PRODUCT REVIEW: RIMMEL LONDON WONDER'FULL MASCARA

The one makeup product I cannot live without is no doubt a mascara, so when I was asked to trial the new Rimmel London Wonder'Full Mascara*, I happily accepted, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:
Rimmel London Wonder'full Mascara With Argan Oil adheres to lashes and dries quickly, leaving them looking thicker and more defined. The soft, flexible bristles hug and coat each individual lash from root to tip to add volume and definition. Argan oil works to soften and condition lashes.

RRP: $17.95 – Available from Priceline, Variety Stores and select Pharmacies

What I Say:
Argan Oil is one of those ingredients that have suddenly emerged as a wonder ingredient in beauty products, but in particular in haircare products, and I among others have taken a liking to using the oil in my dry hair, so I was very intrigued when heard of this mascara containing the oil as well.

The mascara claims to care, soften and condition for your lashes with the argan oil, while you wear the mascara. And true to its claims the mascara really does, unlike most other mascaras, leave the lashes soft and with a nice flexibility. But in saying that, I cannot say that I’ve noticed any difference in the condition of my lashes after using this mascara for a few weeks, but they were also in a pretty good condition beforehand (probably because as a stay-at-home mum I do have several days a week where I go completely makeup free) and my lashes hence get a much needed break!

One coat of mascara adds a nice glossy colour to my lashes, and gives them a nice decent length and adds some volume, while another coat or two does make them appear a lot more lengthy and voluminous, while separating my lashes nicely and without making them clump together. However, I wouldn’t go as far as saying that it makes my lashes ‘Wonder'Full’ – and certainly not as much hence I find that this mascara is best suited for a casual everyday look and not so much for a more dramatic night-time look.

The mascara comes in a lovely, but slightly bulky bronze-gold packaging, and the rounded brush features soft silicone bristles that does make it easy to get to even the smallest of lashes. In spite of not being waterproof, the mascara stays put all day, even when my sensitive eyes water.

Overall this is a lovely mascara, perfect for daily everyday wear, and I do love that it is a multi-tasking product combines skincare to care for your lashes as you wear it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: WRINKLES SCHMINKLES CHEST SMOOTHING KIT

Today I’d like introduce you to a wrinkle product that is like no other I have ever tried, the Wrinkles Schimikles Silicone Chest Décolleté Pads *;

What They Say:

You can’t stop time but you can slow it down with our Wrinkles Schminkles Silicone Chest Décolleté Pads. Your chest wrinkles and décolleté and décolletage wrinkles can be caused by sleeping on your side, ageing and sun damage. Our clear, Silicone Chest Wrinkle Pads – worn while you sleep (because we know you’ve got more important things to do when you’re awake) – are the perfect non-invasive chest wrinkles treatment and work effectively to smooth out your chest, cleavage, décolleté and décolletage wrinkles - leaving you feeling and looking younger and full of confidence. Apply to your delicate chest area, and it’ll work while you sleep to relieve and visibly soften wrinkles, so you wake up looking refreshed and ready to start each day with confidence.

RRP: $35.95 – Available from
Wrinkles Schminkles

What I Say:
So what is Wrinkles Schminkles – well in short it is a silicone pad that you apply to your skin while you sleep to help minimise both existing wrinkles as well as new ones from forming.

So how is that possible…

The Wrinkles Schminkles Silicone chest pad is shaped almost like a heart, and you apply it at night before bedtime to clean and dry skin that is also free from moisturiser.

The silicone pad sticks to the skin with adhesive silicone, and the pad keeps the skin in place so the skin basically cannot crease up and cause wrinkles to form! In addition, silicone naturally creates moisture in the skin to plump out and soften existing wrinkles. It also helps to stimulate collagen that among others help prevent and reduce scarring.

The Wrinkles Schminkles are quite easy to apply, and once on the skin and the initial cool sensation from the silicone has passed, it feels comfortable and you wouldn’t even know it is there. The pads are said to be especially good for side-sleepers, as sleeping on the side does make the skin sag – so in other words, also perfect for me while pregnant, and forced to sleep on my sides for the next many months (oh how I miss being able to sleep on my back or even tummy!)

When you wake in the morning you simply peel it off the skin and put it back onto its plastic sheet, and the next night you use it again, and again, and again… they are said to start to lose their adhesiveness after 20-30 uses, but if you use the special Wrinkles Schminkles Cleaning Solution you bring back the adhesiveness and continue to reuse them over and over again!

So how did they perform? Well, I do (sadly) have some chest wrinkles, caused both by ageing, and from sun damage, but I cannot really speak for the scarring as I don’t believe I have any on the chest area. And I only used the pads for about 10 days or so, and then admit that I kind of forgot a few nights as I was simply too over-tired to remember! (try being pregnant, suffering with morning sickness and dealing with a toddler that wakes numerous times during the night) – and when I tried again, the pads had last their stickiness, possibly because I had been using them during some very hot (record hot, I believe) nights, which may be the reason.

However, in spite of the short use I find that when I woke in the morning, my décolleté area in general looked more relaxed than when not using the pads. I generally mark very easy, and most mornings I wake with marks on my face and body from where the sheets or my pillow has been folded and creased, and the same is the case with my face and décolleté as well, and sometimes it takes a good 30+ minutes for my skin to ‘fil out’ again. But when using pads, the skin simply looked more fresh and certainly very moisturised and plum, and that in spite of not applying my usual night cream on the décolleté area, and there were none of these crease wrinkles in sight either. Sadly my permanent wrinkles and lines didn’t disappear, but to be honest, I also didn’t expect that to happen, that would be too good to be true!!

However, all in all I am quite impressed with the results and would certainly consider purchasing the Wrinkles Schminkles Cleaning Solution so I can continue to use the pad over and over again, as well as I’d be keen to find out how the other products in the range, including the Chest Smoothing Kit, Neck Smoothing Kit, Mouth Smoothing Kit and Forehead and Eye Smoothing Kit would perform.

PRODUCT REVIEW: AVON MEGA EFFECTS MASCARA

Today I’d like to share with you a mascara that is different to any others that you’ve ever seen before, the Avon Mega Effects Mascara*;

What They Say:

Innovative, ergonomical design fits the curve of your eye, coating every lash from root to tip for 40% more mascara to lash. Knock out volume makes your lashes look darker, denser and more dramatic for a clump-proof, non-flaking and non-smudging look. It’s changing the face of makeup, one lash at a time.

RRP: $19.99 (9g) – Available from
Avon

What I Say:
This mascara is completely different to any mascara I’ve ever tried before. In fact, if you didn’t know, before opening it, you wouldn’t even know that it is a mascara.

The mascara has an ergonomic and adjustable mascara applicator designed to fit the curve of the eye, coating every lash from root to tip. The special Comb-Thru bristles capture even the smallest lashes, and consequently promising 40% more mascara to the lashes.

The mascara has been 6 years in the making, and the special ‘head’ can be bend in 12 different angles to reach and coat all lashes perfectly.

It does take a little while to master how to use the mascara – and actually, even opening it for the first time took a bit of pondering as I was wondering how to open it without breaking it. But once I mastered how to open and use the mascara, it really wasn’t that tricky at all. And I did quickly start loving the wide brush that quickly and easily coats every single last without clumping, and I also love how it makes it easy to coat the lashes so close to the lash line. It gives the lashes some nice definition and certainly also volume, but I am not sure that it provides ‘40% more mascara’ on my lashes as promised, and I would have loved some more length and also curl.

The mascara is not waterproof, but it is claimed to be sweat-proof, non-flaking and non-smudging, and I do find that it stays put nicely throughout the day, although it does smear a little when my eyes run (I have very sensitive eyes that easily water) and I rub my eyes!

Overall it is a very different mascara and I really like how the brush coats my lashes and the volume it gives them, although I wouldn’t quite call it ‘dramatic’ as claimed. But It is perfect for an everyday mascara. I think it is one of those mascaras that you will either love or hate, you just have to try it for yourself, and you just never know, it may just be your new favourite. I certainly appreciate having tried it, and applaud Avon for coming up with a new concept to an old makeup staple.

INDUSTRY NEWS: L'OREAL PARIS NEW PRODUCT RELEASES

Today I thought that I’d share with you some recent product releases from L’Oreal Paris..

L’Oréal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga

This mascara is different to any other mascara that I’ve ever used, thanks to its 360° brush that has a wide base captures the longer upper lashes and a conical tip captures the shorter lower lashes.

The brush is also has a The ‘flexor’ system in the stem makes the brush ultra-flexible – which does take a little getting used to, but once you’ve mastered it, it is easy to cover every single lash from root to tip, and achieve that intense black look with serious volumised lashes. In fact, the mascara as a special formula that contains a trilogy of polymers that creates ultra-resistant meshing and absolute hold, combined with Collagen spheres with enlarging power which create volume mechanically, promising 15 times more impact.

I am unsure about the 15 times more impact, but I can confirm that it definitely provides glossy black lashes so volumuous that it looks like you’re wearing false lashes, which is not a bad effort for a mascara!

RRP: $19.95 – Available from February 2015, from selected pharmacies, variety and department stores.

L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plumper

This is literally a mascara for the brows. It contains a tinted fibre gel that quickly and easily helps build volume and fill in thin brows for a thicker brow look.

And thanks to the tiny brush with the precision tip, it is easy to shape the brows into a natural looking finish. It is available in two shades (as well as a transparent), and the darker shade, Medium/Dark is perfect for my dark brows.

It is so quick and easy to use, and I love that you can apply multiple coats for an more voluminous effect, and that it is a gel formula that keeps your brows in place all day at the same time.

RRP: $18.95 - Available from selected pharmacies, variety and department stores.

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Mono Eyeshadows

These mono shadows have an incredible colour pay-off. They are made from a new gel-inside technology, combining 40% powerfully pigmented powders with 60% crystal clear gel, that gives them a lovely creamy texture that is so easy to apply and blend, with everything from just a sheer wash of colour to the most intense look that lasts all day, without fading, creasing, or dropping!! The range is available in nine shades a combination of matte and illuminating shades, and I tried the shades Noir C’est Noir, which is a matte dark charcoal/black, as well as the Café Saint Germain which is a nude medium beige shade with a nice sheen. I have already got my eyes on a couple of the other shades in the collection as they are just so amazing to work with!

BRAND FOCUS: BOE PROFESSIONAL

Today I would like to put focus on a relatively new Australian Brand, BOE Professional. BOE Cosmetics has been around for a while, selling makeup at the variety store Big W for a meagre $2 – and well recently, the company launched a more up-market range, called BOE Professional*, here are my thoughts;

BOE Professional Base Primer

 With combination skin I rely on a good primer when I want my makeup to last. The BOE Professional Base Primer has white creamy texture, and containing squalene, sweet almond oil and aloe vera, it hydrates and conditions the skin at the same time as it helps make your makeup stay looking nicer for longer. It is very lightweight and leaves a nice feel on the skin. Worn after moisturiser but before foundation, the Primer helps to absorb any excess oil in the skin, while also blurring the appearance of blemishes and imperfections so that your makeup applies not only more easily, but you also end up with a more even and flawless. RRP: $9.95 (25ml) – Available from Big W

BOE Professional BB Cream and Concealer

This is a true multi-tasking product, as a BB Cream with a built-in Concealer in the cap, and it even has a small mirror too! Absolutely brilliant! The BB Cream contains among others aloe vera, vitamin E, shea butter and vitamin E and helps hydrate and condition the skin. It gives the skin a medium coverage, while still leaving the skin with a nice natural finish and a lovely glow.

And while you can still build up the coverage by adding a touch more, I still feel that it is not fully covering larger areas of redness, pigmentation, blemishes or bags under my eyes, and that’s where the in-build concealer comes in handy. The Concealer is very creamy , and has a great coverage, picking up where the BB Cream stopped. Both lasts well on the skin throughout the day, although my skin does get a bit shiny by midday, but that’s where the Finishing Powder comes to the rescue! RRP: $12.95 (35ml)/ (1.2g) – Available from Big W

BOE Professional High Definition Finishing Powder

Having combination skin I always struggle to get my makeup to stay put, and in particularly during summer, so I love transparent setting powders. This powder is super-fine and finishes your makeup, mattifying your skin and absorbing surface oil, and hence extending the life of your makeup, making your skin look shine-free for longer – and instead leaves you with a nice demi-matte look. And as the powder is translucent it doesn’t add any extra coverage, so it is perfect to use on top of all types of foundation from tinted moisturisers, BB creams and even full coverage foundations, or even on bare skin! It comes in a clear plastic jar with a black lid, and is best applied with a large powder brush. RRP: $9.95 (15g) – Available from Big W

BOE Professional Radiant Face Illuminator

With a teething toddler I rarely get a good nights sleep these days, and that’s where using a highlighter can make all the difference. The Radiant Face Illuminator has a creamy texture and the beige-white pearlescent tint gives dull skin a nice luminous and radiant glow, without making it too over the top shimmery. You can use it on its own, or you can mix it into your usual foundation, and apply too your cheekbones, cupids bow and anywhere else you’d like to highlight. It is very concentrated, so you only need to use a little, so the tube will last you forever. RRP: $9.95 (25ml) – Available from Big W

BOE Professional Big Kiss Lip Gloss

Big Kiss Lipgloss in shades Manhattan and Crystelle

This lip gloss has a larger than normal wand applicator, that you at first think surely is too big, but it makes it surprisingly easy to apply the gloss to your lips. The lipgloss has a nice consistency and adds intense colour to the lips with a nice shine, and it has a reasonable wear of a few hours, although you do have to reapply after eating.

Big Kiss Lipgloss in shades Manhattan and Crystelle

The lipgloss feels so lovely and moisturising on the lips thanks to containing vitamin E and jojoba oil, and even after the lipgloss has worn off, your lips are left feeling nourished and soft. Available in four shades. . RRP: $6.95 (15ml) – Available from Big W

BOE Professional Perfect Pout Lip Cream

Perfect Pout Lip Cream in shade Divine

The lip cream is almost like a lipstick in a tube form, that also comes with a foot doe applicator. It is soft and creamy, and leaves a nice colour on the lips, which you can both build up or apply more sheer, depending on preference, all while leaving your lips with a semi-matte finish. The lip cream lasts fairly well on the lips, (although now as well as the Big Kiss Lipgloss) and it contains vitamin E, so again, it feels lovely and moisturising on the lips. Available in four shades. RRP: $6.95 (15ml) – Available from Big W

Overall, I really like these products from BOE Professional, and I am surprised at their high quality considering their affordable prices. Of the products I tried, the stand-outs were the definitely the Finishing Powder, the BB Cream and Concealer and the Big Kiss Lipgloss, although I would not hesitate to repurchase any of the products again – as well as I plan to check out the rest of the range when I am next near a Big W store, I especially got my eyes on the Eye Bright Pen, the Blush Duo, the Full Coverage Concealer, and the Eyeshadow Quads..

Have you tried any of the products from the BOE Professional range? What did you think of the products?

TREE OF A KIND: LIPGLOSSES

It’s been a little while since I’ve done one of my Three of a Kind posts, so I thought it was time to the first one for 2015, starting with three different kinds of Lipglosses available for all budgets;

MUD Mango Lipgloss

This cute little pot of Lipgloss from MUD come in a range of flavours/scents including Mango, Cherry and Grape, and although it looks peach tinted in the pot, it goes on clear, leaving the lips with a nice sheen. It doesn’t last long on the lips, and you certainly need to reapply after eating and drinking, but at just $2.00 per pot, these lipglosses are just too cute to resist!

RRP: $2.00 (6.5g) – Available from Woolworths

Lanolips 101 Ointment Fruities

I have previously raved about the Lanolips 101 Ointments (see my post here), as an ointment suitable for all types of uses including dry hands, cuticles and of course extremely dry lips too. These new Lanolips 101 Fruities contain the usual medical grade lanolin, vitamin E as well as natural fruit extracts. There are three 100% natural flavours; Strawberry, Peach and Apple. The Strawberry contains alpha-hydroxy acids from the fruit, and this helps us slough off dead cells so that new, healthy skin is revealed. The Peach one contains Peach kernel oil that sinks into the skin easily & helps revive with a combination of vitamins & polyunsaturated fatty acid, while the apple is one is acidic, and vitamins and antioxidants, acting as natural environmental protection. All of flavours go. on clear, leaving the lips feeling soft and moisturised for hours, and with that lovely natural flavour lingering.

RRP: $13.95 (10g) – Available from Mecca Maxima

Jurlique Hydra Gloss

These lip glosses from Jurlique are extremely nourishing for the lips containing Nutri-Oil Complex and rich in Vitamin E to protect and soothe dry lips. The lip glosses are available in two shades, I’m Blushing and I’m Neutral, both of which gives the lips a lovely wash of sheer colour, while leaving the lips with a nice gloss finish and feeling soft and smooth. They can be used both on their own as well as over any lipstick for additional shine. The lip glosses are free from parabens, PEG’s and artificial fragrances, but have a lovely mild minty scent and a lovely cooling sensation on the lips that I really like. They last quite well, although needing to be reapplied after eating and drinking, but the soft and moisturised lips you’ll keep for hours!

RRP: $22 (10ml) – Available from Jurlique
*Product was kindly provided for consideration, and has reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.

So there you go, three different types of lipglosses, all at different price points.

Have you tried any of these lip glosses? Fan of Jurlique, Lanolips or MUD? Can you recommend any lip glosses?

PRODUCT REVIEW: MEDIK8 RETINOL 6TR ADVANCED NIGHT SERUM

Sadly at the age where anti-ageing products are taking over the shelf in my bathroom, I am well aware that the ingredient Retinol is considered a power ingredient proven to provide anti-ageing benefits. I was using the products quite a few months ago – well before I got pregnant (note that retinol or Vitamin A as it is also called, is a no-no ingredient if you are pregnant or lactating, as it is believed to cause damage to the unborn child) – but again luckily, due to the high strength of this, I had already finished the bottle when I got pregnant, I have merely had this post sitting in my files waiting to be published.. so here you go, here are my thoughts on the MediK8 Retinol 6TR Advanced Night Serum*;

What They Say:
Medik8 Retinol 6TR is a powerful yet light vitamin A serum that helps to rejuvenate skin at night - the optimal time for skin repair and replenishment. Retinol 6TR visibly regenerates the epidermal layer of the skin, refining skin tone and brightening up darker patches on the skin by accelerating natural skin cell turnover. It unblocks pores and regulates sebum production to clear and prevent acne and blackheads. The appearance of facial contours is smoothed, through stimulation of collagen and elastin production leading to a more youthful skin appearance.

RRP: $89 (15ml) – Available from
Advanced Cosmeceuticals or call on 1800 242 011 for further stockists

What I Say:
Growing up in Scandinavia where the summers are short, meant that when we finally had a nice warm sunny day, we were outside enjoying the sun all day long. And those were times where all you used was SPF2, yep SPF2, if any at all! Needless to say that decades on I have more pigmentation that I like, and add to that a combination skin that has always been prone to breakouts – so the Medik8 Retinol 6TR, promising to both help unblocking pores, regulating sebum production and clearing and preventing acne, as well as refining the skin tone and brightening darker patches of pigmentation, seems like it has been created for my skin.

In short, the Retinol 6TR Serum helps with:

  • Improves appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Smoothes and firms the skin
  • Helps correct the appearance of photo-damage
  • Brighten up and refines skin tone
  • Reduces congestion and clears the skin

The night serum is a professional strength containing 0.6% vitamin A, and as it is so strong it is advised to use it at night where it can work its magic, also because it may make the skin more sensitive to the sun, so hence best avoided during night time. It has a high-tech time-release delivery system that gradually releases the vitamin A during the night.

The serum is very concentrated and I found that I only needed to use around three drops to cover my face completely, and it quickly absorbs into my skin, without leaving it feeling greasy or tacky – and without any stinging at all, which you could possibly expect from a high-strength serum like this. The serum does contain Vitamin E as well to provide antioxidant protection , but regardless I follow with my usual night cream to seal in the serum.

Also worth mentioning is that the serum contains no parabens or preservatives, and as it is also fragrance free, it has next to no scent.

As the serum is so concentrated I did build up the use, by first using it every second day for a week, to make sure I had no irritations or reactions, before starting to use it every night.

When I wake in the morning and rise my face with cold water as I usually do, I can instantly both see and feel that the serum has done wonders. My skin is not only very soft, and far from as greasy as it often is when I wake in the morning, especially during the warmer months, but is also has a lovely glow, as if I have just had a beauty treatment in a salon. Absolutely no signs of redness or irritation in sight.

As the days and weeks go on, and I use this Retinol 6 TR serum nightly, my skin is improving by the day. It is less and less greasy, especially in the t-zone area, and consequently I seem to be getting less breakouts, and those pimples that I do get, seems to fade a lot quicker than usual.

And then there’s the pigmentation. Minor pigmentation marks seems to vanish, while darker clusters of pigmentation seems to get smaller and gradually fade. My overall skin tone simply seems more even, and my skin more clear and glowing. And all from such a tiny bottle of serum!

At $89 for a small bottle containing just 15ml, you may find that expensive, but when you remember that you can hardly get a facial at a salon for under $100 these days, and that this serum helps give you that nice glow you otherwise usually only experience when having a facial, and you have it when you wake every morning. Then I think it is worth every cent. And believe it or not, the tiny bottle lasts you longer than you think.

Unfortunately I got pregnant before I got around to purchasing a new bottle, and now the dreaded pregnancy pigmentation seems to increase on my face by the day, so as soon as it is safe for me to use again, it will be on the top of my shopping list, so I can hopefully get that even glow once more!

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL COLOUR RICHE LE VERNIS THE WHITES COLLECTION

Today I thought that I’d share with you a range of L’Oreal Paris limited edition of pastel nail polish shades, the L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis The White Collection*, which was launched in the lead up to summer.

What They Say:

Keep your nails fresh this summer with a range of white pastel tones from Colour Riche Le Vernis. White is the on-trend colour this season, tone it back with a range of tinted shades, perfectly suited to a hot summer’s day.

RRP: $7.95 (5ml) – Available from Priceline, department stores, variety stores and select pharmacies

What I Say:

This limited edition of nail polishes really is perfect for use during summer when you’ve got a slight summer tan. The polishes are slightly tinted pastel colours, which have been inspired by fine porcelain. The colours are not typical pastel colours, but all whitened-out percentages of colours, and are available in five shades, as well as a white, which is a part of the permanent range. The colours include;

  • Chantilly Lace – White (part of permanent range)
  • Lemon Meringue – Pastel Yellow
  • Menthe Glace – Pastel Turquoise
  • Peach Negligee – Pastel Peach
  • Ocean Porcelaine – Pastel Blue
  • Gourmandise – Pastel Lavender

Menthe Glace

The polishes have a nice thick consistency and provide a good coverage, even after the first coat thanks to the concentrated pigments, although two coats are necessary, and the wide brush that makes application easy. The polishes have a built-in top coat that gives them a nice high-gloss shine that has a good wear of approx. 4 days wear as well.

Personally I really love the Menthe Glaze as it is such a fresh colour, but then again, they are all so lovely that it is hard to pick a favourite!

PRODUCT REVIEW: KEVIN MURPHY ANGEL.WASH, ANGEL.RINSE AND ANGEL.MASQUE

For the past weeks I have been using the Angel collection of products from Kevin Murphy; here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

Angel.Wash: A delicate recovery shampoo for fine, dry or broken coloured hair. Ingredients such as Aloe, Iris and Lavender gently protect hair, while Angelica Root extract and essential oil of Grapefruit gently cleanse stressed-out hair. RRP: $32.95 – Available from Adore Beauty and Select Hair Salons

Angel.Rinse: Extracts of Angelica Root, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Chamomile extract and Milk Protein will moisturise fine and/or coloured hair without weighing hair down. This conditioner will also gently repair fine and fragile hair. RRP: $33.95 – Available from Adore Beauty and Select Hair Salons

Angel.Masque: This repairing, smoothing and conditioning treatment is infused with Rose Hip and Evening Primrose oil while Quinoa proteins bring moisture and repair deep into the hair while making it shiny. RRP: $49.95 – Available from Adore Beauty and Select Hair Salons

What I Say:
The Angel hair range is really designed for fine, dry and broken coloured hair, although I have medium thick hair, - it is still dry and damaged, especially at the ends, and it is coloured too, so my hair has benefitted from the products as well.

The Angel.Wash is extremely gentle, and contains ingredients including aloe, iris and lavender, along with Angelica Root extract and grapefruit essential oil, which combined gentle cleanses the hair, while also protecting it. The pink tinged shampoo is very concentrated, and easily lathers up into a soft form, and just one wash is all that is needed, even when I only wash my hair every second to third day. And as soon as the shampoo is rinsed out, it feels soft and clean, and without that squeaky feeling too.

Following with the Angel.Rinse that contains among others extracts of Angelica Root, mango an cocoa butter, chamomile extract and milk protein, that combined help moisturise the hair without weighing it down, all whilst repairing damaged hair. It is thick and creamy, and instantly absorbs into the hair, and it rinses out easily, and without leaving behind a greasy residue.

When I feel my hair needs an extra treatment, or even just to use in the ends, I have been using the Angel.Masque, which contains the superfood Quinoa, which is strengthening and very deep conditioning for fine, chemically treated, coloured or damaged hair.

Quinoa is one of those superfoods that everyone wanting to be healthy is into at the moment, and being on the forefront of innovation and known for bringing elements of skincare to haircare products, Kevin Murphy has added it to his products, knowing that the quinoa proteins can help repair, smooth and condition the hair.

The Angel.Masque is super thick, and in fact a little difficult to get out of the tall square bottle, so I think it would make it a little easier if it did come in a squeeze tube, - but the bottle does look very stylish, and at least I am grateful that it doesn’t come in a tub, as hair treatments in tubs always end up being diluted with water when you apply it in the shower.

The masque absorbs quite quickly, and as it is so concentrated, you only need the smallest amount. And again, as soon as you rinse it out after about 5 to 10 minutes, you can feel its magic, as the hair immediately feels so soft, and is so easy to comb, with minimum tangles and knots.

And once I’ve let my hair dry naturally it looks so healthy and shiny, and even the ends look so much healthier as they are deeply moisturised to the very tip. And even flyaways and frizz seems to have minimised.

Common for all the products are the very natural scent that is so typical for Kevin Murphy products – and one of the reasons why I like them so much. It is such a refreshing change from the usual overly perfumed floral hair products that most other brands offer. With the Kevin Murphy products you can tell that natural ingredients have been used, as that comes across in the products, it is almost like going for a walk in the bush!

Usually my hair tends to become a little drier during summer as it is exposed to the harsh sun, but this year, thanks to the Angel products from Kevin Murphy, that is not the case. My hair is so soft and shiny, and hence looking very healthy. The products are not cheap, but they are very concentrated and will last you a while, so to me they are worth every cent. Plus the pink tinged bottles do look ever co cute in the bathroom too!

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOJOBA COMPANY AFTER SUN RESCUE PACK

The summer sun with its harsh UV rays can cause havoc in the skin, but even worse cause premature ageing, and of course not to mention burn and dry out the skin. Hence, looking after you skin with lots and lots of sunscreen is so important. But once out of the sun, it is equally important to care for the skin, to bring it back to optimum health, and to do so, the Jojoba Company has put together an After Sun Rescue Pack; There are my thoughts;

What They Say:
Use the Jojoba Company 3 step beauty routine to soothe, refresh and hydrate throughout the hotter months. Our 100% Natural Australian jojoba creates the perfect barrier against harsh environmental elements while the combination of Redness Reducing Balm and Antioxidant Hydrating Mist is the perfect treatment to calm and cool redness and sunburnt skin.

RRP: Redness Reducing Balm (50ml), 100% Natural Jojoba (30ml), and Antioxidant Hydrating Mist (15ml), all presented in a reusable mesh bag – $39.95 (valued at $54) – Available from Health Food Stores, selected Pharmacies, and from the Jojoba Company Online

What I Say:

I will start by the 100% Natural Jojoba Oil as I have previously reviewed and declared my love for it (you can see one of my reviews here!).

This stuff is simply magic! And it is such a multi-tasker too, as it loaded with antioxidants and vitamins A, D and E. There is simply not the use it is not suitable for. As well as an intensive anti-ageing moisture serum on my face, I also like to use a tiny little bit to bring back a little moisture to dry hair and smooth down any frizz and flyaways. But it is also suitable to use as a treatment for the cuticles, and can even be used as an eye makeup remover! The golden drops are fragrance free, and come in a cute frosted pump bottle and is very concentrated so the tiny bottle will last you for a long time.

The Redness Reducing Balm is packed with antioxidants thanks to its natural and organic ingredients, and it helps provide instant calming relief to dry, red or inflamed skin, and instantly reduce any redness. So it is not only perfect if you’ve been too long in the sun and have managed to get sunburnt, it is also perfect to use after shaving or waxing or after surgery or laser treatments. It comes in a bright turquoise pump tube and light consistency absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving feeling soft and moisturised, and with a gentle pleasant natural scent lingering behind.

The Antioxidant Hydrating Mist is a hydrating mist to refresh, restore and tone the skin, also tightening the appearance of pores and restoring skin vitality. As the name suggests, It is loaded with antioxidants including vitamin E, gingo biloba, and Kakadu plum which are rich in vitamin C, as well as green tea and chamomile. The Hydrating mist can be used at any time when you feel your skin needs a boost of antioxidants and hydration, or when your face is hot or overheated from the sun on a hot day. I also found that it was perfect to use on top of your makeup for added hydration, or even as a type of setting mist, or to simply refresh during the day. It comes in a cute little pump bottle, that is in fact also perfect for taking with you on long-haul flights when you skin really is need of extra care – or when you are pregnant like me and are generally just feeling hot and flushed!

This Jojoba Company After Sun Rescue Pack really is the best summer rescue pack, a must after spending time outside during the hot summer months, or taking with you on your next beach holiday. I was already in love with the 100% Natural Jojoba, but thanks to this pack I’ve found another two favourites!

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OCCITANE FLEURS DE CERISIER EAU DE TOILETTE, SHOWER MILK AND HAND CREAM

Today I’d like to share with you a newly launched limited edition fragrance from L’Occitane, the Fleurs de Cerisier*;

What They Say:
Spring unveils the very first cherry blossoms in the Luberon orchards. Their rosy whiteness diffuses the sweet scent of frivolity. Subtle and crystal clear, Fleurs de Cerisier invites you to get whisked away in a whirlwind of fresh delicate notes.

Eau de Toilette (50ml): $50
Shower Milk (250ml): $28
Hand Cream (30ml): $12

- Available from L’Occitane from 11th February 2015

What I Say:
This newly launched, limited edition fragrance from L’Occitane is called Fleurs de Cerisier, which in short is the French for Cherry Blossom.

The Fleurs de Cerisier Eau de Toilette contains;

  • Top notes: Lemon, Black Currant, Water Melon
  • Heart notes: Cherry Blossom, Rose, Violet
  • Base notes: Woody notes, Musk

Being a lover of anything citrus scented, I was naturally intrigues as soon as I read the notes in the new fragrance. And I was not mistaken, the fresh zesty scent is divine. The added black currant and water melon naturally gives it a lovely fruity and sweet note that is just right without being too sickly sweet or too overpowering. And I do like that the musky and woody are not very dominant in the fragrance, and that it is such a light and uplifting scent, although I am sure that those notes help give the fragrance some depth and also make it last longer on the skin! And as it is such a light, fresh scent, I find it is more suited as a spring and summer scent – although it would also be perfect for bring back those summer memories..

Building up the scent by using complimentary products are always a good idea, and the shower milk makes the beautiful experience start already in your bathroom, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth and with that lovely scent lingering.

There is also a body lotion in the range, as well as the small hand cream, is so nurturing for very dry hands keeping them soft and moisturised for hours, while leaving them smelling so lovely that I find it hard to stop smelling my hands. It also has the perfect size to pop in your handbag!

Overall this is such a lovely fragrance that I will enjoy wearing during hot summer days, and if you like fresh, fruity and zesty fragrances too, I highly recommend that you go into your nearest L’Occitane store and give it a sniff before it’s too late!
