PRODUCT REVIEW: REMINGTON KERATIN & ARGAN OIL NOURISH CONICAL TONG

Today I'd like to introduce you to the Remington Keratin & Argan Oil Nourish Conical Tong. This advanced ceramic styling tong has been infused with keratin and argan oil, so that it not only styles the hair, the infusions also help nourish, restore and repair the hair from inside out to keep the hair shiny and healthy, while also reducing frizz. And according to Remington these infusions lasts the lifetime of the styler and also leaves no oily residue in the hair.

The round tong varies from 13mm to 25mm in width to give you the flexibility to create a variety of different curls and waves.

The Conical Tong Styler heats up quickly, in less than a minute actually, and has variable heat settings of up to 210C to ensure there is a setting suitable for all hair types, and I also really love that it has an automatic safety shut off for peace of mind. And for clumsy people like me, I also love that it comes with a heat protective glove to prevent your hands from getting burnt.

The actual tong is easy to use, you simply wrap small sections around the tong and leave for 10 or so seconds before removing and continuing until all the hair has been done. To make sure the curls and waves last as long as possible, I always spray with some flexible hair spray and leave the hair to cool down completely, before gently loosening the hair with my hands for a more relaxed style.

All in all I really enjoy using this styler as it is so simple to use, and I love the lose natural waves that it creates in my long hair and the fact that it cares for my hair and makes it look so shiny and healthy at he same time.

Remington Keratin & Argan Oil Nourish Conical Tong - RRP: $39.99

PRODUCT REVIEW: ROBERTO CAVALLI PARADISO AZZURO EAU DE PARFUM

Today I'd like to share with you a newly launched fragrance from Roberto Cavalli, the Paradiso Azzuro. The fragrance is intended to be a celebration of the beauty of the Mediterranean Cost, with notes to evoke the unique sea breeze.

The scent has the following notes;

Top Notes: Citrus, bergamot, lavender
Middle notes: Wild Jasmine
Base Notes: Cypress, Cashmere Wood

And as a lover of anything citrus scented, I absolutely adore this scent, with its clean, fresh aquatic, fruity citrusy scent, thank to the citrus and bergamot notes. Yet it also a sensual floral touch thanks to the notes from the jasmine. I am not usually a fan of cypress notes, but it does give the scent some of warmness, that is still very lovely.

The actual scent lasts extremely well, all day without the need for reapplying at all, and actually you can also slightly detect it the following morning!!

And the actually bottle is absolutely stunning, with its diamond shaped design in turquoise blue glass.

This scent has no doubt been launched now to coincide with the European summer, but even though winter is fast approaching here in Australia, I still feel that this fresh scent has got so much 'body' as well as longevity that it is just as suitable for wear here now.

Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro Eau de Parfum: RRP: $80 / 30ml, $110 / 50ml, $140 / 75ml
Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzuro Body Lotion 150ml $40
Roberto Cavalli Paradiso Azzurro is available from Myer, David Jones and selected pharmacies

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUST HAVE IT APRIL 2016

The April Lust Have It Box arrived yesterday, so once again on time, which is always nice. Here's what was inside and my thoughts...

Yet again this months’ products arrived in a pink mesh bag, and as I've said a few times now, while I don't mind those bags, but have so many of them by now that I'm starting to not know what to do with them, so really I'd love it if Lust Have It changed the style again for a bit of a variety. This months bag included four full sized items as well as two deluxe sized sample.

Manna Kadar Fantasy 3-in-1 Blush Highlighter Eyeshadow - Full Size (RPR: $25)

This pearlised powder claims to be a multi-tasking product that can be used both as blush, highlighter and eyeshadow. The shade, Fantasy, is a beautiful warm apricotty shade, which is really lovely, and I can actually see myself using this as an eyeshadow. It does have a bit of sheen, so I may personally find it too shimmery for that use, however, regardless still happy about it, also because Manna Kadar is new to me, and its always exciting trying out new brands.

Marsk Organic eyeliner - Full Size (RRP: $28.95)

I really like the products from Marsk, however, and I've already got two eyeliners from them from other subscription boxes, although these are dark brown, and I do really like them. However, while I will be using this off-white eyeliner to good use on the inner rim of my eyes, I am sadly just not very excited about it!

Marsk Organic eyeliner - Full Size ($28.95)

Another product - while, again I do like the products from Marsk, for the variety of things, I would have preferred to see a product from another brand included instead one of the Marsk ones. That said, I do like a good brow products, so do look forward to putting this one to the test too.

Personail Nail Polish Wraps - Full Size (RRP: $18)

I've never heard of this brand before, so bonus points for the inclusion! This small pack contains 16 nail polish strips, a cuticle stick and a mini nail file, and they promise that the wraps will last up to 10 days on the nails. The design I got is a kind of random pink/blue/yellow/green/purple swirly one, and being a little conservative, not one that I'd usually go for, but as the say, change is as good as a holiday, so I look forward to seeing how they turn out.

Soak Shampoo and Conditioner - Deluxe Sizes, 25ml each (RRP: $24.95 / 500ml each)

Sadly again, these are repeat samples for me from a previous sample box, and while I think these products are lovely, and smell absolutely delish, sadly there is just no novelty factor there for me.

So there you go, the contents of this months Lust Have It. Value-wise this box is definitely worth its money, but unfortunately, this month I'm just not that excited about the contents, because of repeat products and brands. While I will use all products, the only one I am really excited about is really the Manna Kadar product!

I appreciate that it can be tricky to continuously source new products and brands, but to me, essentially that is what beauty subscription boxes are all about, the opportunity to be exposed to something new you'd otherwise never have found or bought yourself, and unfortunately Lust Have It didn't really hit the mark for me this month. I have my fingers crossed that next months box will be again!

Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box (quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but if you use my unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website, you are eligible for $5 off your first box from Lust Have It, and at the same time you’ll also be supporting Beauty & Lifestyle Hunter, as I will get a few dollars too if someone subscribes using this code.

PRODUCT REVIEW: SILVER BULLET KERATIN 230 TITANIUM WIIDE PLATE STRAIGHTENER

I admit to not straightening my hair as often as I like these days. Life with a baby and a toddler is simply too busy for me to stand there forever and ever trying to straighten my thick and very long hair. And if I can't do it properly because I haven't got the time to do so, I just don't do it!

So when the opportunity to trial the Silver Bullet Keratin 230 Titanium Wide Plate Straightener came up, I happily jumped at the opportunity - because this straightener simply promises to tame even the most unmanageable hair more easily and faster than ever before.

And why is then so quick... Well, the straightener has as the name suggests plates that are wider than your average straightener with just 25mm wide plates, whereas the Silver Bullet has 38mm plates meaning that it allows you to straighten 50% more hair in just one pass!

The straightener also features;

  • Friction-free 38mm titanium plates style more hair in one pass
  • Adjustable heat up to 230°C
  • Straightener controls on inside of handle, can’t be accidently changed
  • Advanced surround heat for faster curls, flick and waves
  • Ideal for use with permanent and keratin straightening systems, reducing the total time for each service
  • Presented in a special Silver Bullet box which includes: a paddle brush, styling comb, 4 crocodile clips and a heat resistant mat

And I have to say that I am very impressed with this Silver Bullet Keratin 230 Titanium Wide Plate Straightener, as it really is the fastest straightener that I have every used. It not only heats up so quickly, it really also slides easily and quickly through my hair - and while I do have it at the highest setting, the fact that it only takes one quick swipe though the hair to straighten it, also means that my hair is less exposed to the heat and hence chance of getting damaged. It also leaves my hair looking so smooth and sleek, with all fly-aways and frizz tamed instantly.

But of course, you can always put it on a lower setting depending on your hair, or the type of hair style you're after. A slightly lower heat setting can also give you a 'less straight' more natural straight look!

I have to admit to only using this as a straightener, and not to create curls or waves, but regardless, I do like that the surrounds heat too, so that it can double as a 'curler' too if needed.

But the features of the Silver Bullet Straightening Iron don't stop there, as it has heaps of features. I in particularly love that the temperature control is on the inside, I mean, who hasn't by accident increased, or decreased the heat on their hair styler!

I also love that the straightener has a LED display makes to make it easy to accurately determine temperature, and the fact that it has a long swivelling cord so it doesn't get tangled up with the very first use.

I also love that it comes with a few accessories, including a quality paddle brush, a styling comb, 4 crocodile clips and heat resistant mat, which is so useful -, and something that I wish I'd had a long time ago, as I'm always so afraid that my hot stylers will leave burn marks on my vanity. And of course also worth mentioning is that the lightweight straightener also looks incredibly stylish with its matte black design.

Overall I am so impressed with this Silver Bullet Straightener, as it really does live up to its claim of straightening the hair faster. Definitely highly recommended.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA: URBAN RITUELLE FLORUSH ORGANICS

Today I'd like to share with you a newly launched range from Urban Rituelle, the Flourish Organics, which is available in two blends Soothing Vanilla and Uplifting Lemongrass. I've put the Botanical Bounty Gift set from the Uplifting Lemongrass to the test, which would also make for the perfect Mother's Day Gift Idea..

As the name suggests, the products have been made with certified organic ingredients where possible, along with a blend of botanical extracts and pure essential oils. I also love that there are no added artificial colours, fragrances, mineral oils sulfates, parabens, or harsh chemicals.

The Botanical Bounty Gift Set include an Organic Hand & Body Wash as well as an Organic Hand & Body Lotion, which comes in a small drawstring gift bag.

The Flourish Organic Hand & Body Wash has been made with certified organic aloe vera and ginseng on help revitalise and nourish the skin, while certified organic calendula soothe and gently cleanse the skin. It also contains Australian dessert lime extract to refresh and hydrate and vitamin A to rejuvenate the skin.

The Flourish Organic Hand & Body Lotion contains organic aloe vera, wheat germ oil, camellia tea oil to hydrate and revitalise the skin, as well as organic papaya extract, shea butter and calendula repair and protect the skin. These ingredients are also rich in vitamins A, E and C to provide antioxidants to the skin.

The Hand & Body Wash comes in a huge dark green pump bottle with a timber 'collar' while the Hand & Body Lotion comes in a huge white bottle with green writing, and it also has the timber bottle.

I have to admit that I thought that these bottles were so nice and stylish that it was a shame to 'hide' them away in my shower in our ensuite for nobody but my husband and myself to see, so I decided to put them on full display in our downstairs powder room, and use the Hand & Body Wash solely as a hand wash, and the Hand & Body Lotion, solely as a hand lotion.

And oh have I been enjoying using them, and even my husband has been making comments to on how nice they are both to look at and use, something he otherwise rarely does.

The Hand wash gently cleanses the hands without drying them out, but still I like to use a small pump of hand lotion afterwards to ensure my hands do not dry out, and also to extend the beautiful lemongrass scent. It is so fresh and uplifting, and has just a touch of the ginseng lingering in the background. I know that I've mentioned this before, but citrus scents remain my favourite, and these products means that I enjoy washing my hands, also for the 100th during the day (the joy of two little kids both in nappies!), , although it also means that I cannot stop smelling my gorgeous scented hands after I've washed them and used the lotion.
I also love that it is a very unisex scent, unlike many other scented soaps and lotions which often tend to be very floral.

Urban Rituelle Botanical Bounty Gift Set including Organic Hand & Body Wash 500 ml and Organic Hand & Body Lotion 500 ml - RRP: $59.95

Available from Urban Rituelle Online, as well as Select Stockists

PRODUCT REVIEW: RIMMEL LONDON #INSTAFLAWLESS, SCULPTING & HIGHLIGHTING KIT AND LIP CONDITIONING BALM

Today I'd like to share with you some newly launched products from Rimmel London, which includes the #InstaFlawless Perfecting, Radiant Skin Tint, Sculpting & Highlighting Kit and Lip Conditioning Balm by Kate SPF15;

The #InstaFlawless Perfecting, Radiant Skin Tint is a multi-functional product that has several functions from being a primer, a tinted moisturiser and a moisturiser with SPF.

Primes and perfects the skin, erases signs of fatigue, making the skin tone look more even and brighter while giving it a natural-looking radiant glow. It also moisturises the skin for 24 hours and comes with SPF15 to protect the skin from the sun's harmful rays.

The #InstaFlawless Perfecting, Radiant Skin Tint, is like a tinted moisturiser and has a very light and thin formula and it absorbs quickly and easily into the skin, with a nice dewy finish, and a light coverage, yet surprisingly it does manage to minimise the look of my pigmentation and even out my skin tone and give my skin a nice healthy glow, but I still need my usual concealer to cover and hide more prominent marks. It can be used both on its own, or it can also be used underneath your usual foundation, but I must admit to only having used it on its own.

The tint claims to after just seven day's wear, leave the skin more even and with a radiant glow, but I have to say that I have not noticed any permanent change to the look of my skin, apart from when I'm actually wearing the tint.

The tint works well on my combination skin, but the usual shiny t-zone does appear by the afternoon, so a touch up is required. Regardless, I do enjoy using this #InstaFlawless Perfecting, Radiant Skin Tint, as a tinted moisturiser on those days I am just after a quick and simple casual look.

Next is the Rimmel Sculpting & Highlighting Kit, which is the product I am most excited about. All major brands are bringing out sculpting palettes at the moment so that you can use light and shade to help enhance and downplay facial features and sculpt the cheeks you've dreamed of. And well now Rimmel is joining the ranks. This particular kit is made in collaboration with Kate Moss, drawing from her years of experience in sculpting.

The Kate Sculpting & Highlighting Kit is a palette in the shade Coral Glow contains three products – a highlighter, a shading powder and a blush, that you use in combination to create a healthy, radiant, defined and sculpted look.

The kit contains a soft pale shimmery highlighter in a champagne shade that can be used to highlight areas that naturally catch the light - cheek bones, brow bones, the centre of the chin, forehead and bridge of the nose. It also contains a darker shading powder to contour and recede areas of the face that you don’t want to emphasise, such as the sides of the nose, jaw line and hairline. And finally, it also has a powder blush in a coral shade gives definition and colour to the cheeks and added warmth to the whole face.

All three products have a slight bit of shimmer throughout, but it is still quite subtle. They powders are creamy and soft and easy to apply and blend, and you can apply just a little, or if you're after a more dramatic sculpted look, you can also build up the colours to your liking. The shades in the compact suits my medium skin tone quite well.

The palette comes in an on-trend rose gold palette, with the powders on a diagonal line.

Overall I think Rimmel has nailed it with this Sculpting and Highlighting Kit, and I know I'll be reaching for it a lot over the coming months.

Finally, there's the Lip Conditioning Balm By Kate SPF15. I didn't really expect to see a lip balm from Rimmel, but I guess not. The perfect lip does require moisturised lips! Unlike other lip balms, this one has been specifically designed to be used underneath your regular lipstick, without disturbing the colour or longevity of the lipstick, yet while keeping your lips soft and moisturised for up to 8hours. Used on its own, it gives the lips a subtle sheen.

The Lip Balm is enriched with caster oil and pomegranate extract to help no only moisturise lips hours, but also give relief for dry and cracked lips.

I didn't really think I needed a lip balm to go under my lipsticks - I usually only apply lip balm once a day, just before going to bed, and that is more than sufficient for me - but I do really like how it makes wearing even a very comfortable lipstick even more comfortable!

The lip balm comes packaged in the same style as the usual Kate Lipsticks, only it is white, and it has a lovely fruity scent too! Well done Rimmel for discovering a need I didn't know had!

Rimmel London #InstaFlawless Perfecting, Radiant Skin Tint - RRP: $13.95 / 30ml
Rimmel London Sculpting & Highlighting Kit - RRP: $16.95 / 18.5g
Rimmel London Lip Conditioning Balm by Kate SPF15 - RRP: $9.95 / 4g

NEW HAIR ESSENTIALS FROM LADY JAYNE

My hair is very long, actually, at the moment probably the longest it has ever been, just a few inches from reaching my waist! That not from wanting to grow it that long, but more from simply not being able to find the time to get it cut! So naturally I rely on some good hair products, including hair styling products, and one brand I know I can always rely on for quality products is Lady Jayne.

Having a little baby does sadly mean that my hair is usually up in either a high pony, a plat or in a bun, as otherwise the little curious hands never fail to pull my hair! So elastics are one of my key essentials, and the Lady Jayne Luxury Velvet Elastics Smoothies are some of the best hair elastics that I've tried. As the name suggests, they are made from soft velvet so that they keep the hair in place without sliding out, and very importantly, without damaging the hair.

The Lady Jayne Detangling Comb is a Turquoise/Green comb that is designed to comb conditioning treatments through the hair and detangling the hair while tit is wet. As wet hair is more sensitive to breakages, the comb is purposely wide-toothed to be more gentle on the hair. And believe it or not, even with my long hair I have never actually combed through my conditioner or treatment while in the shower, but I have to say that it is really quick and easy, and also afterwards, when you comb it again when out of the shower, it is so much quicker and easier too.

Finally, the Lady Jayne Smooth & Knotless Detangling and Smoothing Brush, which not only quickly and easily detangles the hair thanks to the nylon bristles, it is also designed to smooth down any frizz and flyaways. I generally do prefer a brush with natural bristles, but naturally that also comes at a cost, and this one is certainly a great budget alternative, as it does brush though the hair quickly and easily and very gently too. Plus, there's no denying that the girly pink shade is very pretty too!

Lady Jayne Smoothies Luxury Velvet Elastics - RRP: $7.99 / 8 pack
Lady Jayne Detangling Comb - RRP: $5.49
Lady Jayne Smooth & Knotless Detangling and Smoothing Brush - RRP: $14.99

Lady Jayne is available from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Target, Big W and selected pharmacies.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA: REMINGTON FACIAL CLEANSING BRUSH

Today I'd like to talk about the Facial Cleansing Brush From Remington.
I have always struggled with my skin breaking out, and even now at the age were anti-ageing products should be more realistic, my skin is still from time to time playing up like a teenagers!

However, over the years I've learnt that proper cleansing is vital in keeping breakouts at bay, and one of those tools that in particular has helped my skin, is the Clairsonic, which I admit to love, for that same reason.

Clairsonic was probably one of the first sonic facial brushes on the market, and since then, several others have joined, due to popularity, I'd say, and one of those is the Facial Cleansing Brush from Remington.

The brush has so many features, including;
  • Dual-action rotating and vibrating motion
  • LED Indicator lights
  • Three cleansing speeds
  • One minute timer that pulse every seconds
  • Fully Waterproof
  • Three interchangeable brush heads, normal, sensitive and massage
  • Up to 30 uses from one charge
  • Charging Stand
  • Beauty Bag
  • 2 Year Warranty

So how did it perform...

I naturally cannot help but compare to my old Clairsonic, which is 3 or 4 years old now, but still going strong - and I feel that this brush is every bit as efficient in giving my skin a deep cleanse deep down every single pore to remove excess sebum and impurities, and not to mention leftover makeup!

I don't have particularly sensitive skin, so have not been using the sensitive brush, but in spite of using the Normal brush, it is still very gentle. In that connection I also want to mention that I love that it pulses every 20 seconds to remind you to move onto the next zone of your face so that you do not over-cleanse.

I also love that it comes with the massage brush, which is designed to revitalise dull and tired skin, and that it is completely waterproof so that I can use it in the shower, to speed up my morning routine.

Unlike many other 'copies', I love that Remington has actually designed a new look brush that not a complete copy in the looks department, but rather a stylish (and dare I say more stylish!), brush, that sits nicely in a small female hand. The pastel mint shade of the brush is also very stunning, whilst still being girlie.

The massage brush head is also unique to Remington, and I do really like that one. While the normal and sensitive brush heads features soft bristles like any other brush head, the massage head is made with soft plastic bristles, and after use, you can really see how circulation has been boosted in the skin.

It is difficult to say if it has made any different to the state of my skin as I was already using a cleansing brush regularly. But I can definitely both see and feel that it helps give my skin a very thorough, yet gentle cleanse, leaving my skin soft and smooth.

But overall I am really enjoying using this Remington Facial Cleansing Brush - it has as many, if not more features than a standard Clairsonic, and it does an as good, if not better cleanse of the skin, also taking into account that it includes the massage head - and at less money too!

If I was to purchase a new facial cleansing brush, I would definitely consider the Remington, and highly recommend that you check it out too! And of course, it makes for a pretty good Mother's Day pressie too!!

Remington Facial Cleansing Brush - RRP: $99.95

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUXCURLY LUX NATURAL HAIR STYLER

Today I'd like to talk about the Luxcurly Lux Natural Hair Styler. I received this months and months ago for trial, but as mentioned a few times now, before I knew it, our little baby ended up in hospital where he was to stay for over 4.5 months, which simply put a hold to most other things in my life, including my little blog. But now I'm ever so slowly catching up, and time has come to cast my verdict on the Luxcurly.

Luxcurly is Sydney based store, selling auto-rotating curling irons. There are a few styles available, where I tried the Luxcurly Lux Natural which is a 28mm round barrel auto-rotating curling iron ideal for those with thick or medium to long hair.

The styler features;

  • Ceramic- and tourmaline-coated barrel with PTC heating for steady, even heat distribution
  • LCD temperature display and control buttons to allow users to adjust heat levels
  • Temperature adjustable from 100 degrees to 220 degrees
  • Automatically turns off after 60 minutes
  • 360 degree long two and half-metre long cable to make styling even easier

The large 28mm ceramic coated tourmaline barrel makes it possible to style the hair both with tighter curls, as well as more relaxed looser ones. And the styler has a left or right button for curling in or out.

I am not very good at styling my very long thick hair, as it not only takes forever, but having a baby and a toddler, also means that I simply haven't got the time to dedicate to doing it. But I have to say that once you get used to the Luxcurly, it is very simple and quick too.

The styler heats up quickly, and the fact that the barrel rotates automatically at a good speed and you don't have to manually wrap your hair around the wand does make it easy. But if you wish, and you don't push either the L or R (left or right) buttons to make it rotate, you can also use it manually in a traditional way if you prefer.

I also love the fact that it has a very long rotating cord, so you don't have to be stuck in just one place in front of a power point to do your hair, but you can move around a little easier. I also love that it has a build-in stand that protects your furniture from burning once you're finished, as well as the fact that it automatically shuts off after 60 minutes as I'd admit to forgetting to turn off hair stylers on several occasions!

I don't really like too tight curls, but prefer a looser more natural look, so I found that leaving the hair in the wand for just a few moments was sufficient to achieve this more voluminous look.

Overall I enjoy using this Luxcurly styler as it is so quick and simple to use, perfect when you like me is always strapped for time. And love the casual look with some much needed volume that this styler creates in no time!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ELIZABETH ARDEN FLAWLESS START INSTANT PERFECTING PRIMER

A few weeks ago I went to an event for the launch of some of the products that Elizabeth Arden were launching. Amongst those was the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer.

This primer is in part skincare, as it also has so many skincare benefits. It has a time-released technology that helps balance the skin by maintaining moisture in the skin and help control shine by absorbing excess oil for a shine free complexion. The primer is thus designed to help make the skin the perfect canvas to not only make the skin look better, but also to extend the wear of the makeup.

The primer instantly makes the skin appear and feel incredibly soft and smooth, diminishing the appearance of pores and fine lines, by simply filling out the skin. At the same time, the primer also blurs any discolourations making the skin tone more even thanks to a triple blurring complex with a light diffusing technology. And it does all of this while giving the skin a healthy glow. So you can actually just use it on its own without makeup on top, if you like, and you'll still both see and feel the benefits.

The Primer is silicone beads, which you can feel when you apply it to the skin, but unlike many other silicone based primers which I often feel clog up my pores quickly making my skin feel congested, this is not the case with this primer. The primer comes in an easy to use tube and the actual primer is skin toned. You only need a tiny amount, and as soon as you swipe it over your skin, it absorbs living the skin silky smooth and soft, like no other primer I've tried before.

And what I really like is that following my foundation is so much easier to apply, it simply glides onto my skin afterwards, and I feel that I need to use significantly less foundation for a more flawless look that stays that way throughout the day without the need for the usual mid-day touch up.

I really enjoy using this Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer from Elizabeth Arden, and as it is oil-free and non-comedogenic, it is perfectly suited to my combination skin prone to breakouts, and while I have not noticed any of the long-term skincare benefits, it is making such a difference in both the look and the wear of my makeup, so for me this is definitely a winning product that I'd consider repurchasing.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RIMMEL LONDON MAGNIF'EYES DOUBLE ENDED SHADOW + LINER

Today I'd like to tell you about the newly launched Magnif'Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner from Rimmel London. These Eyeshadow and Eyeliners are dual tipped pens that come with a rounded eyeshadow in one end and a pointed eyeliner in the other end.

Both they eyeshadow and eyeliner are incredibly pigmented and as claimed, they are creaseproof, transferproof and also waterproof - in fact, when I first tried them on my hand, it took several attempts scrubbing my hands with water to get it off. But fret not, if you're using an eye makeup remover for waterproof eye makeup, then it comes off your eyes easily without the need to tug, rub or pull at the sensitive eye area.

As the eyeshadow part is so pigmented, I find that a single swipe over my eyelids gives me more than sufficient colour. You just need to be aware that when you apply it, you only have a few moments to blend it out (I prefer to do this with my finger), before it dries and is then budge-proof.

The eyeliner much the same, and as it is also waterproof, it is suitable for use on both lash and waterline, and again, it simply stays put all day, - even on my eyes that easily water several times throughout the day.

The Magnif'Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner comes in four colour combinations, with a combination of matte, shimmer and pear l finishes.

  • #001 Back to Blacks with Matte Black Liner / Gun Metal Grey Shadow, Pearl with Glitter
  • #002 Kissed By A Rose Gold with Brown Low Pearl Liner / Rose Gold Shadow, Medium Pearl
  • #003 Queens Of The Bronzed Age with Gold High Pearl with Glitter Liner / Bronze Medium Pearl Shadow
  • #004 Dark Side Of Blue with Cobalt Matte Blue Liner / Dark Grey Low Pearl Shadow

The first three pens are classic shades of brown, bronze, gold and blacks, whilst the fourth one is a little more daring with the cobalt blue liner.

I've tried #002 Kissed By A Rose Gold and #004 Dark Side Of Blue, and conservative as I am, I absolutely love the first one, as it is the type of colour that I am usually reaching for.

As for the second one, I have to admit that I am a little unsure of the blue liner! I know that I will definitely be using the grey eyeshadow part, but doubt that the blue liner with used many times.

Overall, I have to say that I am really impressed with these Magnif'Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner from Rimmel London. The quality is exceptional, and in spite of having combination skin, and subsequently also greasy eyelids, it simply stays put all day, even without using a primer!! And I love too that it is a 2-in-1 product so if I'm in a rush in the morning, I don't have to search high and low for a eyeshadow or liner that matches, everything is right there. Again, I really enjoy the shade combo in the #002 Kissed By A Rose Gold and already know I will reach for it frequently, and already have plans on getting my fingers on the #003 Queens Of The Bronzed Age.

Rimmel London Magnif'Eyes Double Ended Shadow + Liner; RRP: $16.95

Available from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Target, Kmart, BigW, selected Coles and Woolworths and selected pharmacies.

PRODUCT REVIEW: SISLEY PARIS PHYTO-POUDRE LIBRE LOOSE FACE POWDER

Today on the blog I'd like to introduce you to a new-found love, the Phyto-Poudre Libre Loose Face Powder from Sisley Paris. With combination skin, I always have the issue that especially my t-zone area is shiny by lunch time, so I not only rely on a good primer, but also a good powder. Often powders can make makeup look caked on, especially after touching up during the day, but that's not the case with this Phyto-Poudre Libre.

As with all makeup products from Sisley Paris, it is enriched with active ingredients to help make the skin feel comfortable whist wearing it. It contains among others hibiscus flower extract and Mallow extract to help preserve the skin's hydration and suppleness as well as Linden Blossom and Vitamin E acetate to protect against free radicals.

The actual powder is so exceptionally fine and delicate, it finer than any other loose powder that I've ever used, it almost has an airy texture to it.

And once applied it helps not only set my foundation, and make it last throughout the day, but the translucent powder also mattifies my complexion, lasting all day without making my skin shine, while also giving my skin a beautiful smooth matte and velvety finish with a lovely natural radiance. It's almost like a second skin, and can of course also be used on its own, on top of your moisturiser if you simply want to mattify your skin. And it does so without settling into the (increasing) fine lines on my skin.

It comes stylish round compact that has a mirror on the inside of the lid, as well as it comes with a velvet powder puff that helps give you a super fine application. If you prefer an even finer application, a larger powder brush can of course also be used. I do love that it comes with the powder puff and the mirror so you can apply on the go if necessary, but that said, I don't really feel that loose powder is one of those things suitable to pop into the handbag (although the compact is sturdy and closes securely).

A "photo retouch" effect with the stroke of a brush or powder puff. Ultra-natural, Phyto-Poudre Libre unifies and mattifies the complexion, minimizes imperfections and sets make-up. It lasts all day long, the skin does not shine.

The Phyto-Poudre Libre comes in 4 shades and I tried shade number 1 Irisee, which is the lightest shade, and whilst I am usually a medium beige skin tone, it is still a perfect match for my skin, and also will be heading towards winter.

Overall, yet again I am very impressed with this product from Sisley Paris, but then again, I am yet to try a product that I didn't love. I love the fact that the power is so luxurious to use and I can see the difference in how my makeup looks and lasts when I am using it, and the fact that it comes with skin-caring ingredients that benefit my skin while I am wearing it, gives it even more bonus points.

Sisley Paris Phyto-Poudre Libre - RRP: $115 / 12g

PRODUCT REVIEW: SALLY HANSEN COMPLETE CARE 7-IN-1 NAIL TREATMENT

My nails are usually healthy and in good condition, but every now and again, they start to brake and split. Recently they did this again, but I suspect my recent pregnancy and now breastfeeding probably isn't helping the cause. So when the new Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment landed at my door step, I was naturally excited. I mean, a product that claims to have 7 benefits, is surely going to be great...

The Nail Treatment claims to give are;
  • Base Coat and Top Coat
  • Growth & strengthener
  • Brightener
  • Ultra Moisturising
The treatment contains among others, avocado oil, sea salt, pomegranate extract and calcium, which combined give the nails the optimum care. The treatment is fairly thick, but it is super easy and quick to apply thanks to the wide brush, and applies basically like a clear polish that makes the nails both smooth and hard, and immediately filling in any unsightly ridges in the nails. And unlike other nail treatments that I've previously used, it tries quickly too

With a baby and a toddler both in nappies I wash my hands more times during the day than I can count, which naturally reduces the wear of the polish, but generally after days it started chipping at the edges.

And after using it for just a few days, I can completely agree with the claim that the treatment is helping to restore dry and brittle nails, making them stronger so they no longer chip and peel as easy, but also look healthier and shinier too. Clearly the treatment is helping protect the nails from external damage, all while giving them vital nourishment to help them grown and get stronger and stronger to prevent future damage.

This truly is an all-in-one nail treatment, and that cares for your nails and solves all your nail problems. And what I find is brilliant is that it can be used both on its own, but also under and over your usual nail polish, so your nails are getting a treatment all while you're wearing your usual manicure. Regardless if you're using it on its own or as a top coat, it makes your nails super shiny.

Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment - RRP: $19.95 / 13.3ml

Available from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Target, BigW and Kmart.

PRODUCT REVIEW: COLORESCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE TINT DU SOLEIL SPF 30

I completely missed spring this year. My favourite season. But I was sadly trapped inside a hospital looking after our baby who was in hospital for 4.5 months. During this period, the team from Coloresciense sent me a gorgeous care pack with some incredible products to help me during the hospital stay, and I had the best of intentions of posting about these products, but simply couldn't concentrate nor seem to find the time. Anyway, now that our baby is home from hospital again I am slowly catching up, so now I'd finally like to tell you about the Colorescience Sunforgettable Tint Du Soleil SPF 30.

This is a 3-in-1 foundation that has both cosmetic, skincare and suncare benefits - just that alone is enough for me to fall in love!

The foundation is supercharged with anti-oxidants and peptides to help improve the appearance of the skin tone. It is also packed with multi-vitamin complex to help nourish the skin, while ceramide and milk lipids help keep the skin hydrated and luminious, while finally zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide the skin with natural broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection. So in short, a foundation that is good for the skin.

The tint has a beautiful creamy formula that glides over he skin and almost feels like you're applying a moisturiser. As the name suggests, it gives the skin a sheer natural coverage, which you can however build up slightly by adding another layer where required, yet while still giving the skin that natural healthy and glowing look.

I also like to 'set' it with a powder on top, which naturally also increases the coverage every so slightly.

The convenient pump tube also makes it easy to dispense just the amount needed, which is about one small pump to cover my full face.

I absolutely love love love how it makes my skin look whilst wearing. A think layer is enough to even out my skin tone and leave my skin radiant and glowing, and you wouldn't even know I'm wearing any makeup at all. I also love that it stays put all day (with the help of a mid-day dusting of powder, which is however standard for my skin), and without clogging up my skin, something I feel many products with SPF do.

I do, thanks to increasing pigmentation and scarring from past acne prefer foundations with slightly more coverage, but on the casual days, which as a stay-at-home mum I have considerably many off, this tint is absolutely perfect giving me just the right amount of coverage to make me feel more comfortable, while looking after my skin at the same time.

Colorescience Sunforgettable Tint Du Soleil SPF - RRP: $72.20 / 30ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA NUDE WEAR RANGE

Today I'd like to show you some beautiful products from the Physicians Formula Nude Wear range. These products were launched and sent to me quite some time ago, but with our son so sick and in hospital for 4.5 months I just didn't get a chance to post about them until now. The range includes two Nude Wear Glow Palettes, a Nude Wear Blush and a Nude Wear Touch of Glow Miracle Tool.

Both the palette and the blush come in a compact that has double compartment which houses the powder on top, and underneath the mirror and a brush.

Now, I have done quite few reviews of different Physicians Formula Powders, and I hate to say this, but I still don't like the included brush. It is stiff and not only scratches up the pretty embussed designs of the powders in a flash, they are also not very good for applying the products with a nice even finish. I would so love to see these brushes improved to a softer style, or as I basically never apply makeup on the go, and always use my own brushes anyway, I wouldn't really miss these brushes if they were simply left out, - it could consequently mean that the usual slightly bulky compact could be a tad thinner, which would be nice!!

Both the Glow Palette and the Blush come in a cute nude palette in a material that I think is supposed to look like leather. They have a metallic box at the top, making them look so pretty and very girlie.

Now onto the actual products... The Nude Wear Glow Palette is intended as an all in one palette. It is made up of four tiles in graduating shades of color that ranging from light to dark, from an off white highlighter and illuminating powder in the top corner, a pink for the blush to give the cheeks a pop of colour, a beige powder to use all over the face, and a bronzer to give you a sun-kissed glow.

The shades are put together with the intension of giving you a barely there nude look with a touch of glow. The palette has a touch of pearlescent shimmer, yet it is very subtle. The actual palette does have Nude Wear written in shimmery texture, which obviously does give a bit more sheen, but this writing does dissappear rather quickly.

Like the Glow Palette, the Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glowing Nude Blush is made up of four squares, but being a blush, it contains just different shades of pink, making it suitable for a variety of skin tones, as you can always focus more on one shade, or leave out on that is too dark or light for your skin tone.

It is easy to apply, and as it has the slightest bit of shimmer although less than the palette. It gives the skin a natural rosy transparent glow, yet it is pigmented enough to build up the colour if you wish.

Finally, the Nude Wear Touch of Glow Pen is an all-in-one tool that can be used as a concealer, highlighter pen, and for genera touch ups. It comes in a pen style with a brush at the end, so it is easy to apply, and blend too.

As it does have the tiniest touch of shimmer, unfortunately I don't find that it is suitable for covering up the bags under my eyes as they are surrounded by beginning lines, and I don't really want to draw attention to them, also because it does have sheer cover. However, I do find it useful to cover minor marks and use as a highlighter on brow bones and on top of the cheeks.

Overall I am impressed with the quality of these products from Physicians Formula, in particularly the Glow Palettes and the Blush.

Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glow Palette - RRP: $29.95
Physicians Formula Nude Wear Blush - RRP: $21.95
Physicians Formula Nude Wear Touch of Glow Miracle Tool - RRP: $22.95

Physicians Formula is available from Priceline
