my conditioner to work. The Facial Brush has soft brush head, and it promises to clean the skin 6x better than manual cleansing, thanks to hundreds of micro-oscilliations, which helps remove makeup and impurities from deep down every pore, while also refining and gently exfoliating the skin, all without irritating the skin.

I generally prefer to remove my makeup first, and use the brush as a second cleanse, using it with a gentle facial cleanser, for that extra deep clean, and to make sure that every last trace of makeup is gone. And Since using it, I have noticed that my skin is not only looking fresher and softer, it is also brighter and more glowing, as well as I am convinced I haven't had as many breakouts as I usually do.

The actual holder that is used for both the epilator head and the facial cleansing brush, has a simple design that is lightweight and easy to operate and hold. I would have preferred if it had been rechargeable, but being battery operated, along with its small size does make it ideal if you're travelling. It has two speeds (for both epilator and brush), though I find it slightly tricky to find out which one is slower and which is faster.

The epilator part comes with a cute rose-gold lid, and it would have been a welcome addition, especially for travelling purposes, if there had also been a lid for the brush attachment. In addition the kit also comes with a cute little lighted morrow and a gorgeous white cosmetic pouch that you can use for storage.

All in all a great and very nifty multi-tasking tool, at a very reasonable price.

PRODUCT REVIEW: DERMALOGICA PRECLEANSE BALM

Who doesn't love Dermalogica - I do, and have so many favourites ranging from the Microfoliant to PreCleanse, so I'm very excited to be sharing with you the newest launch, the Dermalogica PreCleanse Balm..

This new Dermalogica PreCleanse Balm is a deep-cleaner that helps melts away impurities and make-up from skin, to help achieve cleaner, healthier-looking skin. It is the first step in a double cleanse regimen.

The PreCleanse Balm is a water-activated, balm-to-oil version of the best-selling oil cleanser, and it helps deconstruct the layers of excess sebum, and the most stubborn of long-wearing makeup, and it is so gentle that you can use it to remove even waterproof mascara too. And all while the Natural Biolipid Complex helps lock in hydration and reinforces the skin barrier while apricot kernel oil helps to nourish the skin.

The PreCleanse Balm comes with a cool grey double sided silicone mitt that fits perfectly onto the hand. It has small bristles on one side, and slightly bigger ones on the other - in some way, it kind of reminds me of my Foreo. And I have to say that I love this mitt, such a great inclusion.

To use, you start by massaging massaging small amount of the PreCleanse Balm into the dry face and massage it into the skin with the included Cleansing Mitt, on the small bristle side, to loosen up and remove makeup, dirty and impurities, while giving the skin a mild exfoliation and an extra deep clean. It is quite thick, but quickly 'melts' with the warmth of your fingers and face. You then wet your hands and massage the skin to emulsify it and create a milky solution to further activate the product before rinsing it off. When done, you follow with your usual cleanser for a thorough cleanse deep down every pore.

This PreCleanse Balm is suitable for normal to dry skin types, while the original PreCleanse Oil is best for normal to oily skin types. I have combination skin, and have to say that right now while its still cold, and my skin tends to be a little drier, I actually prefer this new balm version. I guess I also find that it's less 'messy' and I can better control the amount of product that I dispense, so there is no wastage, which there sometimes can be with the oil. It is super gentle, and super efficient. I'm in love!!

Dermalogica PreCleanse Balm - RRP: $65.00 / 90ml

Available from Dermalogica, Activeskin, Adore Beauty, Facial Co, Hello Skinsmart, Skincare Store and David Jones

PRODUCT REVIEW: ZOELLA JELLY & GELATO

One of those brands I've seen and heard beauty bloggers and editors rave about for months and months now is Zoella Beauty. I am clearly way behind as I had not had a chance to try out any of the products, so when a parcel with some of the products from the newest range, Zoella Jelly & Gelato landed on my desk, I couldn't help but get very excited. Also as it was without a doubt the cutest PR delivery that I've received in a very long time... I mean, just how adorable is that little deck chair, and the card with the pop out ice cream van, and of course those adorable pasted coloured products!

Not heard of Zoella before, don't worry, it took me a while to catch you too. But in short, she's considered internet royalty as a UK beauty blogger having over 11 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, and so popular that she apparently has been named the most powerful beauty vlogger by Forbes Magazine!! In addition, she has also written several books, has a lifestyle range and a beauty range... Oh, and her very own waxwork in Madame Tussauds. Her newest range is called Jelly and Gelato, and these are the products I've been putting to the test;

  • Zoella Shower Sauce Body Wash
  • Zoella Shower Shake Moisturising Body Wash
  • Zoella Pink Bath Wafers Moisturising Bath Fizzer
  • Zoella Gelat'Eau Body Mist

But I didn't even need to open the products to smell their gorgeous scent, as their fresh fruity and slightly sweet scent immediately filled my whole family room. The range features notes of elderflower, pomegranate and double cream. Just divine, and along with the cute pastel pink, and retro looking packaging, these products really are super cute and girlie, and also the perfect products to give you that summery feel.

The Zoella Shower Sauce Body Wash that has a slightly runny jelly consistency, in a transparent pink colour. You're are to drizzle it over your body, like you would drizzle sauce over your ice cream and gelato, and lather it up, before rinsing it up. It has a lovely soft lather and gently cleanses the skin without drying it out, leaving it soft and with the gorgeous scent lingering behind. It does not appear to have any additional moistursing benefits, and I do feel I need to apply a moisturiser afterwards on my winter dry skin.

But my favourite scented body wash would have to be the Zoella Shower Shake Moisturising Body Wash, which has the same scent, but which is a creamy moisturising wash. It lathers up to a soft foam and smells just gorgeous, and leaves the skin feeling soft and with beautiful scent lingering on the skin. And you of course cannot help by fall in love with the cute which is made to look like a glass of milkshake complete with a straw. Just too gorgeous.

Then there's the Zoella Pink Bath Wafers Moisturising Bath Fizzer, which I have to be honest and admit that I am yet to try, basically as I simply have not had the time with two sick little kids to take a bath! But these are like a moisturising bath bomb, only they are designed to look like a cute ice cream wafer, and rumour has it that they turn your bath water a gorgeous pink colour and makes it smell so divine. I so need to find time for a bath, pronto!

Finally, there's the Zoella Gelat'Eau Body Mist, which comes in such a beautiful bottle with its pastel coloured design. Like the rest of the range, it has notes of elderflower and fruity pomegranate, and it is just such as fresh and fruity and slightly sweet scent that is absolutely perfect for spring and summer, yet without being too sweet or overpowering. Just the perfect scent to use as an everyday scent. It is a body mist, which tends to meant that it wears off rather quickly, but surprisingly this one seems to last for quite a while on the skin. The perfect scent if you'd like to wear a perfume, but still want something subtle, I therefore also feel that its perfectly suited to younger teenagers. Oh and cute is the name, Gelat'Eau, such a clever play on words.

Zoella Shower Sauce Body Wash - RRP: $11.99 / 160ml
Zoella Shower Shake Moisturising Body Wash - RRP: $8.99 / 250ml
Zoella Pink Bath Wafers Moisturising Bath Fizzer - RRP: $9.99 / 200g
Zoella Gelat'Eau Body Mist - RRP: $19.99 / 45ml

JELLY BELLY JELLY BEAN PINATA CAKE

Who doesn't love jelly beans. I know that we do in our house, young and old! And if you ask me, the best of the best are without a doubt Jelly Belly Jelly Beans. The Jelly Belly Jelly Beans are the original gourmet Jelly Bean, and there are more different delicious flavours than you can count. Flavours that you can eat and enjoy on their own, or you can create your own magical taste combination.

But what you may not have thought about, is that Jelly Belly is also perfect for parties - and on their website they have so many cool ideas of things you can make with the Jelly Beans, from Snack Mix, Movie Popcorn, Cupcakes, Fudge.. Or the best decorated cakes you can imagine, with only your imagination being the limit. But thankfully Jelly Belly has heaps of ideas and inspiration too on how you can use them to decorate cakes according to party themes.

One of the coolest creations is the Jelly Belly Pinata Cake... Jelly Belly showed their creation, which I admit looks incredible, and you can find the recipe below if you want to recreate it like them. It is a very big cake, serving 10+, but with no birthdays coming up, there is simply a limit to how much my husband and I and our two little boys, aged 2 and 4 can eat.. So we consequently attempted our own smaller version..

To make this cake, we only used one single sponge cake, and we used a chocolate sponge cake, everyone favourite. We then cut out a whole in the centre of the cake, while leaving the top part of the cake intact. Hereafter we filled the hole with as many Jelly Belly's as we could possibly fit in, before putting on the icing. We didn't use buttered icing, but standard icing sugar, with a bit of red colour and raspberry flavour.

I had promised our little boys that they could help decorate the cake with the Jelly Belly's, but the wait for the icing sugar to dry got the better them, and they just couldn't wait - so the still very wet icing sugar did mean that the cake, looks-wise unfortunately didn't turn to be competition worthy, but our boys had such a blast decorating it, and eating the odd (ok many!!) jelly beans as they went along. They were so proud of their masterpiece that they just couldn't wait for daddy to come how so they could show him. And of course they thought it was the most delicious cake they'd ever tasted.

This is seriously such a great idea, and this Pinata Cake would no doubt be a massive hit at any kids party! And it is so easy to do.

Our 4 year old's creation...

And here's how the original Jelly Belly Jelly Bean Pinata Cake looked.. :-)

And here's how you make it..
Serves 10 - Prep time 20 minutes, plus 1 hour freezing time

Ingredients

  • 500g butter, softened at room temperature
  • 5 cups pure icing sugar
  • 2 x plain sponge cakes
  • Blue food colour
  • 200g white chocolate, melted
  • Jelly Belly Jewel Beans to decorate

Method
  1. Using an electric mixer beat butter until light and creamy. Add icing sugar and beat until combined. Add drops of desired colour, a few at a time and mix well.
  2. Using a 6.5cm round cutter make a hole in the center of 3 sponge cakes. Reserving one sponge hole for the top.
  3. Place cakes onto a serving platter and freeze for 1 hour until firm.
  4. Remove from freezer. Spread one cake with a little icing, top with a second cake. Repeat with remaining cake. Fill the center with Jelly Belly jelly beans and replace sponge hole to level the sponge cake in the last layer. Ice the top and sides of the cake and decorate with Jelly Belly jelly beans.
  5. Place white chocolate into a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Stir till smooth, set aside for 10 minutes to cool slightly.
  6. Decorate the top and sides with Jelly Belly jelly beans.

Jelly Belly used 3 sponges, but if you want a higher cake then use all 4 sponges. Freeze the 4th sponge cake for later use.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LYCOGEL BREATHABLE CAMOUFLAGE AND CONCEALER

As a beauty addict, nothing excites me more than coming across new brands, so today I am excited to be talking about Lycogel® - a very unique high-tech brand that combines breathable colour corrective cosmetic treatment with skincare technology to promote the healing of damaged or post-procedural skin offering an immediate solution. I put a few products to the test, including the Lycogel Breathable Camouflage and the Breathable Concealer.

Mineral make-up is usually seen as a healthier choice of makeup, but while it 'just' sits on the surface of the skin Lycogel on the other hand, contains 12 active ingredients (Lyco Complex) that delivers oxygen, moisture and nutrients to the skin. These active ingredients help support skin condition and help the healing process. Lyco Complex active ingredients are delivered to the skin by the Designer Gel Base, a breathable base that is specially formulated to deliver each and every one of the LYCO-Complex’s 12 active ingredients to the skin for maximum benefits. This carefully balanced set of 12 active ingredients work together to deliver oxygen, moisture, and nutrients to the skin including hyaluronic acid, anti-oxidants and peptides, with some of these benefits;

  • Adding oxygen helps the skin recover from burns and other wound, as well as it helps improve the skin by renewing cells, stimulating collagen and elastin, minimising lines, while soothing the skin and making it look more vibrant.
  • Moisture is essential for the skin to help its defence mechanism and reduces trans-epidermal water loss, while protecting it from everyday irritants like air-conditioning, pollution and dry air that damages the skin.
  • Nutrients keep our skin alive and active. Nutrients provide energy, repair tissue, and regulate all natural processes in the skin regardless of the skin condition.
  • The added nutrients, on the other hand, helps protects the longevity of stem cells, promotes skin repair, unleashes anti-aging properties, prevents excessive scar formation, while adding essential antioxidants to the skin.

There are several products in the range, which are all suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and those trying to cover eczema, blemishes, rosacea and other skin conditions, and can also be used immediately after cosmetic procedures. And as the products are anti-bacterial and do not clog up pores, they are luckily also suitable for my combination skin prone to blemishes. Now, let's get onto the products..

Starting with the Lycogel Breathable Camouflage, which is a foundation that promises a buildable coverage with a matte finish. This foundation has a slightly thick consistency, and it does take a little longer to apply - I've tried a few different techniques from sponges to foundation brushes, but actually find that I get the best result using my fingers to pat it into my skin. In spite of it being thick, a single pump is more than sufficient to cover the whole face, though you can apply additional coats for better coverage if you like, just making sure that the first layer is fully absorbed first. Personally, I find that one coat is sufficient, and that this easily covers my increasing pigmentation, redness and marks and scarring from past acne, as well as bag under my eyes, and on the few spots where I feel I need a little more, I simply use the concealer.

And as promised, it has a lovely matte finish, yet one that is far from dull, but rather it leaves the skin with a nice radiant glow. In spite of this foundation being a bit thick, it is surprisingly light on the skin and you can seriously not feel you're wearing it, as well as it is looking very natural on the skin too.

With combination skin, I am used to foundations not lasting log on my skin, but this one stays put on my skin all day without needing too much of a touch up, apart from the t-zone area, but that’s pretty standard. I also love the fact that it has SPF30 so I know my skin is protected from the sun’s harsh rays.

I love that it comes in a pump bottle which makes it both hygienic as well as so easy to use. It is a little pricey, also considering you only get 20ml (as opposed to most other foundations which are 30ml), but this is seriously good stuff, that completely takes foundation to a whole new level, so totally worth it, plus its so concentrated that I find that I use less than with any other foundation.

To cover dark under eyes circles, and those larger areas of pigmentation, age spots, redness and blemishes, the Lycogel Breathable Concealer is a seriously perfect addition adding that extra coverage. It promises maximum coverage while still looking natural, and it really does deliver, easily covering those imperfections, yet without looking like it has been caked on. It is also very concentrated, so you only need the smallest amount, though like the Camouflage Foundation, you can add additional coats where needed. It comes in a tiny tube, but again, as it is so concentrated, you again only need the tiniest amount.

As my skin has sadly got a lot of imperfections due to years of breakouts and acne, and now as age sets in, increasing pigmentation too, so these products really are a perfect fit, and I am enjoying how they easily cover up these imperfections whist giving my skin a very natural look and treating it at the same time. Highly recommended.

Lycogel Breathable Camouflage - RRP: $108/20ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: JUDITH WILLIAMS COSMETICS FROM TVSN

As a beauty blogger, I love nothing more than when I come across new brands - and one such brand is Judith Williams Cosmetics, which is now available through TVSN

Now, you may ask who is Judith Williams, so did I! But let me quickly tell you what I discovered in my research.
Judith Williams is from Munich, Germany, where she has had her own beauty institute. From here, she also has her own innovative skincare products developed in closely cooperation with dermatologists. And quickly she is said to have earned a reputation of setting new standards for skincare. The skincare products are made using high-quality active ingredients, and the fact that many of the ingredients are exclusive to her products, means that her products are very unique. And while the quality of the products are essential, they do their best to keep them affordable too.
I have put a selection of products to the test from the Judith Williams Future Skin Stem Cell Science range, including;
  • Rich Cleansing Cream
  • 24h Face Cream
  • Concentrated Eye Cream

As well as I've also tested the;

  • Superior Concentrate Retinol

The Judith Williams Future Skin Stem Cell Science contains plant stem cell, which are recognised for their powerful anti-ageing benefits. When the plant stem cells are harvested they are able to continually self renew. The strength of 4 plant stem cell complexes, combined in the innovative stem cell complex are revitalising and energising for the skin.
Each plant stem cell includes the highly concentrated power and strength of the plant that it derives from, for protection against pollution, regaining youth and revitalisation. The included stem cells include:

  • Plantago Lanceolata (plantain) stem cell to support skin elasticity
  • Malus Domestica (apple) stem cell to support the skin's stem cells
  • Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) to support density of the skin
  • Syringa Vulgaris (lilac) to support the skin's barrier

In short, these ingredients along with the NeuroBotumix5 Plus complex helps give the skin intense stimulation of cell regeneration and the visible revitalisation of the complexion, invigorating tired skin cells and restore their strength and energy. All sounds pretty amazing to me!
Now, let's talk about the products..

First up there is the Judith Williams Future Skin Stem Cell Science Rich Cleansing Cream. This creamy cleanser has such a lovely scent, and feels so lovely on the skin. It does remove my makeup - it is recommended to avoid contact with eyes, and as its fragranced and my eyes rather sensitive, I haven't even tried it on my eye makeup, but personally I prefer to use a specific eye makeup remover anyway. However, although it does remove makeup quite well, I actually prefer to remove my makeup first, and then use this as a second cleanse, so that my skin can make full use of the plant stem cells, which promises to provide a strengthened and protected skin complexion. The cleanser can be used morning and evening, massaged onto damp skin where it lathers off to a soft foam that is easily rinsed off with water, and afterwards my skin is left feeling incredibly soft and smooth.

I've then been using the Judith Williams Beauty Institute Superior Concentrate Retinol in the prior to my usual moisutriser. This facial concentrate serum comes in a brown glass bottle wit a dropper, and at first glance it looks almost identical to one of my all time favourite anti-ageing serums, the Advanced Night Repair by Estee Lauder. The actual Superior Concentrate Retinol, is a bit different though, as it is has a super light milky white lotion consistency, that absorbs immediately into the skin without any stickiness or greasiness, to the point you almost wouldn't know its there - except it leaves the skin feeling so silky soft and smooth.
The Judith Superior Concentrate Retinol is a simulative concentrate with the highly active Retinol Complex, which promises to help boost the collagen levels of the skin, with the skin elasticity and bounce strengthened and pigmentation is reduced visibly. It also helps reduce the appearance of small wrinkles and leave the complexion more even and flawless. I am really loving the feel of this concentrate on my skin, and love integrating it into my skincare routine.

I have also been using the Judith Williams Future Skin Stem Cell Science 24 Hour Face Cream, both morning and evening. Along with the plant stem cells, this cream also contains NeuroBotumix5 Plus Complex, which promises an intensive stimulation of cell activity and regeneration, supporting supports natural collagen synthesis and improving the skin’s elasticity. Often intense anti-ageing creams are too intense and rich for my breakout prone combination skin, quickly making it feel greasier and more congested, but thankfully that is not the case with this face cream. In fact, it is surprisingly light, and again absorbs quickly into my skin, and also forms the perfect base for makeup during the day. It has a beautiful floral scent you can only love, and leaves my skin not only thoroughly hydrated, velvety soft and smooth, but also with a gorgeous radiant sheen.

Finally, I have also been using the Judith Williams Future Skin Stem Cell Science Eye Cream. This rich eye cream contains the same plant stem cells along with smoothing and moisturising agents that help provide intense care for the delicate skin around the eyes, to stimulate the formation of cells, strengthen the skin and visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The eye cream comes in a long tube and has a little spatula applicator at the end of the tube nozzle to help apply it, but I must admit that I prefer to apply it with my fingers. The actual cream is quite rich and does take a few moments absorb into the skin, but its worth the wait, as it again leaves the skin clearly intensely hydrated and left soft and smooth.
So what's my verdict on these products from Judith Williams. After using the products for a few weeks, I can definitely clearly see that my skin feels and looks plumper and consequently that some of those fine lines are minimised in size. I also feel that my skin looks healthier and my complexion radiant and my complexion generally more well-rested and glowing. I am not sure that I can tell any difference yet in my skin tone, but you also cannot expect year of pigmentation build-up to vanish overnight.

If I had to pick a favourite from the products I've tried, it would have to be the Superior Concentrate Retinol, as it simply makes my skin feel and look great, and its so easily integrated into my existing routine. That said, I also enjoy using the rest of the products. The cleanser is great as a second cleanse, treating the skin. And the 24H Face Cream and the eye cream are clearly giving my skin a much needed moisture boost, plumping up my skin, and generally makes it look more rested and glowing too.
The products are definitely of a very high quality and very efficient and definitely worth a try if you're serious about anti-ageing.
